I noticed the same thing on Tat last night, 1000m out from Bestine (Chilastra server). Happened about 6 times; tried different pets that didn't work. I submitted a bug report. When I tried to call it again I had to hit store 2-3 times first, but it didn't seem like the pet was warping because it was right in front of me fighting, then it was gone, the mobs didn't move, and the group disbanded.
