Thread: Nice Epic Quest idea for CH / Lovers of the Cat Mount idea

On Naboo, there are locals called Tusk Cat Riders.
Make a Themepark or Quest series, where you slowly
gain their trust, befriend them, help them and seen worthy
the secret oftraining the Tusk Cat (ar any other) ascat mount.
Quests could involve all things to do for this Rider Clan,
a Lair of the Riders, like a Cave as Quest Base, The
Task of finding and Taming a special Tusk Cat (of appropiate
Level, MCH-Level, 60-70 or so), learning the ways of the riders
and gain Faction points with them.
Wouldnt that be a good quest?

Sounds pretty neat to me. 
This would hinge upon there being a CH-only mount (and specifically a cat mount, in this case). I'm not sure what sorts of technical issues that might present (preventing players from trading these to non-CHs, for example). Definitely some food for thought, though.

Excellent idea! I'd even go so far as to say that only master CH could do the quests or at very least be very high on CH skill tree (something like 3,3,3,3 or better). It would provide some small incentive for people to become CH while at same time discourage people from picking up a few CH skills just so they can get the mount.
Vert, not sure I understood you, though, about not trading the mounts to nonCH - a non-issue, of course, if mount is over level 10.Or did you mean not trading the mount to players who had not done the quests? Not being able to trade/sell the mount would make it an extremely desirable mount as well as being a nice little perk for CH profession. Seems to me to it would be the same principle as restricting Mandolorian armor to certain professions.

I would do it.
My cat of choice would be a great plains stalker or a greater sludge panther.

This would be fun for some people, but it it realy needed? I agree there should be a cat mount in the game for people who want to ride cats -- but making an "epic mount" would just cause every ch to go around riding the same thing, and chances are there would be alot of people who would resent having to ride a cat instead of thier dewback/bantha/chicken that they love so much.
And as far as having a cat mount be the "solution" to vehicles... it would really just be a band-aid on something that needs to be looked at closer, not to mention that it would suffer the same problems pointed out above.
As far as the mount issuegoes, I think making them better than vehiclesin certain situations, such as climbing steep terrain or in jungles, or increasing vehicle deteriation in harsh climates is a much better solution. Mount issues go far beyond ch's just wanting to go as fast as a swoop but riding an animal -- and if mounts get changed in any way it should not only adress that, but adress the fact that non-ch's should want to ride mounts too.
As far as the epic quest goes, the reward should not be a static one, the best would be to have it enhance one of the ch's current pets. That way the ch gets to remain unique, and it could allow for ch's to get a good pet that is fun andfits them, but that might normaly blow chunks. In theory, if they made cats mountable, you could get your mounted tusk cat enhanced, so everyone wins -- not just people who want to ride cats. 
Just some thoughts on the issue....

Grisk.. Its not needed. But the CH Comunity suffers from a way of feeling low.
Profession-only quests are something every profession craves. Content is something
everyone craves, though they do what they can. Cool stories never hurt.
and acat mount is something we all want. It dosnt have to be faster than a speederbike..
its just nifty.
Vert, can you try to insert this into the most CH-Loving dev´s ear?

i like it! if the devs had half the imagination it takes to come up with the (no no offence intended) relativley simple idea, this game would be a thousand times better!
The only mods i would make to it would be that it wasnt an 'epic' quest, but it was still quite chalenging. if it was something like the CH trainer in naboo asked you to bring him 5 semi rare pets (1 wasteland cu pa, 1 gnarled rancor etc) then he would mount your big cat for you. this would limit it to serious CH's while still not alienating the CH's whodont have the skill points to go all the way to master.
also if you chose which of your cats tobe mounted, it would have to be limited to the cats that cannot be bio-engineered, so it would be a 'true CH mount'

I do not like this idea. Why must we do a difficult epic quest just to be balanced with other means of transportation? CH should be able to mount atleast one cat type regardless. Doing extra work and grinding just to be inline with other players is a direct smack in the face to creature handlers and adds insult to our already injured profession.

Bajonett, I know everyone wants content, and I know CH's (being one myself) are not happy with the mount situation. However, asking for a specific mount to be just as fast as vehicles, or especialy aquest for said mount, is a rather narrow solution to the overalll issue. Beyond the "is it necissary" line in my previous post, is a detailed example of what I feel would be a much better request to make, if we are going to make one.
I wasn't asking if a cat mount was necissary, I waswondering why have a questwith such a narrow reward thatsome CH's would be unhappy with, especialy when it would be just as easy to ask the devs to put in something that would make everyone happy. (multiple fast mounts, or making them more versitile).

Gri.. thecat can be slower. Its for the coolness and Quests....
