I like the idea, however I think it would depend on the profession. For all classes (except TK...see below)there should defensive bonuses for being on the creature. It would just be harder to hit you if you are moving about on this creature. It would be a moving target, as well as behind a larger object. On the other hand the same factors that would give a defensive bonus would be an offensive negative. If you are firing a weapon from the back of a moving creature, there should be some negatives to the "to hit" factor. It is much harder to fire from a moving creature than standing on solid ground. Firing from the creature, everything is a moving target.

Having said that, there should be offensive and defensive bonuses for those attacking with certani melee weapons, for example swords. There are still moving targets, but the ability of someone or something to defend against a sword would be hampered if the attacker is on a mountable creature.

Now, as far as TK goes, I think it should be negatives all around. Now, I am TKM, so I am not being prejudiced against them. Reality is the TKM is trained to be totally in tune with his body and trained to know how to defend and attack using his body as a weapon. The creature would really just get in the way. Unless you added a newcolumn in the TK, such as attack while mounted, I think it would be unrealistic. If Bruce Lee were riding on the back of a horse, would it be a benefit to his fighting skills, or a hinderence? I think probably a hinderence, unless your fighting style were centered around that type of fighting.

I know I tend to complicate things, but just giving a bonus for riding on a mount would be unrealistic. I think it would depend on the profession and the situation.
