A long, long time ago....

I read about these beasts in a book & for the love of it, I don't remember which. But, it involved a smuggler type 'Talon Carde'? And strapping these guys to the backs of stormtroopers as they hunted Luke Skywalker. Pretty nasty for him from what I remember. I think this still keeps in line with the role of the creature handler: support class (Dev interpretation), but it needs a lot more detail. But lightsaber damage makes many professions irrelevent when fighting the elite Jedi. The group bonus would be great, but wouldpossibly onlydelay the inevitable - ouch. Only Jedi can wield lightsabers, and isn't even operating one tied into the force? I don't remember if Luke could even wield his lightsaber when trapped in that Jedi 'death bubble'.

Great idea for balance currently.

But what of the Jedi trials when many, many characters begin to unlock Force sensitive abilities. Many will use the force in some way or another.

its means alot to me to see the support you guys/ladies have given me and my idea. i know it has been on the boards for awhile asking for something to counter act force powers. here is my next question say we do get enough support and get are wish (cross fingers and wishes really really hard) what would the stats be on the force pets???

ysalamiri i truly see as being just a defence pet. one that just sits on your shoulder and makeing cute sounds but is very easy to hear. kinda like a 2nd warning to jedi that they might not want to get near you.

no really stats on it just a shield like pet. and when you get incapped it hides (goes back into your data pad)

vornskrs I see as i said before as being GPS on super crack. i would say 12k ham is not out of range for a lv 70 pet with immunities to some if not most force powers but the most extreme. say force lighting, and force choke but at a reduced damage. i mean we are talking about an animal that uses the force to hunt i would find it hard to belive that it couldn't dodge some of the force powers being throw at it. but in your eyes what kinda stats would you like to see on it if you were able to create it.

and as always im open to comments good or bad.

I'd have to go back and re-read "The Heir...", but the way I remember it, the vornskrs had a natural ability to sense force-sensitives...not necessarily use the force--I may be wrong. What made them so dangerous to Jedi, is that their natural habitat was covered with ysalamiri--so the Jedi couldn't use the force to defend themselves against the creatures.

this same ability to sense FS, is what the Vongput into their little mutant Jedi killers.

I don't know, the whole situation seemed rather oxymoronic to me--supposedly the ysalamiri used their force dampening skill as a defense mechanism against force-sensitive hunters--so how could the vornskrs use the force to hunt when a Jedi couldn't use the force in the same situation?

I think these guys should be quest oriented pets until they give us a planet expansion pak, but I think they should be CL12/58. The ysalamiri should be equipable(wearable) by a CH only, but he should have to be within 20m of the Jedi(FSNPC) in orderfor the effect to work...here's the thing, in PVP these pets should be the same as any other--no vitality losses--however, in PVE they should be decayable as any other, so if you hunt nightsisters, you may lose your pets to vitality losses. Also, these pets should be non-transferable, but if you do destroy them, then you should be able to take the quests over again to aquire a new set...the quest should be soloable up to a certain point, but then some grouping should be required for the finale.

oh yeah, also I think that equipping a ysalamiri should TEF you to a Jedi, but only if they get within 65m.--this is for any Jedi, unless grouped (but even then, your proximity to the creature affects your force ability)-- This way if you are MCH/MBH, the Jedi could see you and atleast try to flee before you get within ysalamiri range--however, if you equip it after he's already within range, hehehehe....well, that's what a real bounty hunter would do!...Good Luck Jedi, and may the Force be with you!

Well im def for this to be quest based. and i like the 20m range on the ysalamiri for range and i kinda do agree with the TEF if it is equiped its only fair to the jedi to know they are being sapped of there powers but as far as there lv's for either theysalamiri or vornskrs should really be that diff due to what they are doing for a specail power.

for what they do i belive its one or the other to pull them out so any lv 70 to 55 i would agree with

my other idea after talking to a few rangers i know would be the tracking ability of the vornskrs let say you are out tracking down a jedi in the wild and all of a sudden the vornskrs picks up more then one force trail? what do you do? well a ranger could then do a area search and match the name with the BH mark making a effective team or would you go after another Force Trail? i see the vornskrs being able to gage their prey on how powerful in the force they are (example a new jedi would be like a 10 on the scale of 100 while a jedi Knight would be like from 50 to 70 and higher. and a master would hit 100) it would give you atleast and idea of how powerful your target is. i say this becasue the vornskrs become even more enraged the stronger their prey is in the force so it would be a good gage to have when hunting jedi to let you know if you should be calling for back up or going in guns blazing.

Widespread use of ysalamiri and vornskrs would break Star Wars continuity. I guess there's some question about how strictly SWG adheres to Continuity, though.

In any event, I did mention both of those creatures on the correspondent forum a few weeks ago. Perhaps having the ysalamiri be a wearable like a padded armor bicep, and cert it to Master Creature Handlers. I think I may have been suffering from sleep deprivation when I wrote that, though.

But yeah, the theoretical vornskr pet might give Rangers a new tracking option: "Force Sensitive," that provides a filtered list of nearby players who are "visible" Jedi. I'm not sure if anti-Jedi capabilities are something we'd want to make a priority, but interesting to discuss.

thanks for responding to my threed vertexon, but about the continuity itsbeen kinda broken since everytime most of us hit a start port we see like 10 jedi fighting, and superbattle droids ??? when was the last time we saw them, i thought they were wiped out at the start of the impearal empire. plus the yslamiri and vornskrs are around at this time on a planet Myrkrthat is with in the old republic boarders and official registestered. and the planet is being used by smugglers as a place of operations. so i could see some pets being smuggled off the planet for MCH to get a hold of.

i do like the idea of the ysalamiri replacing a arm seg in are armor be kinda cool. but it would kinda leave wookies out in the cold then and i want this idea to include all MCH.

giving ranger the tracking FS with the Vornskr would be cool but in no means am i anti-jedi im just "one" player tried of seeing all the jedi running around saying how powerful i am and trying to gank me to get points on there way up the Knight tree.

we need a balance, but im for check and balance and the force pets would def make a jedi start going back into hiding. nothing would make them avoid major starports like a Few MCH with the ysalamiri equiped to stop them from running in and using Force powers and running out.

its just and idea that we should all talk about. all comments good or bad would nice to hear

An interesting compromise vert, if this is the way they go please dont forget to mention to them that this should be wearable by wookiees

While I don't like the idea personally, I think that it could be good for the game itself, which is more important. It would give people a reason to group with CH's again (for the force-resistant bubble), give us a place in PvP, stuff like that.

Awesome idea.

I also think that there should be a chance that the jedi mind-control thing can backfire and make the jedi dizzy and stunned or something, and also enrage the pets against the jedi.

I like that this idea has gotten refined though many posts. I agree with it as long as it is reserved to Master Handlers. I even want it to go as far as being a quest for Master Handlers like the quest for Master Armor smiths.

I LIKE this idea. This could go hand-in-hand w/the other post about quest pets. Make this a quest pet for an MCH. It's not an uber powerful creature physically, but it DOES have the uber power to negate force powers.
