Thread: Low CL Pets have no chance
i have recently been using my Gaping Spider Hunter lvl62(not yet to 69 yet) against lvl72's and just like the majority of my pets, even the lvl55's they dont take too bad of a beating, if for one thing i am 100% sure to aways only pull one creature at a time.
for the original poster exactly how many creatures at a time are you attacking with your pets?
not sure if this is your case, but if i pull one creature at a time, for example using a lvl55 slinking voritor, i embolden him, gives him close to 900extra health points, even when fighting a lvl73ish creature, aslong as i help he barely will go past 3/4 health.

Still a fair amount of people who try and fight pre-cu ways which doesn't work anymore. But I was in a much better group last night who understood that it is not wise to just wade in and start trying to kill mass CL79 mobs at once.
So let pet pull one then chop it up, repeat until all gone, works very well
Since this is how I have always done battle and the way I have always taught others i won't have to relearn

And I think it is great that my pets (any lvl) are now great at pulling.

You dont get it? It wasn't the Strenght factor that people liked using 2 or 3 pets at a time. It was the fun of it. I loved using 2 or 3 pets and If you knew how to make the right natrual teams or even if you had good BE teamed pets you where strong. Running aournd star ports with 2 or 3 critters was fun. Naming them like more larry and curly was fun too. Using 3 pets could be intimidating. Battle wise those 3 pets could have had different specials for instance
2 pets with high kinetic res. run in and tnak the mob, while one stands back and uses ranged. The pets tanking could have stun, blind, intimidate, and dizzy. The pet shooting has poison. You are standing back shooting or in my case fighting beside your pets. Pet stims are used to heal your pets..... maybe you didnt know that wild creatures cant heal themselves. The pet with ranged has higher damage then the others so he is kicking butt, helping, and acting as part or the team. Thats how I would use my pets. It was all about strategy and skill. Maybe you where just lazy or bad MCHs cause if you ask me that was more fun then whipping out one big strong pet. When you used to do that I would be like darn whenI would usemy frenzied grual and watching a BH whip out a scatter pistol and tare it to part cause it wasnt strong agains acid. PETS ARE BORING AND DUMB NOW. JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER MMORPG THEY ARE PRETTY MUCH USELESS! CH was a game in a game for those who loved it and almost all that we love went out the friggen window when the CU went live thats why people dont like it and thats why people arnt happy screw any new strategy and ways to use pets cause it will never ever ever be the same.
The Devs basically took my two favorite combat profs -- CH and TKA -- and drained all the fun and interest out of them. Both profs already bore me and it's only been a week. I wonder if I will even bother keeping my subscription in a month or so...

I am new to CH and because I didn't do it under the old system, I am loving it. I had originally planned to do it a year ago, but have only now got around to it. Admittedly I am still only hunting on Tat with a group, drawinginglvl 80 missions. I am using my veractyl and a wild dewback, they have been amazing and it's been fun using them. I am still learning how to use them in battle, but I am very pleased with how they have done.
I am not advanced enough to tackle taming more dangerous creatures yet, but I am looking forward to it. It gives me a real buzz when I have tamed something and training it is rewarding too.
dbl90 wrote:Swamp Stalkers (Thank G-d I kept one) seem to be doing alright for low CL pets...and I've seen some BE pet combos that have done quite well. The strength of CH is dependent on the group, the pets, the user's other profession, and the style in which that person plays.
I think you're right, but I also think that's rather sad.
It used to be that CH was a viable profession to have regardless of your style, what group you were in, and so forth. You didn't need "uber" pets to have fun with the prof. You didn't need "the right" complementary profession in your "template". You didn't need to be a master or near-master CH. Almost any pet from level 15 or so and up could be useful in the right situation.
It used to be, as an MCH, I had a variety of pets, and there was always one that was appropriate for a given situation. Which was appropriate depended on the circumstances. NOW, I just pull muy level 60+ pets, and which one I pull seems pretty much irrelevent because they all have identical stats and no specials. There was subtlety and variety to using pets before. Now, they are just, as one person put it, bags of Health and the equivalent of a very small DOT.
