Actually I know for a fact the big mounts are slower . . . I rode around on a savage exclusively for months and always got left in the dust by kaadu. We also had a 10k mount race at the town I was mayor for, and someone took my savage on the road for it. The savage showed up five minutes later than all the others, and that was having it gallop every chance it had.

The chickens AKA the carrion spats are fastest?
Also, I seem to be hearing mixed reviews on this...Ive heard people saying that CuPas were pretty fast compared to others. I know my own dewback seemed to me to be a bit on the slow side. Ive since stopped riding it and have begin the wait for my CuPa to be mountable. Also, I had a carrion spat which I was actually able to SELL to a non-ch (since its level 10, and mountable) for 5k lol. Should I go out and get myself another carrionspat to ride? I want the fastest mountable pet there is.
I have:
2 bull banthas
CuPa
Brackaset
Carrion Spat
Dewback
Also, are the higher level variants faster than lower ones? Such as bull bantha vs bantha? CuPa vs wasteland CuPa, Carrion Spat vs Giant Carrion Spat, dewback vs lesser dewback?
Thanks

Ok, got my research done....
It appears that standardmount speed is the same for all mounts with /gallop speeds differing.

Mounts are for travel.
They DO go faster than running and /gallop speeds differ from creature to creature. Creatures also have a bonus to their /gallop reset (as opposed to playable species who can burst and then have to wait a long time) and can gallop a lot more than burst running.

TH.... 17m seems kinda slow....
Can ya give us some kind of idea what a person runs at... and what a mount gallops at????

Standard foot speed is 5m. Burst run is 10m. Standard mount speed is 7m. Gallop speeds vary with the kaadu/spat being fastest at around 11m.
So vehicles arn't slow.

This is really close and seems correct, but Im not at the office and dont have my notes to verify. Suffice it to say vehicles are as fast as they can be.

The statements are wrong, even at base speed the spat is faster than the cu pa. Me and a friend were just trying this two nights ago and the spat is significantly faster. I switched to a spat so he didn't have to keep stopping and waiting on me and we never used gallop.

flat terrain = chicken.
hilly, rough terrain = wasteland cupa all the way.

From what I have seen and used. Kaadus and Carrion Spats are the fastest, followed up by Cu Pa's. Dewbacks and Banthas seem to follow up after that and then the larger ones. I have my Cu Pa mainly for when I want to ride a mount and get from point A to point B quick. My Dewback, I take hunting with me, because I can ride him out there, and attack with him, with out having to do any changes. I got looking at my Dessert Boar the other day, he's actually big enough to mount for a human, so that would be funny.

Wasteland cu pa are much more uncommon and take some time to locate. That alone gives them coolness factor
They are also a good bit larger. My toon is a max height human and the cu pa is just shorter than me while the wasteland cu pa is a good head taller than me. You don't look like the poor beast is overloaded when on the wasteland.

I just caught a giant carrion spat. I know that at some point I have to choose to let it grow to max size or restrict its size to retain its mount status.
Ive also got a wasteland CuPa mount, a mountain dewback, and bull bantha. Should I mount the giant spat or let it grow?

remember folks, group terrain tapes CAN affect the terrain on an animal.

nope, but having 3/0/0/0 squad leader would definitely help too.

Slight update...On the flat surface on coronet, I found a random CH who was riding a kaadu (not male or female), we raced at a gallop as well as at regular speed. Well, my poor wasteland Cu Pa got pwned.
