This is just speculative of course, but I have a feeling giving us more pet storage has nothing to do with database constraints. I suspect it is more a balance type of issue where the Devs felt we were being given an appropriate amount of pet storage that was in line with their "vision".
I see the what we need to do is challenge the "vision" and be able to back it up with concrete reasoning (just because we want more space isn't necessarily a good reason for giving it).I seriously doubt the Artisan vendor nerf was in line with a balance "vision." Unless they were afraid of the vendors taking up arms with crafted flamethrowers and laser rifles and rebelling...?
Owner: Get back to work! I'm paying you aren't I?
Vendor: Yeah, 1 credit every hour. TAKE THIS!
I remember one of the Devs (Holocron probably) during Beta or maybe early release, talk here and there about the vendor "vision". It surprised me to hear that only merchants were intended to have more than one house. Clearly the "vision" is way off the implementation!
The Devs had been talking after release for quite some time though about changing vendors and last I recall their plan had to do with taxing goods or something like that (which had its own set of problems in my mind). The Devs definitely erred by not putting up an "In Concept" or "In Development" thread about these new changes before implementing it like they did on Test Center. Even though Test Center isn't written in stone, it sure set off the masses when everyone read the update notes. Hopefully an error like that won't be happening again anytime soon!
Visions can change and I guess it might be interesting if Vert asked the Devs to communicate some of that vision as part of the combat revamp -- what is the intended role of a CH in combat? If the Devs told me that as a CH my role is to provide pets that shade the sun from melee combat players I'd probably disagree and argue, but at least I would understand where they're coming from and be able to offer feedback.

They may have a database issue, but that's just it, it's THIER issue not ours. If there is a database issue, fix it. I don't want to hear excuses like that...

More database space costs more money. God spare SOE from losing money over a couple of "pet pokers."
