When elite prof. his test I am going to try quite a few out. I love Rifleman with CH and if the statements by the dev's can be /cough believed it should be an awesome combo. That all depends on what their definition of "tank" is I guess heh

Edit: Also was thinking about BH but will have to test it to be sure..

Your making the assumption that CH will not be a class capable of dealing damage post CU. While the CH skill tree is staying relatively untouched creatures however ARE changing. The devs have stated in the docs
"Creature Handlers are the ultimate in combat versatility. While they have no innate combat capabilities of their own they are able to fulfill almost any needed role as long as they have a pet with the necessary abilities."
So you may very well be able to do damage as a CH. Just my 2 cr.

Nah, I'm hoping they will be a good damage class and I can just deal even more damage on top. I like that CH is a versatile class. However it makes the options a little more confusing do to all the choice.

I just hope that BE critters will be decent under the new system. My final template comes out as TKM/Master Pikeman and CH x4xx. I wanted Master Brawler, but I cant take it unless I drop the CH line

the problem is that there are no npc's to buy from so your forced to buy from even an unfairly priced vendor if you can't find another. for example, i was looking for crafting kits one day and the only ones i could find where -12.xx and selling for 6k on the bazaar. i looked for 2 hours and couldn't find any crafting kits so i was forced to buy those pos ones on the bazaar.

Why didn't you just spend 100 credits and get novice artisan to make your own crafting kits? Or why didn't you ask around to find a Master Artisan who might make you some crafting kits for less? There are always alternatives, even if they may not be very convenient.

that's not the point...the point is that your forced to buy from unfair sellers some times...

so, get the resources yourself, and train yourself to make the item. same goes with loot, if the price is too high, go loot it yourself. you are forcing yourself to buy it. how does the seller force you to buy anything? you click on the "buy" button.

yeah...next time i can't find a buff i'll just grind up medic and doctor to get one...cause i have the sp, resources, and most of all time to do that every time i need something, and once i get there the stat's won't suck on it cause i just happen to have good resources lying around. oh wait now i need a t-21...guess i have to go up all of weaponsmith cause i can't find any non speed sliced one's. then i'll have to grind back up to novice rifleman. now i need a swoop...guess i have to grind all the way up artisan. wish i had some food, i'll just grind up chef...

and the seller doesn't force me to buy, the market does...

There are always alternatives. The seller doesn't force you to buy...no one puts a gun to your head. If you were willing to pay 6K for sub-par crafting tools, then the convenience of getting them right then must of been worth 6K to you. You may not have liked the alternatives, but they are there.

Edit: The market doesn't force you to buy either. You make the decision...the power to buy or not buy is in your hands and no-one elses.

After the CU...

The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer.

You can take that to the bank (and deposit it right next to your CDEF's and your melon).

- I STILL support a rollback to the real SWG.

Course in this economic system, it's hard to stay poor.

Wrong, you are all wrong......at least if you are a supply sider like me!

Inflation has nothing, I repeat nothing to do with the increase or decrease of commodities (goods or services)prices within an economy.

Inflationoccurs where the demand for money (credits in this case) exceeds the supply of money. Deflation is the opposite.

That is all.......

So there is a lot of discussion on what will happen once the CU hits, and thereby how it effects major money-makers like a) buffs, b) armor, c) weapons, and d) solo-ability of much of the content in the game.

Without reading all the posts (though I read most of them), it seems that there will be in increased scarcity of items which are hard to obtain (like GDK scales) because while once solo-able they would now require a group. And in general players of 12+ months will have to radically change what they do in-game and how they make the credits to fund buffs every 3 hours, armor every 2 days, weapons every 2 weeks, and what they solo for fun and profit.

However, I think it's important to note that this CU will happen right as Episode 3 takes hold of the public consciousness, and all the wannabe-fanboy 12-year olds who haven't heard of Star Wars Galaxies will have their chance at a free trial offer with some online game-let to play SWG:E/D-JTL-RoW and thereby will flood the various galaxies. And there will probably be a good lot of 30+ year olds that never thought of trying SWG until it matured a little more.

They'll be interested in playing the this game which so many of us have played so ooooh so long, but they will never know the Janta missions and solo groups and 2600 buffs with 80% comp and mega weapons given to them by discouraged players leaving the game. Ok, maybe a few people will leave the game and some random newb will benefit...

My point is this: When you land at Eisley or Bestine or Kadara and you're faced with playing the game, you go with what you can afford and how you can make money via whatever NPCs or random players you meet along the way. You talk to people, they tell you about this fantasmagoric thing called the Combat Upgrade but you'll not know what they're talking about. You wanna play this game, and you'll do so within the confines of the newly-coded combat mechanics which you've never known any different.

Someone will say "Hey, you get bonuses for grouping and harvesting resources, and this guy is paying 10cpu for hides." So you'll group and harvest.

Someone will say "Hey there's these things called Rancors on Dathomir and they're wicked hard" so you'll get together with 5 other players (maybe) and run off for what will likely be a really fun time. Unless you all die horribly with no loot in the offing...

Back to the point: If SOE is able to get new players in the game, they will be coming in at an entirely new stage of this massively multiplayer experiment. Yeah, you have mega-billionaires with all the loot in the game with 5 alt accounts that play when they want andcan out-spend God for the sake ofbeing cool- but you'll also have a lot of toons running around looking for Assault, Battle, and Reconnaissancearmor as well as weapons and (of course) clothing, houses, and other deco they will invariably need to play the game at their level.

No, they won't be standing in line for Master Docs buffs spammed in Coronet or Theed or whatever your server evolved to tolerate, but they'll probably have a good 'ole time like every one of us had back when we only had 2,120 credits and we thought a set of Bone Armor was the bomb-diggity.

( Flame away lol )

Well this is the definition I pulled from dictionary.com for inflation:

A persistent increase in the level of consumer prices or a persistent decline in the purchasing power of money, caused by an increase in available currency and credit beyond the proportion of available goods and services.

I believe the concept that you're describing is related to episodes of hyperinflation. The supply of money can affect inflation and in fact can cause inflation. The dynamics of real money and inflation are connected and related, but by no means are they the same thing as you state.
