The I think I would like to name something "Pet_Me" and make it follow someone until they pet it. Well it looks like it will be a while before I can transfer a pet though. I had a Nuna all reay to go to. I have two kreetles. One named Kreetle'Bailey and one named Kreetle'Beetle. I'd like to give em away, but oh well.
actually u can use the /pet command and the pet will not follow you.

Too bad the pet doesn't stay out when you use the transfer command, it would bemuchmore amusing.

ok.... i too have done something like this 
get a horse creature (cant recall name or planet 
) or any pet that "barks" witht the stay command
) or any pet that "barks" witht the stay commandsit off in the distance... target player, /tellpet follow, wait for horse to run up to it, /tellpet stay, /tellpet stay, /tellpet stay..... all the time the horse is squaking away at them!
