lol
go to bed early and look what I missed, I feel bad for the armorsmiths, and other crafters but thats another story.
It sure reminds me of the old days on the ch forum
I think being a correspondant in todays envirement is a no win situation
its too bad really, they want a cor to be the whipping boy while ignoring the majority off what the cors bring to them.
I also have been told a couple of devs left around the time the decision was made to put the curb live, they wanted more time to work on the original cu that has been worked on for a year, but the powers that be said do this quick curb that was whipped together in 2 months so they could time it with the movie release.
I feel for the devs who left, but admire them for standing they're grounds.

The LucasArts Job posting board. About a month or 2 ago a few jobs were posted to the site that by coincidence just happened to be the job titles of some red names that went silent.

And jope, where do you get this kind of info? A "reliable source"?

Hmm reliable source lol. is anything reliable here lol.
truthfully yes and no.
Its reliable that the individual who told me the devs left is a stand up guy and is privy to some stuffingame.I cant elaborate more. but its an inside source through a third party. I also have read the same thing in a few forums to confirm the departure.
The timeframes of this correlating with the news breaking of the curb going beta is just math that adds up and people specutating why they left, since at least one of them was a respected individual.
As sio has said the documents and work done prior to this release dont match up to what we are given today.
The rumor of an arguement arising our of marketers vs devs demanding that swg push something forward to coincide with the movie since it is a perfect time for publicity and a launch and the original curb being replaced with this due to lack of time. Is just that a rumor.
taking everything into account it would seem the rumors are true, based on some facts and some speculation of why.
IMHO I think its accurate and believe it. I cannot 100% say its 100% true since I am not sitting at the board member table at soe lol.

oh yeah and about those documents.
Remember the original CU documents?? the ones that all the Corrs were behind?
Why is it that most of the Corrs of that time dislike the CU?
BTW this is something Tragus (former DOC Coor) pointed out on the medic/doc forums).
To elaborate, the CU is not a fix. It is a Complete rebuilding of the game. The problem with this is in starting over you pull up the roots of everything as well.
This isn't a patch. It's SWG 2.0. Some people will want to play the new game. Some people will want their old one back. The problem is, unlike games like quake, or jedi knight, you can't just dust off the old CD and relive the old fun.

Well, the job openings could have been created two ways: replacing emptied seats, or expansion. And since the job postings were accompanied by lots of glowing announcements at the beginning of the year that LucasArts was expanding their involvement with the game (and adding dev bodies to increase SOE's ability to multitask on development projects), I would lean towards the notion that the openings were related to expansion. Of course, since I have no access to the inner workings of SOE, I don't know this....

And to think, I left CoH to come here. I had a kick butt mentalist too, shame.

Yup which is why even though I give him flak I still don't dislike Vert, nor blame him (not completely, but the whole specials "work flawlessly" is still beyond reasoning) it is his job. He is not even a direct line, just a bag man that tries to put everything we say on this board into an email to tiggs. And rules are rules, even if the rules are just a despots way of making sure they can do whatever they want without paying for it.
Just out of interest, It's like the people who complain about EA's business practices and then go out and buy the latest blockbuster, makes no sense to me.
Dissent comes in many forms. Protest can be accomplished many ways. But sometimes the best way to do both is to be inside where your voice carries loudest. And if you want a different answer......
"..how can you view a game developer as a despot and still pay them money monthly to play their game?"
"..how can you view a game developer as a despot and still pay them money monthly to play their game?"
A. because I can afford to
B. because my friends wanted to play this game next
C. I have had many friends in my life that did things I did not like, but that did not make them not able to be my friends. People can change, but not unless they know they are (messing) up.

Very very true. This is not an update, nor a rebalance, or a new set of changes to a core system. This is an entirely reworked game- an entierly new core system, to match the format of its closest competitors in order to draw more players and money.
