Thread: This is one reason i didn't apply for the cor job lol
the anger comes from all of us knowing it was rushed, The servers are going down every day, just like the firs few months of the game. In the begining people could understand paying for that. But almost 2 years down the road???
If the president has to get up and show his face here, you know they are hemorrageing accounts left and right. He is makeing a show of takeing time out to post that. More likely his secratary posted it with his name but hey. It is supposed to say we are important to them.
Too little too late.

Much of the CU really isn't bad.
But the things that are bad are dealbreakers.
1. The level system needs to be wiped off the face of the galaxy. Completely. It was obviously imposed to meet a deadline. I want back unique creatures. I want realistic XP restored to combat of mobs based on their inate ability, not the level of me and my group. I want this "angry bag" thing GONE. The damage multipiers, too, need to be exterminated.
2. The hate system needs a major overhaul. Working taunts need to be established for melee players and pets to grab aggro and hold it. Medics should not be penalized to the degree they are now for a bacta spray heal.
3. Death to particle effects. They do nothing but cause lag. I am not impressed by the pretty lights. Your imagined Jedi mind tricks do not work on me.
4. Restore to medics, doctors, and combat medics their ablity to get XP for healing away from combat. Fix the enhancers so they actually enhance. Extending the buff time by 6 minutes on a base 45 minute buff is utter bantha poodoo.
5. The BS of a synthsteak buff lasting for 30 seconds needs to be fixed. Quickly. All other food buffs need to last longer than they do now, with the exception of the ones that were short time in the old system, like vercupti, because they were so powerful.
6. Put weapons back on a cert system tied to skills. PIstoleers should not be using rifles. Combat medics should not be using pikes.
7. XP requirements need to be rethought, particularly the utter nonsense of the granting of XP being tied to level.
8. I want more event coordinators and personnel at SOE, one per server, planning events in conjunction with players. I want roleplay to be given major attention. This is supposed ot be a virtual reality. Recognize that much of your audience isn't interested in the juvenile "leet" game. Stop catering to the lowest common denominator, the 13 year olds.
9. TREAT YOUR PLAYERBASE WITH THE RESPECT THEY ARE DUE AS PAYING CUSTOMERS. No more dismissal of those who object to what is being rammed down their throats as a few malcontents.
10. This game is supposed to have a player based economy. Fix it so that loot as it applies to combat is not the best there is. Crafters should ALWAYS produce superior weapons, and this applies to JTL, too.
11. Get some project managers to work on this thing who belive in and enforce discipline on the development team, specifically that sloppy work that has been recently constantly pushed to live be elimnated. PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL.
12. I am appallled by the obvious lack of pride that shows in the final product. The art team, quite frankly, is world class, but their superb efforts are undermined by things like default character strings and appearance boxes showing up in game. Get the rest of the team on the program. This game is BEAUTIFUL. It is magnificent in its visual concept (less the particle effects nonsense). One of the most impressive things to me is that the ambient light during periods of the days on the planets are so spot on. Morning feels like morning. Sunsets look like sunsets. Some things are so right about this game, and have been from day one, but little things have worked to undermine first rate work. Get everyone on the same sheet of music.
13. Far and away the most disappointing thing to me about SWG is that it's obvious how much potential there is, and how dreadfully short of the potential the game is falling. There are so many things we've seen in the betas that never make it to the live game, and it's a shame, because there are GREAT ideas out there that mysteriously never show up. My favorite exampleof this is Talus, where there are literally dozens of POIs in place that could be the basis for content, if only they'd be developed. You've got a very rich base of potential content in teh Expanded Universe, yet it's being only hinted at in the live game. So many things, like the weapons base to the W of Dearic on Talus that are broken and there seems to be no plans to fix them. A base that could be 'flipped' from one faction to the other, but can't, because it's missing an elevator control, and it's been like this since launch!
OK, I've said enough for now.
1, 2, and 4? /hi5 and QFE.
the rest? good points all, but... they aren't my deal-breakers as long as 1, 2, and 4 are in place.
mostly 1. oh, and 13. 13 is just a little rambling, which is understandable, since nigh-unto two year old problems don't speak well for the game... and their persistence is baffling.
If I had been Smedley, I would not have read your missive beyond the part I quoted. You would have been far more effective if you had use some reasoned arguments instead of blatant ad hominem attacks.

Why after all the lies that you have told people should I believe you?
Aeroion as rude and nonconsructive as what I said was.
The reason I said it is, it is true. The truth does hurt at times and to thy own self be true. If I was standing in front of him I would say the same things and would not hold back for a second. Its why I would make a bad cor lol.
We all know it but no one wants to say it. they believe that smiling and working with people like smed will work.It hasn't yet, people like him won't change, the mans a politician and will smile if he has to but looks down apon people as oblects and tools. All he cares about is his next bonus check, his stock, and his title.
I don't fool myself into thinking he read it, nor do I think he read anything in the post. As a matter of fact I don't think he even wrote it. People lie him have pr people or secretaries to do such trivial things.
I wrote that for my own frame of mind. As I said above it felt darn good.

I agree with you 100%. Pre-Cu this game was wayyyyy to easy. A profession that could solo a Krayt, people getting elite professions in a day or 2 just by getting buffed and killing huurtons or quenkers on Dant. They put in the CU tostop that as well as balance the professions more than they were. I've noticed something and that is that they removed pretty much all teh specials that were broken. I believe once they get the bugs fixed and people learn how to use teh new system some of the haters will realize it is not to bad or some may even begin to like it. I agree with the People that are upset/agry that the Devs did kinda lie and decieve, but it is our fault, we wanted a rebalance they gave us one, I bet if they would have done the CURB a different way there would still be just as many angry people.
just to point out what i did last night..i went krayt hunting alone, as a ch/rifle...certian death pre-CU..last night i was killing giants and ancients, as well as canyons and juvies..collected 6 pearls, 5 batches of tissues and various armor components...pre-CU there is no way i could have solo'ed a giant/ancient...probably not even a canyon..so those that say the combat is more difficult and balanced, obviously haven't tried it..i have to agree with jope somewhat here, the devs told us it would be different..well it is, it's even easier than before..and not much more thought needs to go into the combat process, like they told us it would..basically alternate between 2 specials until the krayt is dead..whee!!
granted the curb is not finished, but being able to fill you inventory with krayt loot, solo in an hour, is NOT what they told us the upgrade would be

And it's that patronizing attitude combined with their obvious contempt for us (why would the continually abuse us if they didn't think they could get away with murder?) that is what has done it in for me and clearly, many others.
The CU, in the end, has positives and negatives. It's just a game, after all, and there are things I could probably live with. But there are others that I probably could never live with. And it's clear that the things I could never live with will never be addressed in any meaningful way by the developers because of everything I wrote above.
The sad thing is, when I started my reply to that post, it only had 2 responses. By the time I posted it, my response was on page 3
