Thread: Best template to make a Master CH PvP worthy?

Is it even possible? I have no idea how to go about it. I like TKM with Master CH, but realize it's not truly PvP viable. I hate to think of having to go into the other professions though, as they all seem to require a large investiture of money to make it workable. Any ideas?

Just to illustrate where we are, let's use an example of a duel I had yesterday with a jedi, who was not using force infusion, force aura, or anything at all, and just let me whack at him for the first few seconds.

I was using 3 Female narglatches and my special-less command self at the time, and after a few seconds of me doing almost nothing, (He just healed every so often as commando has no specials) he decided to finish it, and despite a well-timed rocket launcher KD and burstrun despite being snared, I was beaten. I look at my combat log, and guess how much damage my female narglatches did to him while grouped so they would have CL 80 to-hit bonuses? 33 damage per hit. And he wasn't using a single jedi skill, food, or anything. that's about 99 damage every time all 3 of them attack, so thats about 49.5 DPS in total, using 3 of the absolute strongest wild pets a CH can possibly have. Im sure if I wasn't a commando and had more BH, I could of told you some success story of me chain rooting or some nonsense, but the point is, out of the best pets we have, they did 49.5 DPS to a jedi who wasn't using a single defensive skill or food.

The point is, CH+PvP=not happening.

If they ever fix specials, then the tables might be compleatly turned, many pet specials aren't used much in the CU since their not there for most professions, like intimidate and blind, so it's hard to know how much effect they give, but for now, the answer is no CH for PvP.

dont use wild tamed pets such as narglatches in PVP, the damage will be in the lower end of their damage range.

use BE pets only pretty much and you want ones with 402-499 damage etc not any rubbishy 102-499 etc as that will land roughly 180 max whereas the BE pet made with decent DNA + the high damage rangewill land 440 every time.

i wouldnt bother with 3 weak pets either as a MCH. get one high damage dealer with ranged attacks (and KD + Intimidate (or strong poison and disease !) specials for when they are fixed !). health and armor arent so important as most folk ignore pets in pvp unless they realise they are getting pounded. a ranged pet will avoid that mostly also as it will back off if losing health too fast. one or two tough BE pets + a probot advanced deals roughly 600dps which is a LOT more than most folk 1st think when a CH runs at them if the pets have room then health regen and auto repair for droids are worthwhile additions as they will get attacked sometimes obviously.

also i would say MBH is your best template option as a MCH to make pvp worthy. i dont know how many sp that leaves you as i am MBH CH0424 only atm but if you have space for CM 0004 paralyze + maybe some disease and fire OR maybe pistoleer 0003 root - stopping shot + maybe intimidation shot also... you will do well in PVP CH certainly isnt underpowered its all about the quality of your stable

I would agree with this, BH would be a good all around template for PvPing with MCH. Unless you find some sweetspot it is unlikely a MCH is going to succeed solo in high end PvP. You have to use a lot more tactics. Going BH will give you some KDs and pistoleer will give you some control with roots. I had the same experience dueling a jedi in my guild with my three narglatches, it was pretty ugly. They do very well in PvE, but in PvP they are too easy to manage by the enemy. I am actually a MCH/MCM with a little bit in Pistols and I do very well with support in PvP. If you get out of the mindset of one vs one PvP you will find that MCH can be pretty helpful to the group you are fighting with. You might try MCH/MBH/Pistoleer 0404. If my math is right I think that is possible. If you are not wanting to hunt bounties you could just get BH0444, but ADV Critical shot at MBH is a pretty nice attack. I have a MBH/MC/Pistoleer 0404 on my other server and actually rely heavily on my pistol since it is pretty high damage and I do well with it. You could also ditch pistols and pick up rifles, which would increase your range, then your opponent would have to make a choice between initially killing your pet or charging you. Either way you would be hitting pretty hard with the rifle.

Hrmph, you'd think if my narglatches can solo CL 77 sith very easily and my BE pets can't that the narglatches would be stronger.....chalk up another ridiculous error for the CU :/. I guess I can try getting a high damage BE pet though and see how that works out, thanks for the tip....

my real tip is utterly simple :-

Buy 2 very different types of pets :-

1) pure pve tank. high health, health regen, armor etc and doesnt matter on damage

2) pure pvp damage dealer, high max damage, high min damage, high to hit etc + fairly high health incase does get hit sometimes in pvp (unlikely !)

get a few of each and youre laughing
