i also want a way to place to retire old beloved pets, i don't want to delete them. I want to collect them as well and that just isn't practical.

If you want to expand on this and get the artisans some work. Make some pet cages to store in peoples houses... I would have no problems with the pet cages being required for CH and BE to trade a pet. You could use the containers that artisans make for the things that are found in nests (and most of the code for it) just call it a "Cage"
