Thread: You can't tame that bug is still around!
I agree that there a multiple causes. Last night while trying to tame a peko peko (baby), I got the error message. Upon exmination of the animal the creature was listed as tamable: no???? I took a screenshot because I thought this was wrong. I then tried to tame a fawned rawl (baby). Same error message, but when I tried to examine this creature I received a window with the creatures picture but no stats. I took a screenshot of that too. Went to fight in the same area some of the adult fawned rawls with my nightspider. The nightspider became incapped, after I did the incap recovery I ran into yet another bug. I was receiving messaging saying that I could not heal the nightspider. It was at this point I decided to log and send some screen shots in with the external bug tool.
The one thing I did not report was that when I returned later in the night I found another fawned rawl (baby). Tried to tame it,got the typical 'Can't tame' error message. But upon examination I got the window that said fawned rawl is no match for you.
That being said, I think I shall be copying this post into the Live Bug thread.
Edit: Only if I could type faster, Freeman would have seen this

Would you consider changing this to:
You cant tame that because the animal is retreating.
You cant tame that because its not an animal/baby.
etc...etc...etc...

If I can take a quick stab at this issue...
There is a bug, where every so often you run across a mission lair where every creature defending the lair, and spawned by the lair will be not recognized as a critter. Unfortunately I can't think of a way to reproduce this, but I see it mostly on Tatooine, but since I hunt there most often that probably doesn't help. The only thing I can say is grab a group of devs and do critter mission lairs for a few hours and see what happens.
These critters will give an error message when you try to trap and harvest, so I'm assuming it might be related to the 'can't tame' bug.
I am also assuming that for some reason the game is not recognizing the critter as an actual critter, and treating it like an NPC, where you can't trap, harvest, or tame those.

I have found that when I come across a baby that I can't tame, that if I /ex it, I see one of two things:
A) No info on tamability, meat, hide etc.
B) Tamable: No
Most are A, but I have come across a Crazed Durni (Baby) and a Piket Longhorn (Baby) that when I /ex them, the Tamable option was "No." This also seems to be related to a BE bug where you cannot Sample DNA from the target.

You see a baby that you want to tame. You walk up to it, target it, /fo /tame. You get the message you can not tame that. Examine baby. if it says tammable: yes do the following.
Call your highest level pet. (group it or not doesnt matter).What does matter is that its cl + babies cl > than your controllable cl. target baby. /fo /tame
you get the message Calling this pet would exceed your ability, or whatever the text is.
store your pet, /tame tada all fixed now.
Like I said this has worked 100% of the time for me, I stumbled across this fix oh hell a month ago or so, dont know why just thought I would try it and it worked. Only been bugged a total of 4 times. And every single time that the baby was able to be tamed according to the examine screen this has unbugged me. Good luck and hope it works for you.
*giggle* ch taming macro roflmao, a guildie asked me if I had a macro today for ch and I couldnt believe my ears hehehe, guess this is why I dont stop into the forums very often. Not a slam or a flame, but *giggles* really? A taming macro?!?! *rofl* *tears pour down my cheeks* hehehe this just tickles me. I need sleep! Thanks for the giggle everyone! *hugs* and good night!

I am on Ahazi, at this very moment, trying to tame a ronto (baby). I get the "you can't tame that" message. I have a level 69 gaping spider hunter following me around. I'm ONLY getting the "you can't tame that" message.
And now for the kicker: I was able to tame a bull ronto baby that was 45m away from the ronto baby I'm told I can't tame. AFTER I got the "you can't tame that" message, I tamed the bull ronto baby. Then I released the bull ronto baby and went back to the ronto baby. STILL get the "you can't tame that" message.

I was on Talus and came across a warren with dalyrakes, and decided to tap the lair to see if any babies popped out. Started out with killing the dalys outside the lair, and usually I just start with a snare to slow the animals down a bit. When I initiated the attack the combat music would start to play but the icon in my toolbar turned red as if it will not fire, and then the music stops. This happened with all the animals. A baby popped out and when I tried to tame it I got the bug. So I killed all of them and the lair too. Another lair was nearby and I targeted one of the animals, and /ex-ed it. The only info that came up was the difficulty level, not the tamable info or nothing else. So I target another creature and /ex that, and suddenly all the info is there. And after that the combat icons function properly, and I can tame again.

Logged in (logged out about 10 hours before). Travel via Starport from Dath to Moenia. Start traveling due north and get the message on the next dozen or so straight tames. Try the pulling pets thing....no better. Kill a chuba......I can tame everything again.....see a NPC named....'a vesert vesp'...... /shrug
Usually the bug is only on certain tames for me. This time, it was on all tames.
OK Aug 13 th tried taming Eopies and Judland eopies I am a MCH "I can't tame that" waited 60 seconds Still "I can't tame that".Logged to charachter selection screen; hit next. Still "I can't tame that".Currently logged completly going to try a full scan and see if that helps.
