I'm seriously considering this template, if anyone who has it or something similar could give me any opinions on it that would be great. I just want to have fun with my template, and this seems like something enjoyable.

Yes! I am. I started working towards ranger from the beginning and never dropped it, and then when the CU went live, respecced to CH from pistoleer. I really enjoy it, and find my pets very useful for hunting with, which I do a lot as a ranger. Probably the best thing about CH from a ranger's perspective is that you can stand way back and use your pets to pull a creature away from the edge of a pack, usually without aggroing all the rest. Then you can kill them one at a time without jetting jumped on and harvest lots of hides/bones/meat. Plenty of money in harvesting if you need the credits. Also you will be a useful addition to a group hunting big game such as goraxes and krayts, because you bring your pet to pull creatures and do a bit of damage, you have traps to snare the creatures and kite them around and you have camo for all your party. Plus you have a gun! (well I do, I have 2 branches of marksman).

Well I think this template would be loads of fun, albeit not super strong combat wise. Plus you would have two professions that get no attention from the Devs instead of just one. But, I always enjoyed ranger and I love CH, and as a hunter I bet you would do well with this have a blast.

I Am also thinking of this,

Master Ranger, Master Creature Handler, 4000 marksman, and Medic 0010 (help speed up pet healing).

Since I am a wookie, I plan on getting myself a kick butt bowcaster and have fun hunting. Seems to me that harvesting meats, hides, and bones make the most money. And since my main is a chef, the two go hand in hand.

I was MCH/Ranger pre-CU. I've said in other posts that post-CU this is not a very effective template for combat at higher levels - CL 70+. I don't mean to say that it is completely ineffective, but I think that you will find it very difficult taking on CL 80 mobs with only pets and basic weapons, that is weapons without the specials you would get from mastering a combat profession.

As long as I don't do something foolish, I don't have problems with Class 80 creatures. I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more, when most of my capabilities aren't broken.

I'm a MR/MCH and like it a lot, despite the probs with both professions. I use a droid to assist and have no probs taking down level 80 lairs as long as one creature agros I'm fine.

I can do this without a droid, but I tend to get hit more this way and with the way armor decays, i'd prefer to use the droid and have the armor last longer. Most times by the time the creature gets to me providing my traps stick it's almost dead and I may get hit only one or two times before it dies.

Works well for me, since most of the guys I group with are in the UK, I'm usually solo in the evenings here in the US. I love this template and refuse to change it regardless of bugs/nerfs so long as I can have fun with it.

As MR/MCH from the beginning (when I started I set my mind to become this combination), I've droped rifleman so i can get a bit of BH instead and FS Survival (which fits the RP-ing).

Besides the fact this combination has the least attention of the devs, it can be fun. Especially looking for new tamables.

Combatwise, it's different. Pop-tarts are a bit overpowered now. Pets don't stand a chance against krayts and neither can you as MRanger. Only an MRanger with a real doing damage profession is able to pull it of.

In general pets can stand and pull against the higher mobs if you take care!

Also be aware, that if you choose to uses some CL54 weapons, you almost everytime outdamage your pets (so they can't tank) and therefor get aggro on you (where you have almost NO defenses, unless in armor, which for a ranger, imho, is a bit weird)

Just my 2cts.

I play this template with my alt: MCH, M Ranger, BH 0030. The BH line gives me improved underhand shot which is a very reliable KD in addition to confusion shot which can stun and/or dizzy. Addpets and traps into the mix andI find that I canbeeffective as a solo hunter. This template definately takes combattactics to be successfull which, in my opinion, makes it that much more fun. The onlycreatures that I cannot kill solo are those that regen at a faster rate than I can apply damage(ancient krayts for example).

Ranger skills like camo and area track (although resizing your radar is faster for creature hunting imo) also make creature taming much more fun. And I find myself very helpful when group hunting. Camo and harvesting bonus alone will make you a popular addition to any group.Andpets (they don't have to be grouped and take players slots away) areusually fun for everyone- even if they are not that effective they are often a welcome change of pace, and honestlywho doesn't enjoy taking breaks in a high-tech field base?

My maintoon is in the middle of the FS grind and I honestly find myself playing my Ranger/CH toon more. It is just so fun. I enjoy hooking noobs up with free spats or kadus or even cupas which I will name for them. I will always stop to train mounts or companion pets for anyone. And I enjoy helping out a guildie with a bounty track on Kash or a general quest track. Making money is neveran issue, you can develop some really fun working relationships withlocal crafters.

Also, one of my favorite passtimes is hanging out around a city starportremoving myMCH tag, sitting down, placing my /afk tag up, calling three norts (Larry Curly and Moe), and watching players' reactions as I stealthily have them/ tellp wedge, /tellp follow, /tellpet trick, etc. Loads of fun and everybody gets a kick out of trying to discover who's behind the madness!

It all depends on your playstyle, but I have found this template to be an absolute blast. If you want to have fun playing SWG, i highly recommend it. (And take the BH with your few extra sp, it will give you the most bang for your buck imo) If you want to be high-level combat effective with plans for Jedi- I would recommend something a bit more powerful. You will be CL80 with this template but 2 or 3 mobs aggroing you at the same time will quickly place you inthe best seat in the house to check out thescenic orbiting star-destroyers!

Have fun and remember...it's only a game!

I'm a Wookiee Master Ranger/Master Creature Handler with marksman 4, 0, 0, 4 and it is the most fun I've had playing yet!. I 've been in groups hunting krayts and all the big stuff. My cats do very well against what ever we decided to take on. Have fought over cl80's with just me and my kitties and done well even though I've had my share of trips to the cloners. And theycan pose a big problem if a few of themaggro at a one time, but it is still very exciting to say the least.

I did something similar with a Ravenous Torton at a crowdedoutpost on Dantooine. Itwould rear back on it's hind legs and shake the ground when if came back down. Of course, some of the more hard core serious types didn't appreciate it, but mostly people seemed to enjoy the show as long as I didn't over do it.
