Creature Handler Archive
Thread: Rotw okay what are the devs smokeing.
Well as someone who has never played any other MMPORG I have to say so far I love Kashyyyk.
Tons of quests to do. Lots of loot. Some new creatures to fight and possibly tame. They aren't all carbon copies guys but yees there are enough copies of critters that it is a bit annoying. At least the Kashyyyk Bantha looks nothing like a Tat Bantha.
There is a CH quest to find the egg of an advanced type Veractyl so you can hatch the egg and tame the baby. Sposed to be a better type Veractyl but I have not started that quest yet.
It's new content thathas new areas to explore and gets you involved in Space also. I say that's fantastic!
If you have done the "Droid Head" queststarting in Moenia Naboo that leads you all over and finally into space then you have a taste of what some quests are like on Kashyyyk.
As far as the zoned areas go, well yes I agreee the invisible walls are annoying but something that I can put up with. If the zones are instanced then that is all to the good I say. Won't have campers in there stealing the fun from everyone.
I read somewhere in the forums a while back that the Dev's plan to go back to all the planets and make them more zoned like Kashyyyk is. Not sure how they will do that but loks like we better get used to it cause it's what is coming for all the planets to some degree or other.
We got something new here, ne w loot, new ships, new creatures, new mounts, etc. etc. etc.
Relax and enjoy it guys! C'mon!!!

That, imo, is the very type of content we have been asking for - for the last two years, and I hope it keeps up.
Yes, I also hope the bugs that have been mentioned get fixed too. But the quest was at least something interesting to do.
The level 65 veractyl mount to me is a JOKE. If you didnt notice they are jacking up the levels on all creatuers to force us to use only 1 at a time like other games, creatures is now just a name we can throw around since creatures are so general now... anyway why the hell would you want a level 65 mount? The fun of a mount is to hop on your moutn whip out your fighting pets and battle, or use you mount to travel, it doesnt fight, why must it be strong and the only pet you can take out. I got the level 65 veractyl as well as the level 10, and ill tell you now i will probably never use or mount the level 65 one. The only reason I got it was cause it didnt take up room. I cant get the bantha cause I dont want to do the space mission and I havnt finsih the boltaur or whatever mission yet. I hate kashyyyk and just thinking that I am gunna sign on to that planet makes me not want ot play. And after seeing my pets levels yesterday I almost threw up on my keyboard. my kinad baz nitch is level 70 yet weaker then my level 30 swamp stalkers and plains hunter which are btw the exact same.... my level 17 langlatch mauraders went up to level 43 each so i deleted one since i couldnt call them anymore, both my gaoing spider queen and arachne queen are exactly the same at level 65, wth is that? they are both now just big spiders with different skins. I doubt ill be playing galaxies much longer.
Hmm... as someone who hates the CU, I like Kashyyyk. This is the kind of thing the game has needed for over a year- CONTENT! It may be too little too late, however. It also "feels" like Kashyyyk enough for me- more than I thought they'd be able to pull off given the challenges of rendering a planet covered by mile-high tree cities.
I do take issue with the fact that I had to pay an extra $20-something for CONTENT that my monthly fees are supposed to be for. Other games refresh and add content on a regular basis without charging extra. And don't say "your monthly fee pays for the servers/maintenance/bandwidth/whatever"- that's BS. If all our monthly fees went toward that, we'd have servers that never went offline, never had issues, and were runningwith thousands ofterabytes of bandwidth. Besides, our monthly fees are no different than every other MMORPG's, yet they don't charge extra for their renewing content.
I also am a little disappointed by the small size and the restricted areas of the main map. I liked being able to roam a planet in any way I chose. Running into a wall and dying because of it is not fun. However, given the unique nature of Kashyyyk's terrain, I can forgive it here. I don't see how they could have made Kashyyyk halfway like I imagined it without restricting some of the terrain. I hope they consider future planet additions on a case by case basis for this approach.
The large numbers of recycled creatures in the starting zone is a little disappointing too. However, there are a lot more new skins than I expected them to do (see, being a pessimist pays off some times). I think part of the problem is lots of the new skins are hidden away in the zones and instances.
I do like that some areas are instanced, however. If they're truly worth doing, then at least I won't have to worry about campers and jerks ruining my exploration and hunting.
If I had one wish for the expansion that they didn't fulfill, it's that every zoneshould becrammed full of copies of that "big tree" in Kachiro, with all of them linked by bridges. Just having one is neat, but it's not enough.
In answer to your question, I believe the answer is...
deathsticks!

Now as to levels there is this lizard that is lvl 55 but fights and dies like a lvl80 so I think they (the DEVs) are not being totally honest with us on that lvl system. I am MCH so that is lvl 55. I have enough pistols that I can hit with about 500 each shot. I have a (now lvl 70) Cragy bulma. the 2 of us could not take that lizard down. She still had 50% health. It was only when I grouped with 3-4 other players were we able to take her out.

i discovered that too. then i grouped with another guy and he mentioned "elite creature"
what the hell is an elite creature. is this some way of giving surprise to pve'rs who are bored with the lvl system?
"it says its a 55 and im an 80.......but wait it keeps incapping me? what the hell.
soe make up you damn mind.
It is just another thing they copied from WoW and other games where they have "Elite Quests" which are the same level as others but just a bit harder. Total lack of originality. Ban me again, you don't even need a reason obviously. If disagreeing with you or someone else is "trolling" then ban away.
i am personally enjoying kashyyykk right now, sure some of it ticks me off, like the weaponsmiths being left out of the loop with quest rewarding awesome weapons, and that i have to fight hundreds of creatures that give me zero xp. but overall im enjoying it. the environment is really cool, it is just a neat experience. maybe its the just the novelty of a new thing that is pleasing me, and maybe after a while itll wear off abd ill hate it. but for now im enjoying it.
alot of it is your attitude too. you can choose to look at only the bad and focus on that. or you can choose to take the good with the bad, recognize what is wrong, but not let it dominate your veiw on everything. then you can still have a good time playing.
There is actually a quest where you need to be a weaponsmith to take it - it can be found in the wookiee village inside the Myyydril Caverns... My guess would be that it has something to do with the crystals that grow around that village...

What you see as "jacking" the levels I see as adjustment of the levels. AS I said in another post, give things a few weeks...I'm confident that all creature levels will be appropriately adjusted by then. A level 78 huurton howler is absolutely ridiculous.
