I got into SWG precisely because of the opportunity to be a CH; I was playing a beta of a game called Ryzom, that should have been out in July, but it got pulled back to September, so I cast around for another MMO in the same vein (sci-fi, aliens, creatures, crafting) and bought this, after reading up on the professions.
Finally made Novice CH the other day - I haven't therefore got any memories of 'old days', so I may be missing out on why a lot of forum members here say the profession is not what it was, but I like it just fine! I don't care about being a Jedi, or being the best fighter, and Ihave never really 'grouped' though I have offeredadvice if asked, or sanctuary in my camp for the needy- I'm just happy crafting, exploring, and hunting....- and now finding new pets totame. I don't use buffs, or armour & Ihave resisted the temptation to buy BE pets, even if they are better stats-wise. Allnatural for me!

Actually, CHs aren't just ranged, I happen to be a Master Swords Man and I get up there and fight with my pets. Either way it's fun, cause they can tank for ya while you are hacking away. either way, it's a cool look.

If we didn't love being CH, we wouldn't be here! Despite it all, there have been more than a few of us who have hung in there. It is an awesome profession!

I still love CH. Been one for a long, long time. Pre-some-nerf, post-other-nerfs. Heh, ppl talk like we only got nerfed once. Nope, we got beat up with that damned nerf bat. They just kept on pounding on us.
But, I still keep it. It's fun for me but now that I want to participate in PvP more, I'm finding it difficult to keep. Rather than drop CH, I'm dropping my main server to level a PvP character on another server. I dun mind that so much cuz most of my friends quit the game long ago.
My pets also helped me level TKA. I went from nov to master in 1 week with the help of my pets and being able to pull Sharnaff missions on Corellia. Was making 40k TKA xp per mission and 12k credits. Thanks to my pets, I was only incapped twice, I think.
I just wish that as MCH with another profession (rifle, TK, anything) we could experience all of the high end content and PvP. Sadly, this just doesn't seem to be the case. Oh well, I'm staying a MCH.

If I hated this profession, I wouldn't still be a member of it. I do hate the devs though, for more than just ignoring CH's. But that's a while different story.
I've said it before, and i'll say it again. I'll never drop MCH. No other profession will have my loyalty as this one. As frustrating as things get at times, it's still the best profession to be had...

I started SWG when it first came out, unfortunately I had to wait a week for it to get shipped across the ocean from the states to the UK but basically I started at the beginning and all I wanted to be wasa CH before I started. The beta did not really have many CH's compared ot the live game, so I was looking forward to being a unquie profesion, unfortunately it seemed once the game was live everyone had a creature to assist their other jobs, as creatures really did rule the game back then.
I did not let this sway me, and even with the nerfs back then I still stuck to my guns when everyone was leaving and complaining about CH, as I was one of the few who really wanted to play creature handler, not because it was th emost powerful in the game, but because I wanted the enjoyment of working as a team and the challenge it brough and going out and finding new pets, that I could use later on and help them grow.
Yes, there were some serious issues that really mad eit hard, like pets vanishing, pets stopping, pets not doing as they were told, pets just being the bane of your life...etc but it was the job I wanted so I stuck with it for 6 months. Then I had to leave the game beacuse I was not enjoying it anymore, not so much because of the bugs but beacuse there was not much to do and there was no real playeer interaction as there was not that many benefits to grouping.
Then I go off and play other things, and a month ago I decided to come back and I have to say CH has certain settled down a bit and it definately has improved a lot. I think it has been balanced nicely, from what I have done so far...I am now getting back into the swing of things and loving every minute of it. Yes there is a couple of issues, but once again I can live with those...especially from what I was used to from the start. I realy enjoy the mounts, means I can ride out on a few of my pets I have had since the game started and then jump off when attacked and it is so much more enjoyable than riding a speeder, which everyone has....so it is good to be slightly unique again. Yes a speeder is quicker..but I like to ride in style and take my time and enjoy the game, as I dont want to race to the finish line as fast as I can and would liek to enjoy the game and my profesion.
Anyway..reading back over this I really have no idea what my point was, but as the servers are now back up... (something which I found hard to get used to when i came back, but it does beat playing and wondering how long it will be before the server goes down again, now you have an exact time...so it must be doign somehting right..lol) ...I will just like to say I really do enjoy CH!!

Tazz will NEVER give up CH entirely. NEVER. He's a CH first and everything else second. The final template will include MCH. No question about it. End of discussion.
