Yeah, as nice as this sounds to have pets be more "real" from what people are saying it sounds like more of a pain than a benefit. We should not need to have looping follow macros to control pets. I think the best way to deal with something like this would be to have the guard command be more of a toggle between 3 different modes: Aggressive (attacks everything based on ferocity), Defensive (guards the CH when attacked by something), and Neutral (which makes it so the pet does not aggro anything, but just follows the CH). That seems like a reasonable solution for those that want their pets to attack, but also for those that need control in certain situations.

Where you wearing any skill CH skill mod clothing when this is happening? I havent had any problems with pets running off but I just realized I never take off my Taming shirt (Man I just realized it might be a good idea to wash it once in awhile, no wonder all the dancers in the cantina were giving me funny looks).

Creature Ferocity level is working again. I noticed today that aggressive creatures around me were attacking other creatures. I thought that was odd, hadn't seen it for a long time. Then I saw a domesticated tusk cat attack some fambaas. The domestic tusk cat is not an agressive creature or a stalker, but it does have a ferocity of 8. Very intersting. So I pull out my rancor (natural, not a BE), has ferocity level of 10. Sure enough, wasn't too long before he decided to snack on some gualamas. After his snack, I decided to tell him to stay. But he didn't listen too well and was back at it. I saw him start wandering toward something else, I told him to stay, but he kept on going and then attacked. Needless to say, this will make creature handling (at least natural pets) much more intersting and exciting.

I certainly noticed this last night. I didn't know what had gotten in Peek's water but, damn, was she angry!
As funny as this was, I have to say I imagine in the long run that this will be very annoying. I'd say at the minimum that the pets should obey the stay command. I understand if a particular aggressive pet runs off to attack something while we're moving through the wilderness. But if I tell the pet to stay, they should stay!
I guess worst case scenario I'll have to run a looping follow macro but sure seems like a lot of trouble for some minor amusement (and annoyance).

My rancor ran off to attack some paralopes and durni tonight south of Coronet. The gurreck, on the other hand, is well behaved at all times.

I kept wondering why my rancors kept running off the radar suddenly but then 5 minutes later coming back, and also why they were attacking chubas.....it certainly looks nice, but now i can't keep control of my rancors :/.

This is a Royal Pain! On Endor my TMB would constantly kill Swirl Prongs, I would tell it to follow me, and it would, for about 3 seconds, then it would make a U-turn, and go after more Swirl Prongs. He was acting like he had rabies. Today on Dant, my Prowling Gurreck was going insane. I went AFK to take out my laundry, i was not near ANYTHING within 90M. I put him on guard mode, made sure my Mask Scent was just started. I get back after a few minutes, and he is is gone. He is 120M away attacking a Pickett, there are Bols there, Hurtons, and a Janta. GOOD JOB GUARDING ME, BUDDY! About 10 min later, same thing, I had to AKF for a few minute to take care of something else, this time I put him on guard and stay. I get back and where is he? is he 'guarding' me? no. he is 85M away in the middle of a pack of Hurtons. I am unbuffed letting my health regen, and what does he do? Since his health is getting low, he runs towards me. GREAT JOB!!!! On Dath, my Rancor decided he did not want to follow me around, instead, he decided he wanted to go off, 160m off, and snack on that Malkloc. In the process of doing that, I guess he agroed some Nightsister slaves, and Rebels along the way.
Yes, this NEEDS to be fixed. when I first saw this, I thought it was 'cute', not anymore. I have so little control of them. As a Master Creature Handler, I expect to Handle my Creatures, not have them run around munching on Swirl Prongs or Malklocs. It is somewhat pointless to have a 'guard' mode when they are over 100m doing their own aggressive thing.

Yeah, I finallyl tested this and my BE'd Angler with 0 ferocity was running off after everything in sight. It is definitely more a pain than it is a benefit. As I said previously, there needs to be some sort of toggle for those who want this behavior vs. those who don't.

YEAH I know what you mean, I found a Great Plains Stalker spawn last night and there was Violent Khrabu(sp?), Wrix of all kind, and rat things all around and it was attacking stuff as soon as it spawned. no baby though >_<

I've done a little testing on this. Using a BE Pet with 0 ferocity that is a non-aggresive when found in the wild, I had no problem controling the pet. However, using a BE Pet with 0 ferocity that is an aggresive creature when found in the wild, I had problems controlling her. I also found that using the follow command was more effective than the stay command when a pet wants to aggro on something. So I guess until we are given some better way of controlling our pets when we want to, I'd suggest using a BE'd non-aggressive creature when you need to do some serious, focused hunting.
