Be glad that I am not a Dev. I hate the Datapad. If it were up to me, the pets would be stored in your home, and you would have to go back there to change your pets around.

So, Greywulf0, I suppose you would do this to make the game more realistic, RIGHT. Well, If you were a Dev. this game would seise to exist very quickly.

This is a game!!! It is not reality. Nobody should ever again reffer to this game as being anything like reality. It is SOE's job to make this game fun and entertaining to all, therefore increasing sales, memberships, and popularity.... Not to make it like reality.

Once again.... /Slap /Yell WAKE UP!!!

Not true. I would still play it, and I am not alone on that end. There are a lot of people that enjoy games withrealistic tones. Obviously it isn't real (how many of you use your pets to slaughter mass numbers of wild gualamas for their hides?) But there are benefits to this. #1 less people complaining about how overpowered CHs are. #2 It would very likely fix the auto-store problem, especially if you have to go home to change your pets around. The code wouldn't exist to have your pet stored, therefore it won't be tripped by whatever is causing the pets to store now.

If this game were realistic, Greywulf, there would be no melee classes at all.

Because, like in our world, ranged weapons would totally dominate the battlefield.

I accept (grudgingly) the necessity of the datapad as a game convention for pets, droids, faction pets, and vehicles.

However, if you decide to take this datapad obsession of yours to its logical conclusion, you can kiss all that stuff in your personal inventory goodbye. If you're a commando (like I am) you'll have one or two weapons, only. No more switching pistols to take into account the vullnerablity of the target. No more changing rifles to meet the needs of your current tactical situation. No more carrying couches and resources around in your back pack.

I know this game isn't meant to be realistic. But I also don't have a problem with a lot of the items you mentioned. However, you should be able to switch pistols around since a person can carry several quite easily.

And as for that bit on the melee classes. What's wrong with that? I think that it is absolutely absurd that a person wielding a sword (not a lightsaber) should be able to easily defeat someone with a pistol. Now I know that the devs have completely given up being true to the storyline, *looking at thedozens of jedi in Theed* but how many of the movies featured any non-jedi in melee battles? Not many. The aqualish that lost his arm...possibly Boba Fett in RotJ (but only because of the rope that shot out to bind Luke), and then Jango in Clones. All of the rest of the big battles featured ranged weapons.

So yes, once again, it wouldn't bother me that much. I also know that it won't go my way, so there is no reason for you to be worried.

Ahem......i know it's kinda late to point this out since the topic is compleatly different now....but you can get around the mount-not-attacking-a-lair thing by getting near the lair, having ur pet follow you up to it, and then telling it to attack from there. Im assuming this means their attack run code breaks whenthe pet is mounted, but um, just thought i'd point this out. Sry if i interrupted nething

Greywulf, if you and I were devs, oh, how different this game would be, because I share your dislike of the datapad even as I use it. I'd much rather have a little paddock next to my house where I'd store my pets.

But the thing is, at some point you have to give up monkeying with logisitics (which is what you'd be asking CHs do if the datapad didn't exist) with having fun with the game. So we've got all these "unrealistic" things like 22 pets in the pokemon pocket and an entire warehouse in our backpacks to sidestep logistical issues to have fun.

Actually, what Greywolfe proposes does work just fine in some MMO's. Oddly enough, (and I'm sure its just a coincidence) there was a greywolfe who was our mod on the tamer boards in UO.

In UO, your pets are stored in a stable, and you can only take out so many at a time to bring with you. You can't store them on your person, and you HAVE to store them back in the stable before you log out. Thankfully you can put a pet in a stable in one town and take it out in another town, if I remember right.

Believe me, you were VERY careful about what you did with your pets, and where you went.

Pure coincedence. I've never played UO. However, I like the idea of going to any town to get your pets. Really, I am a huge Monster Rancher fan and I like the management aspects of having a creature stable. Plus, I would love to be able to invite my friends over to see my new baby mantigrue or desert charger gurreck and watch them frolick in the stable.

Ultimately though, I would rather see the devs fix the auto-store problem first before doing anything about the 15 sec wait. To me,having my pet desert me while in battle is much more important.

Yeah! And let's make it so simple wounds take DAYS to heal! Got killed? Time to make a new character! Houses wouldn't need maintenance...at least not in the amount currently. Once every couple hours youwould have to find a place to empty your bowels...and if you forget to eat regularly, starvation! You could build ANYWHERE...but building would take much longer to complete. Oh, and rebels would be slaughtered in any populated area as the terrorists the Empire believes them to be. Or maybe I've had too much sugar today...

In town I never have to wait 30-60 seconds. You didn't mean in town did you? If you have that long to wait in town then something is wrong. Ouside town I stop far enough away to summon my pet then continue moving towards my target ... I can usually time it pretty well that I arrive in range of my target about the time my pet arrives.

When I go group hunting, I have to just sit on my arse for days to get my pets out. By the time they come out, my group-mates have already killed most everything and are whining about me not doing anything to help. The 15 second timer drives me mad. Especially when something aggros me just before the 15 second timer finished and I have to restart the timer again.
