It can be done in twenty hours. Though by the end you will have carpal tunnel.

You just get the weakest pet you can find find a suitably hard dungeon packed with other players, and sick your pet on the npcs or critters the other players are fighting. Its not terribly hard aslong as your quick about it and do not waste anytime.

Fort tusken is the best in my oppinion aslong as the other fighters are weak enough that you can just run around like crazy poping your baby kreetle on each tusken you see another player fighting.

Though I agree with the other players. You may get the skillboxes but not get the skills. Fighting in concert with a pet requires practice. You will also want to do it when it is challengeing. Just going to rancors and then useing those to kill nunas will not teach you how to fight with your pet when the fight is a closer affair.

You want to know how to fight one on one with your pet how to control two pets at once. How to handle large mobs. How to move how to judge when to stim the pets. To quick and you pay the price too slow and you pay the price. You need to know the right times.

Plus you want to learn the aspects of your pet, and how to control them. Some pets are increadibly fast, and can end up pulling the mob away from where you want it to be. You also need to get used to takeing your pets vulns into account. Nothing worse then belatedly realizeing gee this pet is vuln to energy, and I sent him against npcs.

Anyway you look at it you may be able to burn through all the boxes in less then a day, but you will not be able to cheat the learning curve. My favorite story is one day I was talking to another MBH, and he said can you tell me how to do offworld bounty missions. I was shocked, and asked what you buy this account on ebay. How did you master bh and not do these missions. His reply was that someone in his player city had put a base out, and given him the vuln timer. So all he did for a couple months was slice the base everyday. After he got to invest 2. After further discussion I discovered he had no clue what lightning single 2 did what underhand shot was about, and he didnt even know about half the weapons he was qualified for were for. The point is unless you take the time to learn as you go. The end result is you will not be able to use the profession to full effect, and plus your going to be ignorant about alot of cool features you will have never had to use since you were busy grinding.

Yeah, it took me about 4 months and I don't regret anything. I learned so much about CH in that time. I know I never would have learned nearly as much had I grinded it, or even had a master combat prof at the time. It's definatly about the journy and not the destination.

lol funny story about the bh

heres another

I once saw a guy selling a rancor it was a prepatch bio pet lvl 1/0

(Please no ranting about these pets lol its just a story and I agree with you hehe)

anyways I told him the history of these pets and that maube he should not be spamming it in public.

his reply was "why its a level 1 rancor"

I said no its not its a bugged pet and some have said csr's frown apon them and may take action.

his reply "you don't know what your talking about its not bugged its a level 1 rancor and its fine you can go to dath and find a alot of them if you wanted"

at this point i said believe me or not its your choice good day and good luck.

I wonder how many other players out there are totally clueless to creature levels and what they effect lol I'm syre stats are well known due to armor and such but understanding creature lvl's ham and such seems to be a lost art :-)

i agree Joe, recently we had a MCH (he made it b4 i did) ask how to TAME a critter, said he'd never done it before.....i find this sad....i started my charecter on september 1st, and just over the holidays made MCH and MRM in a 2 day span...this was slow, but quite enjoyable, i never got burned out, never "grinded" , i learned alot....i try to help all the new ch's i find....if i have time....and i understand my proffesion....fighting with pets is an art...and quite fun, i can take most missions without buffs or armor, tho i do use them, not because i am uber, but because i use each pets stats to the fullest....and as a MCH i rarly ask another ch "cool where did u get that see thru snake!" ....no joke a MCH asked me that one time (i was a 2.2.2.2) at the time.....how sad.....

Cheers to all joining the ranks! it's the best prof going...

I have been MCH since I started the game back in 7/03 an thought I will never lose the profession because it was my first master and I love my pets. But if I were you I would really not rush. Like much in this game after they update things there are disapointments for some and happiness for others but the CH has seen not much in the line of good things. I'm not saying we have been nerfed more or less then others I'm just saying that you may log on one day and realize that really cool pet you tamed that took you weeks to find is now not worth having. Back when I started I had no idea what I was doing and it took my about 1 month to master the profession. Back when paying 10k to be tought by and NPC was a hard thing to pay for. Just enjoy the walk to the levels and go outside and enjoy RL once in a while. Saw a funny quote in a gaming mag this month. It went something like this " I have mastered the universe, I fear nothing butgirls and sunlight".The game wont change much if you do. And your pets wont be good for much other then showing them off and tanking. Which after you had them for awhile you hate to see them die even tho you know they will come back. Anyway just enjoy the leveling getting it fast wont make it any better it will just make it not mean as much to you.

Sometimes I like my creatures other times they are as useful as a bag of hammers.

It took me about a month to master. I never even attempted to grind CH, I preferred to do it the long way, despite how frustrating it often got. Besides, I'm one of those master CHs that still has a lot to learn about the profession. I can't imagine how clueless I would be if I could have somehow managed to get master in less time.

First time around:
Pre-Nerf powerful pets, Large groups killing everything in sight, Dual pet XP. 2 months of hardcore playing (July - Sept 03)

Second time around:
Buffs (including my pets) Armor, Me tanking for my pets took 3 months( October 03 - Jan 04) of hard core play and I was a CH for over 1 year (July 03 - August 04) so I didn't have much to learn.
About the middle of my grind I started doing the village grind cause I wanted a 2nd character, I cashed in My Rifle xp and then Maxed it out another 13 times ( yeah 11.7 Million rifle xp to 1.17 mil CH xp I had 20000 banked from when I was a master).

Well, I started my path to master CH in Nov 2003, when farstar launched. Was master before the end of march 2004, but i didnt grind in any way, and tried to learn as I went, I also for the most part used natural pets, even bagging me a swamp stalker along the way, a long time before I hit master.

I play regularly on testcenter, and have recently ground up to masster Ch on there as well, in preperation for the CU stuff should it hit tc as part of the open beta program.

I used bio pets, and was master pistoleer and have access to buffs from my doc character whenever I needed.
took me less than a month, but had it been my first time as a CH, doing it that quickly would leave me a master without a clue. It really gives you know clue to the abilities and problems of the profession at all.

Not how Id recommend someone to do CH the first time for sure.

My advice is to always just play, do things that are fun, xp comes along naturally anyway.

I've done CH twice now. First time was on Ahazi. It was what I wanted to be from the time I started playing SWG. Was also still learning the game when I reached Novice, so it took me about 3 months to reach master. Then my husband and I decided to move to Bloodfin. I first made my char a swordsman/doctor. Kept her that way for a few months, then got bored with doctor and dropped it for ranger. Changed my mind about Ranger and decided to completely redo my template one last time to Teras Kasi/CH (which is ironically the exact template of the char I made on Ahazi when I first started playing hehe). This time, CH took me about 4 days total to reach master. I love CH, and I should have known that that is what I'd end up as when we first switched servers, but I had to try other professions, I guess.

I'm doing CH and Carbine specialist taking my time and loving it.Don't spoil the fun, take your time.Learn to use your pets to the best of their abilities.I used to grind on Naritus when it was the holocron madness and i didn't enjoy any profession.Don't make the same mistake alot of us did because we wanted a "flashlight" to fight.

My first climb to MCH was from late July to lateAugust of 2003, doing a lot of group hunting on places like Talus, Lok, Endor, Dath, Dant, and Yavin IV. Also a lot of taming on Corellia.

Second climb started just after pub 10 went live, when I finally gave up the Jedi grind and began reclaiming boxes from 0/0/0/4, using a giant carrion spat for most of the combat, and no taming at all, the datapad was filled up. This took about three months off and on playing to get back to MCH.

Not giving it up again.
