Thread: remote control devices for Droid Engineers, Squad Leaders, Creature handlers and bio-engineers

This debate is all based on what creature handlers were and are today. Also what combat professions are today.

This will all change shortly, from the little I can gleam from statements TH and others have said everything as we know it is going to change. To continue to insist this is what we need is premature.

Granted a little discussion is good and trading ideas is always cool, It seems the emotional climb in this thread is imo digging a little too deep since the future is unknown.

It has been stated there will be such a change in professions that skill points traded via "Frog" will happen. It has also beenhinted that in some areas skill trees may change.

Dabbling or multi - professions is still going to be allowed but stacking defenses as in the past will not be happening. The CH profession is unique and balancing other professions with ours is not easy. If these controll devices are ever put inplace I for one shall drop the ch profession. This will make us unable to be a multi profession character short of crafting with ch.

Aswordsman/rifleman for example capablelong range power and short ranged power is capable and from what I see may still be possible after the curb. Sure you may say that to utilise one profession you must switch weapons and cant use both at the same time.

A CH cannot switch pets, nor weapons if a control device is in place, that easily. Storing pets at the wrong time (Forget timer issues) can result in a long delay with no defenses not to mention the act of storing takes your eyes of the screen. even in toolbars having too many pets in short keys will result in leaving other battle keys out unless you switch panes. This imo is alot more difficult than what many here seem to believe. I would not want to have to make a special toolbars for 22 varius pets in different combinations just to play this game in combat with my ch profession.

You all make some very intelligent suggestions. In the end it comes down to what/how the community as a whole views the ch class. I for one do not look at my pets as weapons nor shields, yes at times I use them as such but pets are just that pets. If I wanted a droid I would buy one. If I wanted a remote control robot I would suggest it in another forum. This debate is really about how you view ch not combat roles.

CH will never be fotm as in the past the skill tree restructed back in 03 will keep it from becoming what it once was. If for some reason it does and I am proven wrong then changing the skill tree with more emphasis on the higher tier boxes and master would change that.

In pvp no matter how you slice it, you kill the handler and the pets are non issue. People will not want master ch for pvp when they can hit you with a mindshot from 60m then run up and pound your brains in up close with a hammer lol.

Each to his own and like I said its an interesting and intelligent discussion.

I know your not flaming lol. no worries here

Truthfully the hangup here is on the words combat profession. Yes Th said we are considered combat. He said this in context about the curb and how they were viewing us. We all know devs included that ch is unique and the problems of balance are going to be unique in comparison to other professions.

I understand fully what you are saying and I think its very thought out and intelligent.

Its just that it will not be a ch profession in the manner most people want. most people who have posted here agree with you. and honestly the reason why many do not post disagreeing is they don't want to get into an argument and start a flamewar lol.

I am sorry but I think most feel as I do, we simply do not want remotes and want to use weapons with our pets. Unfortunatly you may be 100% correct but it will not change how people percieve the ch profession and why they take it up. I hope you understand its not personal and your ideas are worthwhile. Just dont be dissapointed.

If this was ever going to be implemented I think the majority of thecommunity would explode in outrage.

hmm ok stupid analogy lol.

Its like having a sword that shoots laser bolts 50m lol. If I wanted to fire lasrer bolts I would buya gun lol.

People think of pets as compatriots travelling the galaxy along side them ever watchful ever loyal.

actually something i forgot to mention about the "device" or "whip" as another poster suggested:

1. When a creature handler is holding the "device or whip" then the following specials (these are just examples) would be unlocked in the same maner other combat professions have their specials with their weapons on hand:

a. Bite - would provide an AP1 attack
b. Claw - would provide an AP2 attack
c. Tail Whip - would do a "down" posture change or better known as knockdown
d. Growl - would provide an Intimidated state
e. Stomp - would provide a Dizzy or Stun state even make it AoE (area of effect) depending on pet size

**These are mear example of what would be accomplished with the creature handler had a "device / whip" at hand as opposed to a weapon.

I think at somepoint i made it seem like a "device / whip" would be required to ONLY control the pets, i only ment a "device / whip" to "UNLOCK" specials unique only to the creature handler in the same way other combat professions have theirs when they use their weapons.

Example: you have your pets out, you put your weapons away and use the "device / whip" to make the pet use the above example of specials and have pets become primary means of damage, if you dont like the way the fight is going simply go back to your main weapon and your pets simply continue to act as meatshield or simple companions.

Hope this makes more sense on all my posts

That poster would have been me

I've been throwing out that idea quite a bit because I feel it gives CH more versitility and the opotunity to be a players solo combat proffesion or used to compliment another. Obviously pet defenses have to be relatively increased for it to be worthwhile. This means when using a weapon the pets can only really act as tanks with DPS being almost anecdoteal but when using the CH item the specials that you could command a pet to use would increase their DPS to be on par with other combat proffesions.

I'll probably make a more coherent and detailed post on this sometime.
