Nope, you can use the trade window, a friend and i trade pets all the time and neither of us are Masters.


Unless I totaly have no idea what transfer is for.

That's a bug, and could presumably be fixed at any time... The transfer issue has been broken and fixed several times since release.


It's fine that right now you can trade any pet without it knowing transfer, but just be careful not to make long term plans for it staying that way.
