Don't get worried, if this were true, it would be all over the FS forum.

Of course I tend to stay out of there. Sometimes its almost as bad as the BH board.

Anakin: Master, I think my lightsaber is getting dull. Its not doing nearly as much damage as it used to.
Obi-Wan: O.k. when we're done showing the youglings around the temple, we'll stop by the bazaar and you can buy a new crystal. I hope you've got a couple million credits saved up for this.
Anakin: WHAT?!!?? I don't have THAT kind of cash!
Obi-Wan: Well you could try sharpening it on these younglings. I've got a headache and all their questions are driving me NUTS!
Anakin: hmmm.... Sharpen my lightsaber on younglings...... hmmmmmm.....
Obi-Wan: uh, that was a joke Anakin. I'll spot you the cash for a new crystal THIS time, but next time you're on your own.

Has anyone noticed an increase in chances to learn abilities since last patch? ... or was i just damn lucky

last night i learned 2 Level 2 abilities (fleet footed from a rept flyer and bleeding attack from a voritor hunter) after and within the first maturnity level grind of the pet. and after that i learned lightning reflexes level 3 from a lurking shear mite after just 38K of training XP (thats roughly 10% of the 1st level).

i had a lucky streak in taming too - the first 4 tames all had innate abilities (i only tamed 5 pets in all giving me a 80% success rate for abilities).

so i either i was very lucky yesterday or they changed some figures and increased the chances to learn abilities.

I was thinking of being a jedi, I was embarking on a noble quest to readdress the reputation of the saber-wavers, to help new players and use my force skills for the power of good. To not use smack-talk or send hate tells to BH's that got the better of me. To retreat into the wilds of far away planets and commune with nature.

But now I've realised that under the new xp system it will take me till Christmas to complete my FS grind, so sod it.

If solo hunting is now the way forward then I'm extremely glad I am a MCH, I can hunt with my pets who are now more valuable to me than ever. I have done more taming in the past week than Ihave donesince the CU, and I've become attached to the pets I've tamed.

I'm very happy that I kept the faith, and my pets while all around me were losing theirs.

I was out leveling my pets and I realized in the time it takes me to learn two level 2 abilities I could cap all my XP from being a BH and get roughly 300K - 400K CH XP and then realized that by the time I was done learning all the new abilities that I could quite possibly complete the FS grind or come really close. Then I realized something else that almost made me cry. If i got a Jedi I would have to re-learn all the new abilites on a new characterfrom scratch and essentially do the equivilant of another FS grind!

No other normal profession has to grind so long for so little power so why should we?

psst...how 'bout we just play SWG instead of Jedi Wars??? LOL

Why would anyone want to be a jedi? All they do is grind on bols and pickets and moan about how boring it and how long it takes.

At least with our "grind" we are out there having fun taming babies all over the Galaxies, we get the thrill several times a session of finding or learning a new ability, we get to work with our pets and scheme as to what combination of abilities we are going to train them. I know our xp requirement is mind-boggling but at least we have a load of fun doing it.

I was one who was appalled when I saw what we had to do, even logged off in disgust that day of the publish. But since I crept back in and tentatively tamed my first kreetle (muuuhahaaahaaaa - I did that far, far from anyone watching, I can tell you!)and found it had an ability - I was hooked.

I haven't got a spare minute now I am in game. Who would want to be a Jedi?

While I am a relativly new player and new to CH (I was 1114 when patch 21 came out), I think that this new system is great. Before, you had no idea what level a baby was that you were taming without checking swgcreatures.com and once you hada creature close to the level you could control, there was no real reason to tame other creatures as far as combat effectiveness goes.

And as far as it being a terrible grind to learn the new abilities, that is only if you want to learn ALL of them. If youtame a pet with Useless Attack Level 1 there is no reason to raise it until you learn the move.

I do understand that Iam a new player and don't fully understand what the former system was like to play in,I personally don't mind the time it takes to learn new abilities.

Long story short.... Back in december 03 CH recived the mother of all nerfs (which was supposed to be the first patch of the CU)and were reduced to sucha level of uselessness that people would actually laugh at you if you got a pet out before a duel. While players kept getting stronger with 80-90% resist armor and toughness that basically allowed a player character to mitigate 98% of the damage done to them then combined with super powerfull buffs that increases a players health from 500 (which was the average unbuffed max health)to 3500 and regen rates that enabled them to regen damage faster than 90% of the creatures in the game could deal it. So we delt with being useless for 2 years on the hope that the fabled CU that was always supposed to be "just around the corner" would balance us out with the rest of the professions. When the CU finally hit all combat professions actually got stronger while CH was actually nerfed yet again! We were made far weaker than we ever were before and had much of the functionality of our profession eitherstripped away or completely broken (we wonlt even go into how bad the pet conversion was). Now the devs put this system in that only offers to give back part of what was taken away with the CU and to top it all off they attach a Jedi like grind to it.

So yea if you knew the old system you might just have a problem with it.

And no im not going to leave and play something else.

Hey, thanks for the history lesson . After playing for the first time with patch 22 in effect, it seems that every profession is now into a grind to get anywhere. I gave up leveling my TK and just ran around taming pets and looking for new moves (found knockdown 1). 800 exp for killing a level 82 bol just isn't right...
