(1) I really like this idea. A variety of good wild creatures to tame would bring the market for wild tamed babies back.

(2) Gronda juggernaut and a monsterous Brute would be very cool. It would rock!!

(3) God bad or just differant I have always wanted a Tusken Bantha. There is a lot in a name.....

(4) Every creature under 70 should have babies.

(5) No I am not happy with the rate at which rares spawn. It is to low.

One very frustrated CH.

Good question there. From what I can see, the main benefit would be the "coolness factor" and "roleplay factor" of having a pet with the same name and stats as the NPCs. For example, someone who wants to roleplay a Tusken Raider would be able to have a bantha that displays as "a Tusken bantha" in the examine window, and has the same stats players are familiar with from fighting Tusken NPCs.

In addition, this is something else to add to the "blue speckle-throated guf drolg" collectibility factor I've seen people ask for.

Kind of minor points, and obviously not as important as continuing to work on auto-storing and the pathing problems. But as long as we're asking them to poke around the "Tameable: Yes/No" section of the database, it seemed like something nice to add.

Interesting example. If I could play Devil's advocate, how could that scenario play out? You don't see Tusken Banthas alone, and when you engage the Tuskens, the T.Banthas join in. They also seem to respond to the faction-based aggro, since mask scent never works on them; again, a hard scenario to test, since they are always close to Tuskens. So, how would you be able to, role-play-wise, to out-tame a Tusken for his Tusken Bantha?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a cool idea. If made possible, I would be one of the first to try taming a Tusken Bantha, especially after they become mountable. I'm just trying to take your example to a logical conclusion.

2.agree

3. i would really rather see flying mounts

4. ideally lets go for lvl 70. you can make everything over lvl 50 increasingly rare.

5. agree with emphasis on relatively.

I have to admit to being caught off-guard by the mixed reaction to the NPC faction creature deal. Months ago, I remember reading posts every day asking if domesticated tusk cats or Nym's kusak guardians were tameable. Not so much by the people looking for something uber, but more for the roleplay and collectibility value. There are many segments to the CH community, so perhaps this is one of the smaller ones here on the forums. I'll definitely re-evaluate the importance of this item (though I really like Ko-aIri's idea about receiving unique baby animals as CH-specific quest rewards from the various factional NPCs).

Thanks Vertexon.

Just to clarify, I think these "faction-aligned pets" are a great idea, but really only if they are given as some kind of quest reward, I don't see how else it really makes sense to find them.

To build that idea a bit, the creature reward could be given in the form of a "certificate" that is basically a deed. When the certificate is used, the pet appears tamed just like a BE pet would be. Or, it could be a statue clone like a BE deed, so we can drop it in our houses if untamed and use it if we chose. That would make the content viable for non-CH too, as they could use a Nym's Kusak Guardian deed as a house decoration if they can't tame it. So it could be a simple thing thrown into a slight revamp of Nym's theme park, for example. Just one easy one, I still can't figure out what kind of quest would give a Tusken Bantha.

And also, I say push push push 'till you can't push any more on getting us all the CL 70 and under pets. Use the mighty "rebalance" as your ammunition, because they did this balance in order to bring the game into proper form, and if they did it right then the CL 70 and less creatures can't, by DEFINITION, be "unbalanced" or "overpowered." That's our biggest strength in this argument. Either they are balanced, and thus should be tamable, or they are unbalanced, in which case they need to be bumped above CL 70.

I also fully agree a good number of the extincts we want back should be rare. Maybe not rare like the bull rancor or great plains stalker are (which fall under "ridiculously rare"), or like the frenzied graul is (which falls under "extinct until proven otherwise"), but like the mantigrue screecher, swamp stalker, thune grassland guardian, etc. are, which is "attainably rare". And if they make "boss" pets spawn as babies, make them the "ridiculously rare" so they are a suitable reward.

My $.02. This is a great discussion, thanks for doing this Vertexon.

(1) We want more of the powerful creatures like king merek, barkmite burrower queen, kliknik queen, etc to be tameable as rares

Agreed.

(2) We want Boss creatures (wonderous cu pa, diseased vrelt matriarch, gronda juggernaut, vehement warrior, etc) to be tameable as rares. Some are powerful, some are not so powerful.

Initially I agreed with this but then I thought about how this would play out. From my experience, boss mobs arerandom and spawn while in the middle of finishing off a lair which would make them (and any minions with them) automatically aggro on the attackers. I can just see my frustration as I or my pets or my group mates or other mobs kill off any babies before we realize they have spawned. I'm not saying "no" to this idea, but I just question how much fun it would really be in game. Now, if you're talking about them spawning like any other baby, then I'm all for it.

(3)We want creatures associated with NPC factions (Gungan kaadu, domesticated tusk cat, Nym's kusak guardian, Tusken bantha, etc) to be tameable as rares.

This is fine, though I do prefer the idea of them being a quest reward instead.

(4)Ideally we want every creature under CL 50 to be tameable with varying degrees of rarity. At the least, however, we'd like creatures under CL 50 that are never tameable to be the exception rather than the rule (currently not the case).

I agree with many others who state that *all* creatures under level 70 should be tamable. Since the creature rebalancing, I can't think of one reason to keep them from being player pets. (And if all else fails, just make sure that Pharples become tamable!

(5) We are relatively happy with the current frequency of baby spawnsfor creatures that are rares (mantigrue screecher, great plains stalker, bull rancor, etc). While hunting for a baby rare can be frustrating, the sense of reward from achieving success outweighs the frustration.

I'm not qualified to answer this question because I don't hunt rares. Quite frankly, they aren't better pets and I personally see no reason for "camping" lairs for them. (One of the reasons I no longer play EQ is because I abhor camping.) If I had to answer, I would say they are all to too rare - so rare that I don't want to participate. I do understand those who feel a sense of accomplishment when finding one though, and I wouldn't wish to take that from them.

Thanks, Vert, for asking our opinion on these and seeing an opportunity to try to squeeze in a few changes for CH.
