Confidence, I think Vert does a good job.

I disagree with just about everything P9M has ever posted.

I havent been here long but i CAN say that every post of his i've read so far seems to make him look good... He is friendly and replies nicely on topic without useless flames or rants, which is more than i can say for some of the other posts i've seen recently in this forum. Why would you want to start over with a new corrispondent on the verge of what seems like alot of new stuff happening soon? IMO I think we should stick with who we got right now.

No opinion as far as this thread goes.

But lack of activity has always been an issue around here when compared to other profession forums.

Feedback has also been a problem. When there is no feedback, it's best to mention that as well as actually getting feedback.

But unfortunately, CH's aren't being ignored because of a correspondent. We (along with other professions, including Smuggler, DE, Pikeman) are being ignored for the sake of Jedi and JTL, when they should have focused on the GCW and the Combat Revamp, because Creature Handlers were basically screwed on that deal.

What needs to be done is that the correspondent/dev forums need to be read only for the rest of us so we can actually see what's going on.

Vert, I once had a problem with you a long time ago. But I think we resolved that.

The only problem you and me are having right now is the animosity created by 8 months of looking, coming up empty handed, and by the lack of any feedback from the developers.

All of this angst, anxiety and anger towards eachother can be traced back to one cause. The developers. Which is why I hate them so.

I want to continue our "rares" discussion we are having, Vert. I can understand your position, but please understand how long some of us have been looking and coming up empty handed when we see something such as Jedi (things that were supposed to be the most rare thing in the game) hanging out at starports, when we spend day in and day out looking for JUST ONE tameable and coming up empty handed...

Yeah I respectfully disagree, you guys should know where I stand on CH by now, but in reality Devs have their own schedule planned out:

List of Dev Priorities:

  1. Jedi

  2. Jedi Balance

  3. Nerf CM

  4. Nerf Merchant

  5. How to become a Jedi

  6. Nerf how to become a Jedi

  7. ? Nerf something ?

  8. Jump to Lightspeed

  9. Fix JTL bugs and exploits

  10. JTL and Jedi integration

  11. Nerf JTL

  12. .........etc....

27. Nerf game...er....I......mean.....Combat Revamp

54. GCW

Vert knows what our issues are, hell Thunderheart knows, but it all relies on the Devs and their inability to deliver (feel free to refer tothe list of priorities listed above). Money > SOE > Devs > Thunderheart > Vertexon > Than all CHs.

So there's not much he can do now, he's submitted the list and we're expecting our answers back.

Vert, this profession is really messed up, its not even an easy grind. CH = too much work for little or no reward. Yet one year into the game and we are where we are.

He's actually pretty active on the boards. Hechecks every day or so (as I do in hope of reading good news for the CHs) and compliments the tames, and answer's questions. He's doing what he can, we could try to discuss some new alternatives on various issues concerning CH. He reads and replies to our posts and is very active, and around 70% of them are all negative posts. He tries to discuss but is often bombarded w/ unrealistic "quests" and lightsaber resistant pets post that it all gets burried. Who the hell is going to add content to CH after it got kicked in the balls and hasn't been mended?

So why the secrecy, why not tell us what the Devs are replying or discussing?

  1. Devs are not replying and are not discussing

  2. It is all "in concept" and does not want us to get our hopes up (for example: the Razor Knuckler for Teras Kasi)

He probably just doesn't know, there is little or poor communication between Devs and Correspondents across the board. Take the GCW Correspondent for example, he's been trying to salvage the GCW for a year and has to wait even longer than the Combat Revamp until they even touch the GCW. (please refer to my list of SWG priorities listed above).

We can either wait some more, ditch CH, ditch SWG, or continue feeding useful information.

Do what I do...

Get another profession (Combat Profession, preferably) Get good BE pets, go kill stuff, have fun in SWG, (not killing 800+ Bull Rancor lairs isn't fun). SWG is a game for fun.

I try to input where I can, hope its heard...

"I'm here, and reading the forums. It's been kind of a hectic week in RL, but I hope to be getting my post count up again soon."

B. Perhaps I'm one of the marginal CH that Vert represents, but I'm not sure since I couldn't find the Spawn post you referred to. So I will have to defer comment on this. Perhaps you could provide addy for this as well. Still, from all the posts I've read by Vert it sure seems like he is representing the vast majority of CH.

I am not here to debate what I would do. But the Correspondent Job is to correspond. He does not, orcannot.

