Thread: The /tellpet command?

I haven't tried multi-character commands so that may be my problem. I find tellpet has worked fairly reliably for all the animals I've had except the cu pa. She doesn't listen too well anyway and always ignores the stay command. I can have the cu pa and another pet out and say (not tellpet) "st". The other pet will stay the cu pa continues to follow me if I don't pet her.
I set up a fairly complicated system to deal with my pet commands, but I like it. I like long pet commands, they're more fun and as I later found out they work better with /tellpet.
I set up aliases, i.e. "/alias FluffyAttack /tellpet Fluffy, snacktime!", "/alias PiggyAttack /tellpet Piggy, pig out!". All my pet attacks at least are on a /<name>Attack format so I never forget my custom commands, no matter how long it's been since I worked with a particular pet.
When switching pets I reprogram my pet attack macros to the appropriate commands, i.e. change /FluffyAttack to /PiggyAttack. I usually keep a /say version of the alias or macro around for when I feel like giving commands out loud and I keep at least 2 /say and 2 /tellpet macros so I can have 2 pets ready to go together.
Teaching a new attack command consists of changing the appropriate alias, telling the pet I'm ready to train and hitting the button. Keeps my typoes to a minimum as well with pre-scripted commands.
Typically I have 4 pet buttons on my hotkeys, /BabyFollow (generic pet follow), /TellPetAttack1, /TellPetAttack2, /BabyPlay (trick 1 and trick 2). Everything is on a /tellpet channel so I'm not spamming, the commands are all long enough to work properly and I never have to look up a command once I've trained them and set the alias in their name.
I know I could simplify it a lot if I just trained everybody for the same attack commands, but you lose so much personality that way.
