Thread: Making CH Competitive
Vert,
The reality is right now that we are at least 6 months away from the combat rebalance they have been spouting off about for the last 5 months. Yes I think I could live with the pets losing those stats in conjunction with everyone else being combat rebalanced at the same time to reflect equity across the board. What I can't live with is another 6 months of CM's and TKA's being the arrogant SOB's they are at this time because no one, and i mean no one other than a Master Rifle has a chance of whoopin their sorry butts.
So restore our pets, it's the first step in restoring our confidence that the Developers really give a rats behind about the game, the GCW or anything else other than their pet space expansion. Reality, tell them Put off the SPACE EXPANSION until Christmas and fix what is wrong NOW in the game.
WOW. Barb agreed with me. This really is an April Fool prank right??
I agree with Barb and Pluto 100% so guess what miracles still do happen. And Vert that should be enough to go to the Devs and tell them to fix it cause this has never happened before.
Sky looks up, my goodness it's a blue moon!!

heh when someone has a good idea that is sound and do-able i will support it.
pets already do so little damage that having them more in line with other PVPers only makes sense. nonCH get to dabble with other skills to boost their abilities and CH should be no different. what i wont support is bringing back full on pet damage in PVP. that would upset the boat way too much.
as it is now pets are a non-factor and actually a liability in PVP since the CH cannot really dabble effectively in other classes the way the rest of the combat elites can. and altho i do not PVP we should have a role in the GCW other than comedy relief.
my solution would be to:
(1) increase the state change resistance for larger pets - why should a TKA be able to knockdown a rancor?
(2) allow the 75% damage reduction on pets (therefore no need for reinstatement og previous pet stats)
(3) reduce/ eliminate vitality hit in PvP pet death
(4) make pets use their specials as often as we do in PvP -ie; a pet should be spamming dizzy/ knockdown if its made that way....ie; make them more intelligent!!!!

OK I'm confused then. What combat professions do not have to equip a weapon?
ch is not a true combat profession.
we HAVE to take up an entire other profession to deal damage. ever try to kill a piket lair with a rancor?? your gonna be there a while with that "weapon"

1st.....the primary reason to be a CH is to go out and tame 'wild' and at times dangerous creatures to become our companions. Well now that we can get UBER premade BE pets that outstrip anything we can tame in the wild why would be go out and waste our time risking incap and death if we can get one handed to us for credits.....explain this to me !

And why is it that you don't see that as a problem again?

Looks up sees the bloody miracle
CH is saved WOHOO!!!!!
add me in agreement with the 2 of them. Ch is comedy relief for PVP
My rancor is named "5-second-delay tactic" I use it a psychologiacal warfare. I figure the person behind the toon sees the name and is laughing to hard to spam attacks. It has worked, I even got a /tell saying that was an unfair tatctic they had no choice but to laugh
Vert,
To be honest, I don't believe ANYTHING the devs say about their future plans. They'll always come up with some excuse NOT to nerf the other combat profs and delay the "combat rebalance". Why? Because the subscription cancellations would come so fast that they could not keep up with them, and the doors would be shuttered at SWG central within a week.
I don't think we'll ever see the combat rebalance's final steps implemented. If we do, they can nerf the creatures in the same swoop that they nerf the TKAs, the riflemen, the CMs, the heavy swordsmen, the fencers, the pistoleer, the carbineers, the commandos, the BHs, and everyone else.
I want my pre nerf critters back NOW. I'm tired of waiting for this pack of amateurs to get their act together. I have no confidence in the current live dev team. It is painfully obvious that the second string is on the live game now. They're dropping the ball left and right. The crafting nerf that they planned on foisting on everyone in publish 7 would have done exactly the opposite of their stated intention, and the effort to stop it was led by master crafters who stood to benefit in game from the change, but who are mature enough and care enough about the game to put that aside and do the right thing for the entire crafting community. Unlike the devs. It is painfully obvious that these guys do not know what they are doing; they don't play the game, they don't understand the dynamics. Furthermore, the only people on the forums they listen to are the nerf criers, with a handful of exceptions.
This posting concerns pets that are BE made. (Since SOE wants every class to be utterly dependant on each other.)
1. Allows Weaponsmiths, Armorsmiths, Droid Engineers, and whatnot to craft special item "upgrades" to pets.
2. Put an additive\optional slot on BE critters\ clone data that allows the insertions of special player designed traits to add into critters. (Armorsmiths make dermal plating to add to resists\armor level, Weaponsmiths can add special attack mods that changed the type of damage done, Droid Engineer could add implants that increase accuracy and other cool bonuses.
That way pets would gain VERY cool effects and uniqueness as well as give these other proffessions yet another market.

Lysria,
That is a pathetic answer to anything. As I have stated before Medics do not equip stims as it is now. That is one of our current problems. We have timers that get us wasted in no time flat. If our weapons get wasted in 1-5 seconds as they do now we are done. This stupid pet control device thing I keep hearing cannot work unless Medics have to equip, Musicians equip, Surveryors equip, Weaponeers equip, and EVERYONE has the timer.
Heh. Perhapsmy argument isn't perfect, but it's far from pathetic.
No, medics don't equip stims, but neither do they kill things with 'em. Just maybe if we can actually equate our pets to other combat professions weapons, we could then argue to have the timers removed.
Secondly, it is stupid because DEFENSES still do STACK. You can be a Pistoleer and a Rifleman at the same time. Dodges are more frequent. CH's do not defend anything in PvP. We are so stuck. We get on small PvE bonus. Everyone elses bonus works PvE and PvP.
It's my understanding that defenses no longer fully stack and are capped at 125. Is this not correct? Furthermore, with my proposal CH will still be able to stack with other professions, just as they do today, but without the weapons-grade pets.
The only way to make CH mean anything at all is to make non-CH mean less. I am so tired of hearing I can be anything else with CH. There are so many different professions that allow for multiplicity of professions. It is how the game is designed.
I'm not sure I understand your first sentence in this last paragraph. It sounds as if you are calling on a nerf of everyone but CH. (I'm not being sarcastic. I don't think that's what you mean, but that's how it reads to me.) And I agree about being told we can be another combat profession. I don't want to *have* to be another combat profession just to be comparable to any other elite combat profession alone. This is the reason for my proposal.![]()
