The reason it probably doesn't work that way is because this is Star Wars and pets didn't pay a particularly large role in the movies. Sure, there were creatures aplenty, but none of the main characters survived a firefight by pulling a gurreck out of his pocket and sending it after the bad guys. Don't get me wrong. A mechanic like that might almost make up for the issue about us not being as useful in high-end combat as we used to be. But I don't really see this as being the approved fix for it.

when did you see any characters getting buffed?? or using any of the brawler skills instead of some type of blaster?? or even composite armor?? the game takes a lot of libertiesso that makes your point fruitless. not letting a CH call pets whenever he wants makes CH very weak and almost not worth having it at all (why do i have to go outside of a cave to call a pet when i haven't been in battle in a few minutes). now for my question...

q. i have a few pets that i still have from the nerf in dec or whenever it was. do these pets have pre-nerf skills or do they have the same stats that they'd have if i caught them today???

If the pet is wild, then all pets were nerfed back in the December patch, even the ones in your datapad.

I'm new since a few weeks and have a few questions that are still quite unanswered...

Q. What is nerf or nerfed?

Q. When does my pet grow? Only when I'm online, but is in my datapad?

Q. Does it grow faster when I have it out?

Q. How long does it take for pets to grow?

Q. How do I know my pet is full-grown?

Q. Can pets grow out of my abilities? For example, if I have lvl15, can it grow to lvl16 and beyond?

Q. How come I see some non-CH riding Banthas and my little Bantha baby is at level 12? Are there Banthas that are CL10 or less?

Q. Is a creature at CL12 cooler then CL10? If so, why?

Q. What is a good way to earn XP for CH? It seems waiting for babies to spawn isn't good anymore since some patch.

Q. Is it a bug that my creatures sometimes don't respond, or do they have their needs? It wasn't hungry at those times.

Hope someone can answer these, it's been a long time since this FAQ has been updated.

It would also be nice if someone could gather all the Q's and A's and group them in the first post of this thread!

Q. What is nerf or nerfed?

There are two possible definitions. A nerf is a medium-sized fur-bearing animal prized in the Star Wars universe for its excellent quality meat. These are strangely absent from Star Wars Galaxies, and an often requested addition. Nerfs tend to have a rather unattractive smell, so "Nerf Herders" tend to have rather low social standing.

An unrelated definition is with regard to game changes. Any change that is seen as reducing the power or abilities of players is referred to as a "nerf" (probably harkening back to the soft "Nerf(tm)" toy weapons).

Q. When does my pet grow? Only when I'm online, but is in my datapad?

Pets grow as long as your character logs in. Each day seems to be made up of two 12 hour "windows" of time. Your pet grows one step during each window if you have been logged in at all.

Q. Does it grow faster when I have it out?

There seems to be some dispute as to whether fighting with pets makes them grow faster. In my experience, pets seem to grow at about the same rate no matter what you do with them.

Q. How long does it take for pets to grow?

If you're logging in regularly, probably a little under a week. It varies depending on how much you're logged in.

Q. How do I know my pet is full-grown?

Look at its "Difficulty" in the datapad. If it's full grown, there will just be one number. If it's still growing, there will be a second number in parentheses. The second number is the adult difficulty.

Q. Can pets grow out of my abilities? For example, if I have lvl15, can it grow to lvl16 and beyond?

Pets will grow to their adult difficulty and then stop. If the adult difficulty is 15, it will never grow to 16.

Q. How come I see some non-CH riding Banthas and my little Bantha baby is at level 12? Are there Banthas that are CL10 or less?

There are no wild banthas or cu pas that are CL 10 or less. Bio-Engineers can create a CL 10 or less creature with any of the mountable body types, though (including bantha)

Q. Is a creature at CL12 cooler then CL10? If so, why?

Depends on how you define "cool." Among wild pets, there's very little difference in stats between a CL 10 and a CL 12.

Q. What is a good way to earn XP for CH? It seems waiting for babies to spawn isn't good anymore since some patch.

One fast way is to get in a group and go big game hunting with your pets. Sharnaff hunting on Corellia is one of my favorites.

Q. Is it a bug that my creatures sometimes don't respond, or do they have their needs? It wasn't hungry at those times.

Hmm... are you saying it won't respond to the commands that you have trained it? Have you gotten the confirmation message saying "You have trained your pet a new command!" for each command you are attempting to use?

Q: Some pet specials are easily explained by their name, such as Dizzy or Blind attack. However, there are others like Crippling Strike that I have no clue what means. Is Crippling Strike a combo of something, or is it a big hit?

I have no problems leveling my pets. for example, i just tamed 2 wolf boars(both lvl 25's). Day 1 i used the little sucker to hit lvl 34 Mountain Squills on Tantooine, but did it very carfully. I would almost kill the M Squill then right before it dies send the baby wolf boar in just to get a hit on m. After every battle i would rest, getting my HAM back up and checking to see if the boar was hungrey. While resting im constantly /pet, /hug, /cheer and so on. i did this for about 5hours and had to go to work. Now on day 2 (about 20+ hours l8r) i check the level of the 2 boars, the one i used 25/25, the second that didint use, only 13/25. Im not sure if this has bin said before but i get my pets maxed no longer than 3 days every time doing this.

Crippling Strike is a Posture Down attack. If your opponent is Standing, it forces them to Kneeling. If they're Kneeling, it forces them to Prone. Thiswill workwith the CH "use special attack" training commands, whereas Knockdown doesn't. So Crippling Strike + Dizzy Strike is a nice anti-NPC combination.

Even though this is a game, it isa type of world where you should go out and discover things for yourself. Part of what makes this game interesting is being able to grow in knowledge of a planet, its creatures etc... Talking to other players and learning helps maintain a sense of community. Why destroy all that by finding shortcuts to discovering things for yourself? If you're not interested in playing along and communicating with others, then why don't you just go a play with yourself?

Well this is an easy one to answer... Because some of us have a life and work for a living and don't have as much time as those who are playing 24/7 stressing our tax dollars.. Don't think its much to ask to have some help from those who use my tax dollars is it??
