Thread: Creature Handler the dying art......

Anyone remember the good old days, when creature handler actually meant something.I remember when creatures where actually good and you could take out more than just one rancor.I also remember the frenzied grauls that seem to be extinct now.But im not here to talk about changing creature handler back to what it was or changing it to fit the world but to make more of a need for it again, instead of making it a skill that everyone just passes over on the skill list that usless or not important.

Quests for creature handlers and every proffession should be introduced to make the proffessions feel more real like an actual job.For example creature handler quests could range from training rancors for jabbbas arena to trainning guard dogs for a rich diplomat.And anything in between.It also seems to have killed bio-engineers too since they seem to rely on creature handlers.They should have more usess for animals then just fighting and mounts. Ex: They should have inventorys for certain creatures and give it a pack so it can carry large amounts of materials more than any droid could carry.And for smaller animals they should bounty hunters track.I think certain animals should be able tobe trained astracking animals so they cansold BHs to use as an alternative to droids.Dont get me wrong I dont want to get rid of the need for a droid enginer but there should be strengths and weaknesses to using each.Creature handler the profession doesnt need to be changed but certain things in the world need to be changed to make it nescessary again.So lets petition to get some things changed.

Wow...you know I never thought of anything like that but those are some really good ideas. Not just for CH but for all professions. The way SWG functions now seems much like the same ol grind in any other game just that it has a Star Wars theme to it. I remember back when I first started I thought it was cool that they had mission terminals for most professions to do profession specific missions. However I figured out very quickly that the only missions worth taking were generic "go here and kill that" missions from the generic mission terminals. For example, Scout missions at the time took 2 to 3 times longer to complete then generic "kill this" missions and paid about the same or less. And those missions were usually more on the order of kill 20 vynocks rather then directing you to a specific lair. It would be more interesting to see missions more like "We need information on the traveling/mating patterns of animal X. Track these animals for 3 days and record your observations." Thus you have a longer more interesting mission. But to make those missions work they would have to pay out a lot more then a standard mission or no one would do them.
