While I fully agree with the post, and perhaps sending it to all the developers, I do not think this should be spread to other boards.
Mostly they won't care. Those that do will be angry that we are clogging their forum with "our" issues. It won't generate but a little bit of sympathy and possibly cause arguments within the other forums then drift off-topic because they have little understanding of how pets operate.
I know you like to make a splash, but personally I believe it will cause more problems than it can possibly solve. Send it to Vert and the devs and hope they listen for once.

oh yea and dont even bother with pistoleer, i complain there too
. rifleman might be ok, carbineer i have no clue. ranger has alot of issues too, so dont try there. (all of their stuff so far is pretty much useless in PvP and PvE except for the sticky traps) smuggler of course has way too many issues now, but really the point is you can tell some proffesions to help and they wont mind.

Well while I believe there are lots of problems and balance issues in this game I do believe that the Jedi *should* have a chance to gain control of my pets. Even if they were full powered I.E. before the nerfs. Please note I said a chance to control them. We should have a counter that *works*. If these were implemented I would have no problem with the Jedi keeping that power. I have known of that power for months now btw so am not shocked to discover it's existance and have had lots of time to decide how I feel about it. I only have a temporary Jedi on TC-2.

I disagree. As a master creature handler myself, I see no reason to have this skill removed/altered. It adds more depth to the game, it is a valid skill of another profession that has been in-game at this point for nearly 9 months and thus the sudden emotional outpouring against this skill is unfounded.
Slight problem with this statement Ko
Jedi were rare and hidden, Now they are as common as kreetles, so now it is an issue.
As I said they want to make it effect all players and not just CH fine then so be it. But a skill that singles out 1 class in PvP is not more depth to the game.
You would be better off saying that since CH's never PvP this isn't an issue than saying the skil has existed for 9 months. Techinacally it has been around for 1+ years, Just that no one was a jedi yet.

Precisely, and this is the problem.
Jedi now are as common as dirt. They are not special. Futhermore, because of the power of the Jedi profession, its where the powergamers with griefing on their minds go.
The most despicable, antisocial players in the game will flock to Jedi, and they won't be Jedi: they'll be Sith.

The problem with saying it is OK for Jedi to be uber is that it ignores the fact this is a mass market game not a movie. No single class should dominate, everyone is paying to play a game and feel significant. It is a deadly decision that SOE is making to allow a single uber class or small set of uber classes.
If you feel that all your xp entitles you to be uber then you really should step back a minute. We are all customers paying the same price. Does the fact that I eat more Mexican food than you do entitle me to skip to the front of the line at a restaurant, because this is exactly what you are saying when you say a person who selects to play Jedi deserves to get all the uber skills and dominate other player styles.

Idont agree.
Anakin could do it, it fits in the game.
Also i have had a jedi do this to me on tc2 and its very funny, and it has a chance of failing, so taking force away from the jedi without result.
If you are going after jedi with only pets, you should get your template examined.
We have much bigger problems we could use for a post accross all forums.
And only a small amount of CH's (i think) do PVP and even less will attack a jedi.

sounds great BlinkTyldak, keep up the good work. if all it did was calm our pet (ie stop it from attacking for a few seconds liek Warcry, it wouldn't be so bad, but to have our own babies turn round as attack us, NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!)

I can understand giving Jedi special powers (well duh -- and nobody is disputing that here, in fact). I do, however, deplore giving them such potential power over another profession's weapons. It's not the incident so much as the possible trend that worries me -- and having more pressing issues is rather moot since *none* of our issues are being listened to anyway. Most other classes couldn't care less that pets autostore in the middle of combat, or fail to respond, or suddenly become deaf and blind at the least convenient moment. (Oh how I'd love to have guns unequip in the middle of combat, just for a day, and then they'd see how the other half lives.) Pointing out to other profs that what hurts us may one day bite *them* in the laser rifle might at the very least gain us some visibility... much good it'll do, but it's a fight and needs to be fought.
I log my MCH in once in a blue moon (
), and yet I'm still working up another on my new(er) main server. I don't object terribly to having been nerfed (adapt, move on) -- I loathe the bugs, but I love the pets. CHs are all gluttons for punishment, and to take away the one thing we work so bloody hard for is ridiculous. At *least* work in some sort of loyalty bonus that works from the CH-player's end and not just the chance-for-failure on the Jedi-player's end.
For those reasons and quite a few others I support this endeavour. May the gaping spider baby be with you.

I agree that this abbility of thiers sounds too strong agaisnt us. A total shut-down of our primary means of combat. However, I also think I'm likey to encounter this problem almost never in the course of playing the game so I don't think it deserves to be cross posted on other profession forumns.
Your likely to only be met with derision and getting your thread deleted for cross posting.

Right now, yes, it's an "almost never" thing. I don't think we should wait until its "pretty often" or "almost never could a Jedi control several classes", though.
And you're completely right, Gal . . . . this could be deleted for cross-board posting. That's exactly what I intend to happen.
Any last words? I'll launch this to a few friendly (or maybe not so friendly) boards to start in a little bit. I was thinking Ranger (since we're kind of linked professions) TKA and Two-Handed (the most likely to see nerfs), Rifle (the most likely to come next under the Jedi control umberlla) and Core Systems (which is just plain busy and if KStar puts up a fight I'll have his throat) for a start.

as i said such a problem about cross-posts being deleted can easily be fixed if we only offer it to the right proffesions, if you look at post count, you may find that many proffesions would LOVE something to discuss. at least thats how it seems to me....

DOH not ranger they really do have enough to fix with their own proffesion....
