I've gotten permission to post the following:

Keldarin theSWG Live - Lead Systems Designer (sometimes referred to somewhat misleadingly as "the BE Dev" )has agreed that pet vitality loss in PvP is not in keeping with the relaxed decay penalties now applied toward items in general. As such, he will look into getting PvP pet deaths tracked in a similar way that player deaths are tracked and prevent vitality losssimilarly to prevention of item decay for player deaths.

Please note that this will most likely not be a trivial change so it could take a while to get implemented. It most certainly will not be able to make the current Publish.

Wow, I think I'm in shock, lol - very cool, thanks for the info Vert

If this comes true, weapons armor and everythjing else meitoned willl NOT be decayed

If this part is going to be true.

Then the whiners wont have anything to stand on when pets dont get hit in the vit area

Im looking forward to this when its implemented as it means ill finaly be able to have a go at PvP without worrying about my fav pets being beatn to a pulp.

Nice. I thought they were only removing decay from death, though. Are they saying that weapons won't decay and armor wont decay from hits either in PvP?

Sweet, now all we need is the return of the extinct pets, and the implement of new creatures that are cl 60+

Part of the problem is that combat itself is still bugged. If you had decent heat resist on your rancor (You can get above 90%), then you SHOULD be able to laugh at a commando with a flamethrower. However, the DOT system is flawed, so that the initial flame damage is reduced but not the DoT damage. That's one of the reasons animals drop so quickly. That should change in the next build or two.

I think a good rule of thumb is that a creature should last roughly as long as a well-crafted weapon. Right now, PvP grief excluded, pets last much much longer.

My weapons and armor will still decay from use. Your meatshield won't.

The thing alot of you seem to forget is that DoT's will be subject to armor and resistances aswell, which will make your meatshield last considerably longer.

Don't count on this ever going through in-light of TH's recent PvP decay upon death statement...

Thats what they were originally planning, but, right on que(last minute) SOEbacks out, saying "the game cant tell the difference between PVE death and PVP death..so we have to leave it in..for now(4 months later....) or something to that effect...

Oh well, maybe next publish or the one after that. atleast now the pet decay removal and weapon armor decay removal will beremovedat the SAME time(hopefully)... so neither side can whine and **edit** about the other

Just as with armor, and item when they change it, pets should not take a vit. hit in PvP.
