Thread: What's Wrong With Galaxies?

The whole PVP system is flawed in my opinion. When you can hit a target they're so buffed and hyped with food/drugs that you can't hit them, or hitting them does little damage. My Pistoleer bleed is useless against buffed people. Yet someone can fry me with flame and my health drops like a rock. It isn't bad enough that the balance in this game is wopperjawed by professions being out of whack from each other (one more powerful than the other), then they introduce a whole line of food (which is awesome by the way) that furthers invulnerability. I do hope the next two publishes fix a lot of balance issues with PVP, otherwise it's useless for some valid professions to even try. I'm changing my template soon and dropping MCH. If the profession I take up (which complements Pistoleer) doesn't cut the mustard after publish 8 I'm leaving this god-forsaken game and never coming back. The grief and frustration just isn't worth it to me.

I'm master pistol and jus' bout MCH too so i know exactly what ya mean. We pistoleers hit for the lowest damage of all the elite combat profs. We don't have a single master shot that works. Next update (pub8) will fix them all. Hopefully......

Don't go dumpin ch yet, publish 8 is going to be combat balance..Since they already "balanced"CH we don't have to fear the nerf bat there. I really see them fixing us for pvp again too. It's only right that they have our pets get hit for 1/4 damage and I think they will fix that

From what I've seen so far it doesn't sound promising to me. I've come to the conclusion that CH and PVP don't mix very well (lots of experience with it) and won't in the future publishes either. The devs seem adament about CH being a PVE support profession only. I've tried it and I've become extremely frustrated (CH and PVP). I've realized that owning big pets isn't all it's cracked up to be and that I can do much better in PVP if I pick a melee profession to go with Master Pistoleer. Plus the stat combinations will help me more. I'm filling my datapad with non-CH pets before I drop MCH, so I can have pets to play with still and have the benefits of owning pets while seeking my PVP goals. I posted recently that I wanted to make CH and Master Pistoleer work in PVP, but I'm only kidding myself as I die more and more every day. This week I'll be dropping MCH and starting on my melee class, as soon as I get rid of all my pets and fill my datapad with fun non-CH pets. I've become too frustrated and miffed about CH to keep the profession. If you start PVPing you will reach the same conclusion sadly and you'll have to make a decision--which is more important to you? I've experienced everything MCH has to offer. I've owned a bull rancor, the pinnacle. Owned quite a few other rares and high-end pets. There's nothing left for me and CH that I can't have with non-CH pets.

I understand where your coming from. I don't pvp anymore either for the same reasons. Pub8 is supposed to be combat balance tho so I'd wait 'til then to dump it. However you sound like I did about MDE after 5 months of no DEV love, a bit let down and the profession is poison to ya. If thats the case its all about fun and if yer heavy into pvp then TK or commando may be the way to go. Just keep in mind that this months uber combat class may be next months worst profession. Gluck either way

I have never read a post that summed up my feelings about this game as much as yours. As much as I WANT and TRY to be in love with this game, the many things that are wrong with it, make me not love it.

The GCW is my main complaint. This was very hyped up, and has flopped. This is supposed to be the center of the game, and it is not. They can't even get basic commands to work! (/gcw) This would be HUGE for the game to simply just have /gcw. I still type it occasionally, but I know what to expect and it delivers on my expectations every time. I'm going to repost this post myself.

This board only goes back 720 pages. It's not long enough for a detailed explanation of what's wrong with galaxies.

I agree with most of your statements. Although many are trying hard in the company, this miss many things that are obvious to full-time players.

But it's Star Wars: "Do or do not, there is no try". I don't think anyone doubts that they'retrying. You'd have to be sadistic or hate your job to intentionally screw things up. The problem is trying is not good enough. Is it okay if I simply try to fix you car after you've paid me? Is it okay for me to try to paint your house? No. Do it or don't do it.

An end user shouldn't know more about the game that the architects. If they do (and sometimes you have to wonder) then the fault is squarely on the architects.

My question is this...

I was in Beta 3.

I was there for the first day of retail.

I played for 2 months after retail.

I came back about a month ago.

To be brutally honest with you, almost everything that's in SWG today was promised on the first day of retail. It shocks me that I started playing just one month ago and the first thing I said after playing was, hey, this is what we expected on the first day we bought the game.

Another complete shock is that most combat professions have broken specials. Since day one!

I'm hearing the same complaints from day one. The same exact complaints!

It's astounding that the developers haven't concentrated on fixing the all the broken specials. I keep asking myself why are they taking so long to fix these things? Not only do they leave a lot of bugs in-game, where's all the content?

I figured it out. It's one ofthree things or combination of:

1 - SOE doesn't have enough programmers. It seems they can't get enough done quickly.

2 - The programmers aren't adept with the code and it takes them a long time to program.

3 - Mismanagement of the game itself and its priorities.

I can say, for a fact, that #1 is true, since one of the developers had stated in a post that some of the programmershad been taken away to do the Space Expansion pack.

I can also say that #3 is certainly true, just from the example of pushing a beta product to retail.

What I can gather from many players is that this game needs a lot of work, still, and the main reason they're here is because they still see the POTENTIAL of SWG. I'm still here because I'm the fool who paid for a full year. Otherwise, I would have canceled and come back a year later, because I see the potential.

The Space Expansion? How ridiculous to come out with something like that when this game is still broken. And why would they come out with the Space Expansion? MONEY.

If we used our consumer powers andnot one person bought the space expansion, I bet most bugs would be fixed within a month.
