I remember predicting that Creature Mounts would be largelyignored and forgotten once the vehicles were released from Test Center to Live... many people said I was wrong.
However, most players do not use them today. Players should have a "fun" or practicalreason to use Creature Mounts once again.
In order to make Creature Mounts more desireable, perhaps creature mounts should have great terrain navigation? Perhaps a +60 Terrain Navigation when you ride some of them?
Or, perhapssome of the mounts be very fast (such as like 80% of the speed of a speederbike).
Basically, SOE should make creature mounts something desirable andwanted (as opposed to be used only for group XP bonus).

i'm not MCH yet, but i do know , when i am, i'll bring out my cu pa mount ( to help with my pistoleer profession ) and call out 2 rancors or somtin. so, its not like mounts arent THAT useless.

Completely agree with this post. There is no reason to have a mount as it stand right now in the game. For that matter how many even ride the slow one engine bike, not me, SpeederSwoop and AV21 (for the lucky few that have them) seem to be the norma.
I, as a MCH, have 2 mounts that have done nothing but take up creature space, I only hold onto them in hopes SOE makes soom change to them. Even 80% of the speed of a Speeder I would still ride the speeder. Now if the terr neg you talked about allowed to travel up hills as faster than a bike now you are getting some where. I see more Jedi's in the game than I do see mounts being used.
Overall as a MCH or any CH closing in on the master, what is our role? No one wants a mount, no ones needs our pets to group with, heck since I took up swordsman I do not even need them now. I spend more time healing them than I do myself.
I have not nor will I ever drop MCH, but I have questioned my loyality to this proffession as of late. I can remember the days landing on dant and getting more tells to join a group before I even got load in than I get all week.
I was in the coronet SP waiting for shuttle and I got a tell, "WOW master CH nice, what do you do with that?" I had no response to give.

I think the best way to make mounts more useful is to make them more useful in combat. Some ideas are that they can fight while being ridden (will make range attack mounts the rage), and make some specials available to us when riding mounts (the ones that do not involve posture changes on the rider, eg: roll shot would not work, but body shot would).
Right now mounts are just not practical or useful, but if they madeit so it is actually an advantage to fight while being mounted, they will start selling like hotcakes again I believe.

Yes, mounts are useless. I always felt they were just a Beta test for vehicles. SOE will not allow effective combat while mounted for one reason. Kiting, a good ranged profession using specials while running at the slightly faster rate mounted would be hard to hit for a melee profession or a MOB that relies on melee attacks.
The only way to make them effective is to make them as fast with better terrain negotiation than a Swoop. It is the only way people will want one. This would, of course, cause the Artisans to scream to the high heavens so it will not be done. Got to cater to the crafters. They did not care when bikes made mounts obsolete but now care that mounts could make bikes obsolete.
We need to get out of the "Mount" mindset and petition for ways to make pets in general attractive to the non-ch playerbase. BE already has the combat/tanking/mount-RP role sewn up. Give them functions that enhance other professions like bonuses to entertaining, healing, tracking, useful special attacks that can not be provided by BE, additional storage, heal BF, stop players attacking (Tough to shoot when a Kimo has your shooting arm in his mouth) the possibilites are endless. Last, but not least, get rid of the stupid calling/storing delays.

Kiting can be an issue, but only really in PvP. Maybe make it so only higher level creature handlers can use specials on mounts, or let mounts attack (kind of an advanced combat riding you would learn, would give CH's more incentive to get up higher in levels). Would also make CH's a little more combat worthy in PvP.
I don't think making them faster would make them more wanted, people would still ride their swoop. They need to be more combat effective period.

IMHO... ALL mounts need to be faster, by quite a large amount. The slowest mount should be equal to the slowest vehicle, although i dont think the fastest mount needs to be as fast as a swoop/AV21. Terrain negotiation is where mounts should rule. they should barely (if at all) slow on extreme terrain. And just as importantly MCH's need to be abe to use specials while mounted and their mounts need to fight while mounted. Does anyone really think that a critter would care if it had something on its back when it started to get attcked by another creature? heck no! It would stomp and chomp the hostile regardless.
As much as i would LOVE new mounts (A "BIG" cat! or possibly a reptilian flyer) I would MUUUUUCH prefer it if they made the mounts we currently have be useful on any kind of level besides roleplay.

the best thing about a mount for a ch,is that it IS slow..if you speed around on a swoop looking for a gps, you will be one of those "i can't find a single spawn posters"..if you are ona slow moving mount you won't "outrun" the spawn points, if that makes sense..actually on foot is the best..mount second, x34 third..yes the x34..i use it exclusivly when hunting, because you can leave it out without rapid decay and it is SLOW so you see every spawn in the area

I'd like as a mount almost anything that was:
1. Big enough to mount and not look like i was a troll using a dwarf for a packmule.
http://www.gucomics.com/archives/view.php?cdate=20041029
2. That mount was able to move at least a high percentage of a swoop's speed at the very least.
80-90% at the very least. Large flying mounts for CH'ers would be a very nice solution. hint hint...
We should actually get something unique for staying with CH like we do.
3. As we are all scouts with advanced terran navigation you would think that we would be able to
guide our mounts over varied terran with that same skill that we use when running. If that is not the case atleast tie in
a new variable into one of the skill lines that would increase 'mount navigation' at variable amounts til
at master lvl we could be back up to par with our ground base navigation skills from scout.
