Thread: Stopgrowth command? Stunt creature growth? I know this was mentioned before?
A guildie had a Giant Carrion Spat full grown prior to the patch. When he pulled it out it was BIG. He answered yes to the stunt growth prompt and when it came back out it was a bit smaller (but still very big). The CL also dropped in his case from 17. He indicated it had dropped to 7. He called an adult Brackaset he had stored and when he mounted it, it remainedthe same size and CL.
My conjecture is the spat model used is the CL 10 Carrion Spat. The Giant Carrion Spat gets so much visually larger than the Carrion Spat that size reduction to fit within the visual framework of the game graphics was necessary. To do this a CL decrease was used to reduce the Giant Carrion Spat's visual size to the allowable parameters of the graphics. Apparently that CL is below 10. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 are the first six CL of growth that should occur in a GCS. So 7 and 9 may both fit within the same visual parameters since size doesn't increase with each CL increase necessarily.
Now to extapolate the above, I would presume any mount that has a small CL 10 variety and another tamable variety which is much larger visually will act as the Spat. I.e. when the larger variety gets to a certain graphical size it will offer the option of stopping growth which will result in both a visual reduction of size and a CL reduction (CLreduction used to get the visual size reduction).
Incidentally the GCS will likely remain a CH only mount since it is aggressive, and as we know, those not trained in CH can't call an aggressive.
How's that for conjecture mixed with fact?

I have two Giant Carrion Spats I picked up the day before patch day. They were both CL3 (I think) whenI tamed them in the wild. On patch day, I logged on, called them both, and immediately trained them as Mounts. I haven't gotten the option to "stop growth" yet....one is now CL8 and the other CL6.
Since we can't give the GCS to a non-CH because it's aggro, I don't *want* to stunt it's growth. I want to ride around on the biggest GCS possible. My question is this: if you are given the option to "stop growth" and you answer "No", will the pet still be a mount? I know I've seen GCS's that are bigger than mine being ridden around by other CHs.
Side Note: Someone earlier said something about being able to stop growth since it was stated that all toons could use all mounts, regardless of whether they were CH or not. This is true. But maybe the devs' answer to this is the introduction of variant creatures (i.e. the lowland brackeset, the lesser bol, the motley kaadu, etc.). Just food for thought.
Oddly though, a Bio-Engineer said he got the message about his existing torton. He made a deed and had me teach transfer to the baby so we can attempt to train it as a mount later on. We doubt it will work, but found it interesting that it gave the option to stunt its growth.

I feel we could use a nice official explanation on a few things about mounts.. the "official Mount Manual"(http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/manual_detail.jsp?id=59351)is really lacking.
One thing I'm afraid of is having creatures in my datapad that will grow too big to even be transferred. Making them hard to sell.
An offical answer would sure be nice.. (been trying tokeep it at least near the front page once a day or so)
My understanding, and this is only based on reports from Test Center, is that giant carrion spats can get too big to be a mount. When it outgrows this size, it gives you the option to leave it at mount size once, which will revert it to its largest mountable size. If you don't select "yes", that spat will never be mountable again.
You'll probably know by today.
