Thread: Combat Upgrade, A Newbies Aproach
The Creature Handler profession was seriously cut down by the Combat Upgrade. But it's not just pets the Combat Upgrade effected, it was all creatures. There was absolutly nothing done during the Combat Upgrade to improve the Creature Handler profession, just one huge nerf. I haven't been a player for long, having started after the Combat Upgrade was already in play, so most of the information I got on becoming a Creature Handler was a first hand discovery on the changes made during the Combat Upgrade. My proposal is based on personal experience and I hope to really ballance things out again. I am not trying to make the Creature Handler profession powerful or unballanced, but this game has so much to offer in flexabeality that it's up to us, the players, to tell the DEVS what the hell they did wrong!
Mount Upgrades:
1: Allow default ranged attacks and the throwing of traps, as previously stated in the In-Concept proposal of "Mounts Unleashed". Though, only permit this if the mount has been trained by a Creature Handler to allow "Mounted Atack".
[All CL10 token Varactyl will automaticly recieve this abeality.]
2: Remove the mounts "slow down" effect due to being initiated into combat.
[This option is highly debatable. Would the rider have too much of a speed advantage this way?]
3: Shorten the length of time it takes for a winded mount to prepare for the next gallop.
4: Customizeable sadles should be an option. The sadles could come in different styles, such as flags for Imperials and Rebles. To mount a creature, you must first have a sadle. The basic sadle will be craftable by articians, but more prolific models would be craftable by tailors and possibly armorsmiths.
5: Shorten the time it takes for a mount to catch it's breath when a gallop is completed or cancled.
6: More mounts...
General Upgrades:
1: "Pet Sync" - This would be the abeality for a CH to actually control a pet's movement and special abealities as they would their own. During Pet Sync the controler kneels to a prone position, not being able to take any further action till the Pet Sync is cancled. Pet Sync cannot be freely cancled in combat, followed by a 15 second delay after combat. If the controler is attacked, the Pet Sync in broken and syncing again will have a delay. The pet will only be alloud to move so far away from the controler, not being able to truely leave the designated proximity, possibly 40-50 meters in radius of the controler. If the pet that is synced to gets incapped, the controler would lose half their health (cumulative, so it is quite possible to incap yourself if you jump the gun and sync into another pet) and all but 1% Mind Abeality Point.
Once a creature handler has obtained the status of Master Creature Handler, their Pet Sync abeality gives them access to alternative mount abealities. When useing the Pet Sync, while mounted, the creature handler and the mount become one fighting unit. Their life is added together and devided aproapratly, possibly by half. The resistance of the pair is based on the mounts resistance, not the rider. The mount will have access of all it's normal combat abealities while movement and Special Abeality use is controled by the rider. The rider will have access to ranged attacks as well as still be able to use normally available items. If incap occures, both the rider and mount become incapped.
2: Bio Engineers should be offered more craftable creatures. Unique creatures that cannot be found in the wild and possibly the option to create genetic splices of current available specimens.
3: Restore the diversity creatures once had. The only difference between Non-Bio Engineered creatures is based on level and possibly hiden resistances. Two creatures outside the same species that have matured to the same level should, by no means, have the same statistics.
4: Re-Render mounted Varactyl and Bolitaur. As it is now, the sadle looke like a mushroom growing out of it's back. If that was a real sadle, it would fall off with the slightest amount of preasure. At least add straps to hold it on.
4: A creatures special attack should be based on the general effectiveness that creature has with the said abeality as well as it's statistics VS it's targets statistics, not simply based on level and accuracy.
[An example of effectiveness would be that a lowset horned creature, such as a Cu Pa or Bol, would have a better chance of knocking down an oponent than a Razorcat or Bolle.]
General Fixes:
1: Currently, pets 'MIGHT' attack a nest, but eventually stop and have to be told again to resume combat. FIX IT.
[This occures roughly after the fourth attack. Most pets with no ranged attack have to literally be walked to the nest before they initiate an attack.]
2: Currently, switching targets for a pet is a hastle, especially with pets who have ranged attacks. Have it so that, if a pet is currently engaged with a target, they will cancle the engagement and move to another target that the controler specifies.
3: There is an issue with multiple pets having problems continueing to follow the controler. FIX IT
4: Have it so pet health bars are freely viewable by the public, for medical reasons.
5: The [Stop Gallop] option does not work. FIX IT
6: Feeding pets is no longer a an option.
[Not sure if this was intentional or not, but remove the option if it is useless.]
7: There is an option to tell a pet use it's ranged attack in battle, that is, if you teach it this option. However, most pets with ranged attacks perfer to use ranged attacks. Therefor, a creature should always use close range attacks, unless stated otherwise.
8: There is an issue with pets following properly sometimes. An example of this can be seen by trying to lead a Fambaa or Torton through the jungles of Kashykk.
9: When called, a pet might decide to lay down. Just remove this effect, as it only adds to the call timer. Though, still allow the laydown effect during other times the pet might lay down, such as being peted or while miandering about.
The future of the Creature Handler profession literally falls into your hands at this point. Your feedback is greatly apreciated, but it is obviouse that something has to be done to bring certain aspects of it out of the gutter. Star Wars has been a huge franchise for many years, so let's not have this become another Ultima Online...