The Correspondent Job is supposed to represent the majority of the community, not just a small fraction.

The communication in this game is so deplorable. It is of little wonder nowthing gets accomplished or when it does it is broken or represents only the minority.

Some may feel it is of little concern that Vert communicates so little with CH. How can anyone be reasonably sure that he even communicates with the Devs or what he does tell them is correct.

I by no means say I represent everyone. The only sure way to know what people feel is to ask. That is what I have done. Let the results stand for themselves.

- Certainly my intention is not to debate but todiscuss. Your ideas on how you would make theCH correspondent position more effectiveare verygermane to your recall petition. Youclaim that Vert is not being effective, and therefore it is incumbent upon you to justify that claim. In order for you to show that he is ineffective perforce you must explain what "effective" is, i.e. what would you do.

-You can't really believe that Vert saying he's had a hectic week means he is saying that heis unable to handle theCH correspondent position??? I'll chalk that up to hyperbole on your part.

- To be honest, I have to tell you that I actually agree with you that the spawn rate on ultra-rares either needs to be changed or make the reward worth the effort. I am willing to concede that on this issue Vert's opinion might be in the minority. Never the less, that does not mean that he does not represent the CH community onvirtually every thing else. To say that he doesn't represent the majority of CH because of one issue is, at best, inaccurate. (Incidently, I'd prefer keeping ultra-rare pets ultra-rare but reallymake them worth it.And, you know, I bet if we did do a poll, we'd find that the majority would want that).

- "...How can anyonebe reasonably sure that he even communicates with the Devs or what he does tell them is correct."You do realize that verges on paranoia, don't you? Why are you so sure he doesn't? I've never seen anything he's ever posted or anything posted by anyone that would justify you questioning his integrity or give you such cause to distrust him.

Let me repeat what I said in my previous post. Vert can only tell us what the Devs tell him. If there is a lack of communication/correspondence, it's on the Dev's part. I know with absolute certainty the sorts answers Vert is getting from the Devs, because those are the very same answers I and others got from the Devs at fanfest. You stated that Vert eitherdoes not or cannot "correspond". I believe with absolute conviction that he does. And if it's a case that he cannot then it's because noone can and getting another person to be correspondent won't change that.

I vote confidence!!! Vert has always been there for us, and I think he does a good job. I know I am not willing to give up my time like he does for the good of the community, so let him fight the fight the way he knows how. I believe he does listen to us and does put forth our ideas/complaints. I do not believe that he has the power to implement the changes (only the devs can do that). But he carries our message....long may he reign!!!!!

Go Vert!

Flame away.

I dont have to flame. The old time CH's are snickering at you because you do not know how long I have indeed been around.

You have 225 posts to my near 100 and the other 1000 as plutos9moon. Even that registry date is after yours. So you want to baffle me with brilliance what makes you so suddenly enlightened?

Lurking and never adding to the conversation is exactly the problem. You go back to the kiddies table and let Old Time CH's deal with this then. Your vote is stricken.

Wanna know what I would do Budo?

1) Guide discussions.

2) Try to look at all angles.

3) Give as much feedback from the Devs to the players as possible. Even if that feedback is NO, NOT RIGHT NOW, or THIS WOULD REALLY BE A LONGTERM PROJECT.

4) I would make a sticky. The first page would include dates I sumbitted things, whom I told and what the current answer was.

5) I would ask the Devs for a checks and balance system. Allowing more people to read the Dev-CH forum. Thus proving that I indeed was telling them what the community wanted.

6) I would run more polls to MAKE SURE I was respresenting the MAJORITY of CH at any given time.

7) Try to develop a compromise where there were indeed two sides that seemingly could not or would not budge from one position to another. (see rare spawn issues)

8) I would resign if I had stated (at least twice) real life needed precedence. (I do believe real life should come before a game, but this is more than a game it is a position of responsibility and deserves full attention. It is not like the rest of us who have paid accounts and decide to take a week off. He is a leader. Any leaders responsibility is too lead, not lurk. What is this game based on back room politics?)

9) I would definitely clean up some of the useless clutter. See Useful Pet commands. If we cannot get any more from the Devs then just trash it.

10) If I were Vert I would step down, because in my heart of hearts I would know that I had not given it 100%. (Of course I want Vert to stay for Austin. He has been here one year and deserves it.)

FYI

Pluto was probably working his way around the whole galaxy for 5th time with his pets while you were still getting out of your diapers in Theed.

