The theroy behind the game is your supposed to train for free and the XP you get in training is your reward ..Tips are just extra ..but thats not gonna pay for the condo on tatooine and the summer house on corellia.
personaly i will train for free depending on the attitdue of the person and tips arean added bonus.. i tame and sell mounts on the side but my main money maker is trading.

With all due respect, you also have to look at your own attitude. If someone asks you to do something for them, and you act as if it's a burden, then they wont want to give you anything. I get tipped constantly for training pets for people. I am very selective about who I train for though. If I get a tell from someone saying "trn my mnt". They get a big fat "NO". Why? Because first of all, they didn't ask, and I don't take orders. Second, with that kind of attitude, I know they aren't going to be too generous anyway. When someone asks me nicely, I respond nicely, offer to do it for them, ask what commands they'd like if it isn't trained at all, or if it is trained, I'll ask if they'd like anything changed. Pleasant interaction returns gratitude, often in the form of money. As for your complaint about not making any money as a musician, you may want to ask yourself a few things:
Am I at the keyboard playing my character?
Do I acknowledge people as they come in?
Do I talk to the people who come in?
Do I buff people when they request it?
Do I offer to buff people who don't request it?
If you answer "no" to 1 or more of these questions, there is your reason (and also the reason why your tips are being given to the buffbot too). I also have a musician (seperate server from my CH) and he has a regular client base. Suprisingly enough, he makes more money than some of the female entertainers. Why? Because the answer to each of the above questions is "yes". But I digress, this is an issue for the musician forum.
In either situation, I think you should look to yourself first. I think the reason why most people are saying they don't have this problem is because they are willing to do it just for the sake of helping other people. And if you really don't want to train mounts, then either put up a different title, or find a different profession.

I tame petsand mount for free. It doesnt cost me anything and takes 10 secs to do, why bother charging.

I agree. I LOVE being a MCH and will not give it up for nothing. And I too don't mind training other peoples pets for free. Yesterday I trained 3 pets for 3 different people and they tipped me. I don't do it for credits, I have plenty. I don't charge or ask for tips.
Give back to the community...and you WILL BE REMEMBERED!

Most creature handler's will do the mount training or the other commands name etc.. For the exp if they are needing it . Most will train the pet and dont expect a tip at all besides the normal thank you kindly from most players . There are some players thoe in return for your help with training my pet will send you a tip . Whatever amount that is sent is verry nice if that's what they are able to let go and still have what they need to buy a new weapon or whatever.
Many player's not all are not rich like some so most can not tip other then the thank you wich is just as good with most creature handlers.
If you charge a crazy amount for something that takes less time to do , you will push them off to another ch who wont ask for a few and just do it for the fun. Asking 10k or some crazy amount is just pure crazy , cause not every person could afford it .

usually, if some one asks me to train their pets, I respond, "sure!...make me an offer". Whatever they offer I accept. Then i congratulate them, and they thank /deepbow, and go off happy with their new best friend. It's doubly rewarding, because I make a little spending change, and get to see how happy someone is now that their pets are mountable, or named...it's really cool.
...this works everytime with no hard feelings, If someone asks if I can name their pet for free, I say "no, I'm a master CH, but a novice CH may be able to do it for free because they can gain XP from it". Most times they'll say something like "well, how much do you charge?", and I reply "just make me an offer"--the amount doesn't matter, I accept it and they come to me for the training. Otherwise, they thank me, and go find a novice that may do itfor free. This gives people the understanding that we Ch's don't just do destroy missions for money, but we also provide a service for money.

Gather up some the needed components, then go up to your neighborhood master craftsman and ask them if they can make you a schematic with those components for free. It cost no more than training a pet, and usually doesn't take any longer, but I am willing to be they either laugh at you or charge you an arm and a leg.
That said, if someone comes up and offers to pay, I will do it and not even charge them. For those who expect it for free, I will either charge them or ignore them.

He has a right to demand credits, and I will tell you why. A player is paying for all the effort he put into mastering a profession. Hate to tell you guys but a smuggler can slice aweapon by useing150 units of metal or so. The upgrade kit the knife and the clamp. Do the slice generic 5k per slice. Now that resource did not cost 33 credits a unit. It cost me one credit a unit. Junk gold with smuggler it dosent matter. That is a 3300 percent mark up. Why can I charge so much, because I took the time to learn the skill to use it.
Now there is a time and a place for being nice, and a time and a place for being pragmatic. You have to look at who you are selling it to. Now if I saw you come in on a speeder you got a nice gun and nice armor, and you tell me it should be free. I tell them fine go find another ch. If I get a real noob i will do it for free. Sadly most people have no manners. If you are smart enough to be decked out in finery. Then you know you should pay. There was a time when asking was not required and people just automatically tipped you, but nobody does that anymore.
I do agree with the poster. You should charge for training. If someone offers to pay and your generous thats different. Atleast you reinforce that paying and tipping are proper. I always ran my crafter on a running scale. I charged less for low level weapons and more for high ones. Not necassarily that low end weapons were easier or cheaper to make.
Sadly the economy now is fubar. You may be rich now wait till you fork over a million credits a week to doctors.

The theory behind whos game? In SWG it is a player run economy. Training xp I get (got
) from taming and training wild ones. Once MCH who needs the xp? We might need the money. I usually get from 5-10k to train a mount though like others here I don't get much business these days. I have gotten a bunch of train CH requests from novice CH which is good. I don't charge anything for that even though I dont need the AP points either.-Indene-

My experience so far.
People tell me only if I have my Master CH tag on.
The ones I had to deal with (may be I was llucky) always asked me how much I would ask to fully train and mount a pet (I'm asking 5k).
I can remember 1 or 2 people where I trained for free. In fact, I don't care about money, I have enough, so I guess it is not as important as it is for you.
Let them run away finding another CH, don't get upset, move on and have fun
