My advice do not get it. Its just not worth it. The only thing that redeems is the free jtl and thus free travel thats about it.

For one the planet is very claustrophobic. You are literally forced into tight paths. I have actually been in dungeons on the other planets that are less claustrophobic then this planet. Everything will aggro and annoy the hell out of you. Not a carebear mind you I feal traveling should involve some peril, but on kash its redundant and ridiculous getting jumped by crystal snakes every thirty seconds, and do not kid yourself you have to kill them or they will give you a death of a thousand cuts. This is where the claustrophobia gets worse. You end up running into invisible walls, and getting shoved down tight corridors which only makes your troubles double, and to add insult to injury all spawns are on a super timer. Once you kill something it immediately respawns.

/agree 100%

I have a level 80 character. The "base" area of Kashyyyk contains zero things of my level. Highest level I have seen is some Varactyls level 33 or so. Thus, you can't get any experience from the random spawns in the main area. BUT... they still attack you and annoy the hell out of you. And you're right, if you try to ignore them they will give you the death of a thousand cuts.

"Well, go into the hunting grounds" you might say. Indeed I thought this would be a good idea... after all they sound dangerous but I'm level 80. Let me at it. So I went to the entrance and found out, "Nope, sorry, you have to do some quests first."

OK so I found the guy who would give me the quests. Quest #1... "Go kill about 20 things 60 levels below you and get their hide pelts." This is fun... why? The whole reason I am trying to get into the hunting grounds is because I have no interest in killing level 20 things. I'm level 80. Why would I even bother? The logic escapes me. Check that... there is no logic to it. I'm trying to go into the hunting grounds to do high level content on Kashyyyk.. why would I want to spend any time -- minutes, hours, whatever -- doing low level content before I can get to it. I am level 80 for crying out loud. I do not want to hunt level 22 things.

All right well, I knuckle down and do the first quest, and go back to the guy. Now he'll let me into the hunting grounds right? Nope! Wrong... now I get to do... A space mission?!?! What the HECK were they thinking when they designed this? If I wanted to do a space mission I have a space quest giver I can go to. Why would they think I'd want to do a SPACE MISSION to get into a ground-based hunting area? And on top of that, the space mission is not (easily) soloable -- at least not with my crappy reflexes. Even better, I have a friend who is a master ranger and wants to get into the hunting grounds. Her piloting skills are basically the yacht -- i.e. she has none. So now what... she has to go out and get 8-10 boxes of PILOT so she can go to the HUNTING grounds? This makes no sense.

Whoever designed these quests, IMO, had rocks in his tiny little head. It's stupid... I've gotten 3 or 4 other quests and not one of them has pitted me against anything level 40 or above. WHY would a level 80 character want to do quests for NO EXPERIENCE with a reward of under 10k of credits? It's an utter waste of time.

I'm really regretting buying the expansion now. I thought Kashyyyk would be a whole new world like the other ones. Instead it's a complete waste.

You guys are amazing crybabies. "Kashyyk has zones and is too confining. I don't like it. It has quested items. Waaaa." Get a grip. It is a CHOICE. If you don't like instanced zones or quested items, don't get them. Or go get them for a change of pace. The rest of the planets are wide open just as before. Crafters are still making items if you don't want quest items. There are lots of things wrong in the game, but Kashyyk is not one of them. There is absolutely no guarantee that zones and quest items are at all the whole future of the game. This is just an experiment. The whole "Wahh...it's new and I don't like it" mentality is just stupid. Go be Republicans or Tories or whatever your country's analog is.

Its not whineing to warn a fellow player about bad content. Basically kash is more akin to kotor then swg. There are two frames of mind on this if your into linear play and compelled action then kashysk is for you. If you are more into freedom and choice kash is not for you. You will either like it or hate it with a passion.

The result could be you spending 30 bucks on something you will never play. I spent half a day on kash I gave it a serious chance, but to me it was just annoying, and poorly thought out.

Save your money do not invest in this expansion. I am sure someone has a number of reasons you will love it, but here is the bare bones of it. You are in a linear enviroment. You are compelled let me repeat that compelled to do things you will most likely not want to do. To be honest I got out before the forced space missions. Yeah I have jtl on another account, and quite frankly I think the devs could have done better simply swipeing the engine from shadows of the empire or even the rogue squadron series. Sadly this is an example of doing something you would not want to do. Imagine finding you hate space combat, and then finding you need to spend two weeks to get to someplace you want.