Pluto has been here longer than dirt, longer than TH, longer than well a long time.

This account is new cause he finally gave up but then came back for one last throw.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

Gala, we have disagreed. My opinion is my own. If there are a majority with the same opinion however then one could infer that Vert may not represent the majority. Like it or not.

Secondly, whether you have disagreed with my posts or not, at least two have gotten more response from the Devs than ANYONE else in this very forum. I have always tried to look out for the best interest of CH. I am not a rarity collector, such as Tivo or possibly yourself. But I did hunt time and time again on Dantooine and NEVER found a FG. Where is it? Ask Vert since he has your confidence. We have. Maybe he will answer you. Maybe he will ask for you. We ask plenty of questions but never get any answers. NEVER. If the fault is not Vert's he could do more to assure people it is not, in writing to put the pressure where the pressure needs to be.

simple question, to which i ask only a simple answer.

with all honestly, is this the best decision right now of all time, to divide the CH community in half over something that vert may or may not be doing right, that wouldn't even matter one way or the other given the blind eye the devs tend to turn on this profession?

call me crazy, but i think it might be better to work towards goals thatwillDEFINITELYserve the greater good of the ch community, rather than trying to make a major change that has the samehypothetical chance to make the situation much worse as they do to make them better.

I am not in BEAST, and I do not have the correspondent in my back pocket. However, I did ask for evidence from the supplied post that Vert only represents a minority of CH's. I'll ask for specifics, with examples, not just a thread and the phrase "read it for yourself". I did read the entire thread, and all I saw was a disagreement on one point, and nothing that really showed me, or anyone else, "This person does not care about the community as a whole, and only caresaboutthe opinions of afew friends he has". I also asked you to present evidence that the downfall of the CH profession was the fault of Vert's, and you still have not shown anything that points to that. If you are going to try to persuade people to agree with your opinions, be prepared to defend it. Keep in mind that we are not looking for an emotional response, we don't want to hear about how long you've been a CH, phrases from your friends about being in diapers in Theed will only prove to dissuade people from your opinions, and statements like "Vert only cares about what Beast wants" needs to be backed up with specific examples.

In closing, I'll stress again that saying "I had a hectic week" is not the same as saying "I can not properly do the job I volunteered to do". You made a statement that Vertsaid he doesn't have the proper time to do the job. Where is that? If you can't show it, strike it from your argument.

Stiker,

First let me again defeat the personal challenge. My status as CH was called in to question by another. The fact that one other person saw that and replied much the same as I is moot. Vert to is a long standing CH. I did not question his status as a CH. Nor should mine have been.

I hope we can both clearly see that.

What I am going on record as questioning is is Role as Correspondent. Clearly I do not have to make the argument that he is assuredly promoting the BEAST agenda first and foremost as it is in print.

I am certain that your PA agenda (providing you are in one) would be totally different than the CH community as a whole. As it is in this case.

You realize the irony of this is I am the only one defending myself. Vert knows he is not doing the job properly, yet will not relinquish the position. I do not want the position, although I do believe it could be better utilized by someone who wants to be active.

In the post, referencing Verts knowledge of what CH's want, he so much as admits he only has a running total in his head and it favors his own image of what a rare is. Like you want proof and examples so do I. Without that you are blindly fighting for someone who cannot produce it. I am not a blind follower of any sort. Show me evidence or step aside.

If you can at this very moment produce such evidence then I will accept it. If the only evidence you show me is someone who merely got lucky enough to find a rare then it is jaded. It is with your own beliefs that you force my experience of the game to bring same satisifaction as it brought you. The stimuli for satisfaction is not the same for every person. We all have our own threshholds and mine is 8 months without a frenzied graul. Produce the answers to the questions:

Are the Rare Spawns working as intended?

Are the Frenzied Graul indeed tamable?

And why hasn't one been tamed since the nerf?

They have been asked over and over. We have waited for the answer from Vertexon. If, as you see in the rare spawns thread referenced above, Vertexon is going to shy away from anything remotely objectionable, I must assume that Vertexon cannot or will not be assertive enough to get these answers.

Many similiar questions have never been answered, and not just about spawn rates.

For some it may seem harsh and unfair to ask Vert to rise to a higher standard armed with the knowledge that the Devs are apathetic at best. For the rest of us, we are people of action and never settle for "I tried". This is Star Wars, you either Do or Do Not. There is no try.

A missing in action Correspondent is not trying anything.
