Hi there

There is a great Creature Handler/BE site www.swgcreatures.com . I have it bookmarked For the answers to your questions I can't think of all the answers but if you check the newbie help section of those forums they are a great resource. Plus you can see the different kinds of pets you can look forward to taming eventually. Sorry I couldn't help more, but only been playing about a month (maybe a little more) and I don't know the answers off hand yet.

Good Luck!

Your initial pet holding capacity is 2. So since you now have +4 you can have 6 pets in your datapad.

Additional pets is the number of pets you can have out so +1 means you can only have 1 pet out at a time. The max is +3 but you can only pull out a mix of pets that equal your current max level. So at Master you can use 1 level 70 pet or 3 pets with levels equaling 70 (ex: 23, 23, 24 or any other combo equaling 70).

The growth of a baby pet varies with use and play time. It's usually around 1-5 level per day that you play. The best way to help your pet grow is to use it everyday. NOTE: Mounts can only be trained for mounting once they hit 60% of their max level. So a pet that is max level 10 cannot be mounted until it hits at least level 6 on the growth charts.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link, Eltheria.

Kryyygarr:

So if a novice CH has +1 pets, that means non-CH's can never have a pet out? I'm not quite understanding that.

As for pet growth, does "use" specifically have to be combat? Heck, remembering how mobs would randomly attack my droid on my other character, I'm afraid to take the babies anywhere near combat. Can "use" just be standing there shooting emotes at it? If so, how long should I have each one out to get a decent growth rate? I'm not terribly impatient, but I would like to cut the growth time down to 2 days or so if I can.

Thanks for the answers!

At Novice CH you can have a total of 4 stored pets. This is because you can have 2 without novice, so at novice you get +2 which equals 4. Also you can only have 1 pet out at a time, again, you can only have one without novice as well. You will need management 3 to have 2 pets out at the same time.

Pet growth is hotly debated, but it really boils down to: If you log in at least once every 24 hours, the pet will grow 10%. Taking it out of the datapad and fighting/feeding/playing with it does not affect the timer. There is some evidence that pets may grow twice, so there may be a 12 hour timer instead of a 24 hour. Basically, 5-10 days for a baby to grow up. I personally have tamed babies within hours of each other and had them become adults 2 days apart.

Hehe, thanks for the answers. However, it is +4 stored at novice. Not only had I just looked at it when I posted, but I currently have 5 stored pets.

As for the amount of creatures you can have out... they should change the text then. If a non-CH can have one pet out, and Novice CH gets a +1, wouldn't that be 2? I know I learned 1+1=2 fairly early in my life. I guess SOE didn't!

here is how it was explained to me. A non CH can have out at one time, either a non CH type pet or a Droid. They can only control 1 at a time.

At novice CH we gain the ability of +1 pet, which means we can use both the droid and the animal at the same time.

I would suggest you read some of the sticky posts. I would STRONGLY suggest you do not expect alot of sense or logic from SOE, you will always be dissappointed. lol

A quick run through is this. At Novice you can control a CL 12 non-aggressive pet. You can have 6 in inventory and call one pet at a time only. Agressive pets show red on the radar and you need Taming II to tame use those. Unless, you buy BE clothes with +25 Taming Vicious. Your datapad storage goes up as you get blocks in the Training Tree. You can have two pets out when you reach Management III and three pets when you reach Master. The total CL of all pets out can not exceed your Max CL.

The CL of pets you can control rises as you get boxes. Your CL goes up +2 for each box in the first two rows. It is +3 for the third row and +5 per box in the fourth. Finally, you get +10 at Master for a total CL of 70.

There are no recommended trees to go up first. Some people suggesst 1111, 2222,3333, then 4444. This gets your CL up faster initially because you need less XP for lower boxes. Some get the most commands they can first so they can train babies for more XP and others want to be able to hold as many pets as possible as soon as possible. The is not consensus.

Have fun and welcome.

I was a novice bh but droped my skills to get CH, i havnt respeced since i wasnt around when it was happening. My question is how do you get good exp for this prof, you need 175k to get 1 skill. Which is rediculous amout, exspecially since im only get like 160-200 per kill it will take me forever to get just 1 skill. im currently lvl 6 and figured if iw as closer to pet lvl id get more, Can anyone help me out here? I know you can tame to get more exp but the most i can get is 1600xp per tame. Which isnt bad exp except that i have to go like 30min-1hour just to find a baby to tame so it isnt good xp for the time spent having to get it. Any help is much apprciated.

Devs are still balancing XP. (I hope and not that it is a random bug/number) 3 days ago I could get 2000+ xp for destroying a lair (might be mission might be wild) and at lvl 14 killing a lvl 5 chuba gave 1 xp (xp for weapon used) Yesterday before the respec balance I was getting 98 xp against lvl 5 chuba (grey) but got less than 100 xp for destroying the lair.

when did they stop doing double xp? it was more then 3 days ago? If not that could be why your getting all the xp. I just dont see lvling up to a MCH with getting 200xp MAX a kill. That just isnt plausable. Yes taht was my xp when i was killing lvl 82's in a lvl 80 group.

What i dont understand is why is soe still having problems with xp issues? The games been out long enough that this should all be fixed. They dont ahve a problem with any of there other games.