Get, repeat Get the expansion. There are a lot of things that are good about it and you ALWAYS have a choice of adventuring on another planet. Linear play is just another choice. Whiners should get over yourselves and stop judging the thousands who like it based on your own prejudice.

I'm a Republican too. Got a problem with That?

Figures a replublican would view the expansion as a minor expense. That 30 bucks can buy you a couple decent movies or an entire videogame on the side. So let me ask the republican which would you choose.

Say buying the expansion or buying vice city for the PC?

By the way get over your inferiority complex get over your woody, and step back. Nobody is saying your wrong to like it. I have never dissed a person for gameing tastes. Nobody is attacking you. The poster asked if it was out. Some people said yes and gave their impressions. The argument that the other planets are still around holds no water either. The reason being is the poster has already gotten those planets.

He asked if ROTW was out and he could not find kash. We pointed out yes, and added that no kash is not like a planet its just an extended themepark. In my oppinion KOTOR did it better, and for twenty bucks he will get more fun out of that then rotw.

As I said Im a repuublican and I view the expansion as an unessicary expense because I refuse to pay for another expansionw hile the game still has so many obvious bugs.

Please leave political and or religious preferences out of your forum posts! They have no place here!

I happen to like the expansion and the fact that it mixes Space with Ground missions. I find that a very interesting change of pace. I also just don't get people that play STAR WARS and are shocked that the game involves Space! I just don't understand that and never will.

Yes the game has bugs and some real severe ones at that. Yes they need to be fixed ASAP. But I got news for ya. There will always be bugs in the game. There are also bugs in every online game out there. Always will be, it's just a fact of life in on line games. Get used to it and do something positive to help get rid of the bugs such as reporting them when you find them.

For those that say "but I should not have to Beta test the game for them!" well there are all kinds of distatseful things that we have to do in life. Such as changing your kids diaper, or putting up with other employees that are jerks, or a bad boss, or even just having to go to work when you are obviously handicapped and in pain 24/7 with a disease that has no cure (my life in a nutshell LOL).

But ya get used to putting up with those things and you find a way to get around the problem. On-line games such as SWG are no different. there will always be problems and the player base is going to have to point the problems out, hope they get fixed right away, if they don't fix it right away then find a way around the bug until it is fixed, discover the next bug and rinse and repeat LOL.

Sometimes by jumping in and getting involved with something that you think you don't like you wind up changing your opinion and actually enjoying yourself. It's just the way it is. Welcome to life!

Am personally not against space being in the game, but I think most devs would agree the space enviroment turned out badly. Nothing against them I liked that they ditched a line of axis in the space field. The problem with that though is you end up playing as a rotateing turret throughout all space battles.

Simple points

1. The space enviroment is way too freaking huge so huge infact that starting out you feal like your walking through jello. You spend alot of needless time just going from point a to b. It only serves to keep players seperated. Lastly the enviroment is generally confuseing, and I know people say you will get used to it, but navigateing by radar trying to make out pinpricks in a 360 degree sphere is generally unpleasant.

2. Many hoped jtl would allow for a more arcade flavor to the game for those who just wanted to jump into some action. Unfortunately it ended up being horribly tied to the ground game in the wrong way. Comeing back blackbarred. Haveing to buy components for ships and so on. You get stuck with haveing to grind out another profession. That quite frankly is not very fun. It should have just been directly tied to the ground professions. Your profession dictateing what space craft you can use and what weapons. No reason crafters couldnt just get equal ships to combat just different kinds.

3. The gameplay is less then exciteing. Somehow I dreamed of raiding enemy convoys blowing up capital ships, and getting into dog fights with fellow players. Instead I got stuck with the same redundant zero g rotateing space battles, and to be honest they feal more like B5 then starwars.

I expect space to be in starwars, but jtl just was not fun. Which really boggles since there are enough starwars games to show how to do it good. The rogue squadron series. Shadows of the empire was pretty good. The equation was simple, and was alot more fun. Here is hopeing that swg2 does it like that. Where a player can hop into a ship and go out blasting away.
