Thread: DISCUSSION THREAD: Issues with Creature Handler in the Combat Upgrade.
2. Level system makes pets more irrelevant than ever in PvP (and that took some doing) ... exactly the opposite result of what we've been promised the CU would accomplish for us over the last year +
3. Pets were re-levelled with absolutely no regard for impact on CH, it's obvious we weren't given two seconds of thought, it was all about how elite combat profs would fare against the wild versions of the animals. Just a very poorly executed change.
My three issues... I only get three? ![]()
1. Pet not tanking/keeping aggro.
2. Pet's counting against group count.
3. Pets moving too slowly to keep up with even the slowest mount. IMHO they don't need to keep up with my speeder, but if you wanted to that'd be great![]()
4. Pets still like to stand on top of me unless I macro /tellpet follow; /tellpet wedge;
5. Pets don't auto follow after combat.
1) Pet tanking. Put in some code to have mobs have to attack a person's pet first - as soon as I shoot the mob is all over me, never mind the snarling drooling rancor trying to eat them. And post CU whenever I tell the pet to attack the mob meets him halfway. I liked the old way where our pets ran up and attacked to start combat.
2) Pet storage, houses hold more, folks get more ships, waypoints are seperate now. The old reason of database storage is toast. Give us some more stoarge!
3) Pet specials - otherwise the pets are all the same ![]()
i can call a certain pet and when i try to mount he drops to his belly and does a spin move.
even tho he is easy to replace(mountain dewback), i dont wanna destroy him caus ehe is the first pet i ever tamed. and i have grown attached to him.
hope they fix that![]()
I just wanted to take a second to voice my opinion on this matter. I have had my character since the game first started in 2003 and have been a creature handler during that who time. I have seen the abilities of the CH change many times and finally had made it to Master Creature Handler and was still having problems taming creatues. So during after the Combat Upgrade I started builing up my Bio-Engineer clone engineering and DNA harvasting skills at the same time Staying a Master Creature Handler. I am now at 4th level Clone Engineering and 4th level DNA harvasting and have been creating pets that are levels 120 to 160 (give or take) but I can do nothing with them.
Since my charactures combat skill level is 56 I was really looking forward to finally exploring Yavin 4, Endor or Lok or heck finally be able to hold my own against a group of sand people.
My main issue is if I am a Master Creature Handler and also have Bio skills I should be able to Tame any creature I create. At least that is my opinion.
One other addition, I have also had a problem with my pets not attacking when I get attacked even if I use my attack command they will just stand there or just follow me around.
Now please don't missunderstand me I enjoy playing but my interest is waning the more I find out how little my character can do, wear or control.
All the points in this post are needed, but also we need some protection. I know we have combat armor and with master CH and another elite profession we are lvl80...but that's not real at all, now we are a completely disaster in PvE, the pets are dying so faster now that it's crazy to survive outside with only another master elite class. Pre-CU i was MPistoleer/MCH, a good template for PvE for me...now i'm the same template, but fighting with lvl 75-80 mobs is nearly a suicide and the PvE is like hell ![]()
I think we need melee defense (because all the creatures i suppose make kinetic damage now only) and maybe some special protection from states as well.
Here are some items that are driving me nuts right now aside from the big ones from the top 5/10/whatever:
- Pets are slow. Slower than ever. I'm constantly outrunning my pets.
- Pets, once aggro'd from something, will not attack any other target if told to. It will only follow. This means that you cannot have a pet attack one target, then change your mind and have it pick up something that aggro'd you at the same time. It also means that if your pet gets stuck aggro on something that is invisible or kilometers away, you cannot use that pet to do anything until aggro breaks.
- It is near impossible to break aggro for a pet. My pet will often show that it is 'in combat', indicated via the flashing icon in the group bar, and the fact that it won't store or respond to commands other than follow, and thatthere are no commands available on the pet from the radial menu (other than "examine" and "follow"); even though there is nothing in the area that is visibly attacking. Something 1km away may have aggro'd it, but I have no way of knowing since that creature will not come and actually engage- it will just hold the aggro, making it impossible for me to use the pet again. The only way to fix this is by logging out long enough for the pet to autostore, leaving your pet behind and getting some distance away (like several km), or zoning out (shuttling) and forcing the pet to autostore.
- Pet stims do not revive an incapacitated pet. I have not tried using medic or jedi healing on incapped pets yet. The only way to revive an incapped pet that I've found is by using the "incapacitation recovery" option from the radial menu. Not only do pet stims do not revive a pet, they don't heal any damage if it's incapped. (wasting a use on theheal and incurringit's associated delay time, basically)
- Pets do not heal while in the datapad. If a pet takes damage, it only seems to heal when it's out of the datapad. If I put a pet with half health into the datapad, if I come back hours later and call it, it still only has half health. At some amount of time the damage is healed, but it may be due to server reset or something as I have yet to notice any significant healing during the course of one play session (a few hours).

>> XP caps at 20K while Tier 1 boxes cost 175K. Needs addressed ASAP as it's gating new players and turning them away from the profession.
Is there a freakin reason this hasn't been fixed? I was so happy when with my new character (as of 1day before revamp) I got novice Creature Handler last night. Then I just noticed I stopped getting xp, at 20k xp. I can't advance without going and trading in 16 standard points for 8 elite points for 1 tier 1 CH box. Which would be little under half of the medic tree. Why is this bug still here??? For newbs this is almost undoable. And it's so unfair that I'd have to go grind half of medic tree, not even do CH, to get a tier 1 CH box.
*cries*
Ok my number one and really only complaint about the CU is that i now have an inventory full of "average" pets.
now dont get me wrong i understand that my BE pets needed to be balanced to this new system this is not what upsets me. What upsets me is i spent a year and millions of credits finding and training my BE pets and now they are all average. and my wild pets seem to be better than BE pets of the same cl. some consideration needed to be made for converting BE pets, the whole point of BE pets was they are hard to make good ones and they are supposed to be better than MOST wild ones. (elite wilds not included , if it takes you months to find somethign it damn well better be good lol) ![]()
all im saying is all of my very loved pets that have been very good to me and were in no way exploits they were just made by BE's that knew what they were doing and made 5th generation pets (which is hard folks very very hard) should not have been made worthless. Im sad becuase now i have to destroy some of my pets or not call them ever becuase i cant bear to see them nerfed or made 228. like my pre CU kwi of 65, 12k hamwhich is now 228. (thats just mean and before you rant about and say he was an exploit he wasnt and think 1 lvl 65 pet out at 12k ham is not absured for the old system.)
now that i have ranted about my beef with th esystem let me say i am mostly happy about this CU and no i have no idea how to go about fixing the converstion i just felt it need to be said and since no one was saying it and im used to people being mad at me ( I am aware that us CH's that use BE pets are not well liked on the forum but i do know that there are more than just me so here i am saying what needs to be said.)
