Thread: Dont judge the devs just yet.

I wish history could let me take this optimistic view.

But when they blew away CH as a profession in the Great Nerf they said that, although we were now severely unbalanced vs. other professions in combat, this would be only a 'very temporary' issue as all other professions were going to be changed in the Combat Balance (the term at the time). The explanation for carelessly destroying our playability was that we were being 'balanced first.'

Two years went by.

The shiny, new improved 'Combat Upgrade' came along and not only are we not better vs. other professions than before, they broke a bunch of new stuff. The 'attention' we got in the Great Nerf was followed immediately by two years of absolutely no attention and an ever-increasing list of bugs and broken systems. When we finally got attention again, it wasn't to fix a damned thing, it was to break new things, and every promise made to us in the past was erased from memory. That destroyed their credibility and any illusion of managerial competence that anyone ever had about this team.

So, no, I can't get excited about this. Once again they broke something we didn't ask to be touched, and a promise that it's only the 'first step' followed by wonderful improvements 'soon' just makes the bile rise in my throat.

Fix the AI yes. Tweak the pet dynamics no. But above all else, fix the pet specials.






Nope. It was a bug. It was usable by anyone with a pet or droid.


I do wish they would fix the AI of our pets.

Then it's a bug that has been in the game since launch. I've always been able to pull a single by using a pet, always. So, two years into the game we need to fix this bug instead of fixing pet specials?

We have always been able to pull aggro but usually had to send the pet right to it to do so. The bug was, that combat was initiated from a great distance. On the other hand - previously we could send our pet right up to mob - and call it all the way back at speed!!!! OMG! Those were the days. Then we could set it on another aggro - even if it was already in combat and had brought 3 back with it. In fact - we could set it on all 3 one after the other - remember those days?

So they really should concentrate on fixing things first - then take away that little perk we have at the moment - because just now - it's the only one we have.

On the contrary, with the fix to attacking lairs, we now become like commando in that we will be the second profession capable of gaining mass, crippling, impossible amount of agro, no more will commandos be able to say "HAH, we can get 20 CL 80 mobs on us at once and you can't!"


And since im also a commando, that means Iwill have the ULTIMATE AGRO GENERATION TEMPLATE! First, send in the pet on the lair, wait for 3 or 4 things to pop out and run at me with some of the other nest mobs on their way, then flame the lair, causing EVERYTHING around it to automatically agro me, all the while burstrunning around in circles, continuing to fire at the lair while my pet pops out more mobs which will rush at me, so by the time my burstrun is over, I will have no less than 30 or 40 mobs after me. Think of the possibilites, you could create so much A.I. in the area all attacking you, that the server would have to poof all other A.I. on the planet just to keep up!

I concur. Some changes will be painful (a la more difficulty in pulling MOBs), but I think the changes will be beneficial as a whole over time. Especially with the new Specials system coming up. I'm looking forward to the further AI changes, as Joker pointed out.

I haven't tried it yet, but what's to stop us from telling the pet to follow the target, attack the target when in aggro range, then to call the pet back?

Because when you call the pet back pets may no longer store or attack other targets, attempting to make them attack another target makes them get stuck permanently until your so far out of range of your pet all A.I.in the area despawnes, which could be several thousand meters or more.a nifty bug introduced in the CU.

Thanks for the laugh.
2 years of nerfs, lies, broken promises, and patches that break things, you expect people to NOT judge a dev team(or management decision).
Just when you think the class cannot sink any lower the Dev team springs another surprise on ya.
Everytime they start working on a CH issue it ends up badly for the class and AI issues will not be the exception.

Sometimes I really wonder about the rest of the creature handler community. We get smacked with a few more nerfs, and yes they are nerfs, and someone finds a way to find a silver lineing. Stop makeing excuses already. There is no justifiablereason for the hoops they put this profession through.


They made CH wait for a year plus for the CURB. Meanwhile the profession was crippled.


They brought in vehicles which were faster then mounts and better in all ways.


The curb costed us the following no specials hidden stats generic pets and totally broken AI.


The devs have run us through what 3 balance sweeps.


The scout profession has received no content since getting eggs out of lairs and milking cattle. Infact that profession is continueing to be marginalized in the game.


Creature handler hasnt gotten any real content since the mounts.


Now the question we have to ask is this we go through all this tolerate all this in order to be made just balanced. I mean what does it take to tolerate all this nonsense. They are makeing you pay money for non rendered services. You shouldnt have to wait a year to play the game your paying for, and you do not deserve to be treated second class. Why do jedi get publishes left and right, and we get stupid stuff like they fixed the creature sounds.


Patience is a virtue and if your willing to wait eternally by all means, but stop looking for some little thing to justify unjustified hope. Heck you have gone beyond hope you have gone to blind faith. At this point I am sure a dev could come to your door ask for a hundred dollar bribe to give you a small trinket in the game like creatures that make poo on other players and you would gladly pay.
