Vert basically asked if we were going to get anything for our hardship because we were the first to be rebalanced. TH has just said that we are getting nothing for our months ineffectiveness, whilst others have been able to reap the rewards of being combat gods for months and will still enjoy the same reapage AT LEAST till release 10.

I just think that being made ineffective for a period of probably about 6 months compared to other professions deserves some sought of recompense. Just saying that we know your nerfed but that we'll be inline with the combat rebalance eventually is just not good enough.

Thanks Vert we all know your trying, keep at it.

"Back in November, we decided to screw you and your profession by nerfing it and your pets into oblivion. Maybe someday when (if) we do a combat rebalance you'll be a viable profession again. Until then just deal with it because we (I) don't like you."

"Baby spawns? Didn't I already tell you I'd look into it so you'd be happy and keep playing the game even though we really don't plan on doing anything about it?"

That's what I read...

Dr. D'Monicus's to do list:

1) Finish last two CH boxes

2) Drop CH like a bad habit (and BE along with it) and wallow in l33tness for four months as one of the loved professional combos

3) Check back with you all in September

Seriously, folks. If you're at all interested in anything but being a VPO, the message is loud and clear. Take a leave of absence until the rebalance. It's going to be nothing but bitter frustration until then.

CH is the ultimate "high potential" profession. I think one of the reasons some people are sticking with it for so longis because of the great possibilities if the devs would fully realize the prof. The chance of those changes happening is months off. No amount of protest, concern, or communication is going to change that.

Now we know.

"Any specific changes made to the CH profession will actually be seen as a result of the Combat Balance, but not necessarily part of it...Once all the other professions are balanced against the same mathematical benchmark, the Creature Handler’s combat effectiveness will be much more in line with player expectations."

Sounds like good news for PvP, but that's of little consequence to me. The Nerf also affected CH in PvE, and nothing is being done to CH to actually improve it or address any of thenumerous other concerns our profession has. Oh, well, I still like being CH.

I think the idea is thatPvE for a CHis closer to the target than many of the current FotM templates. In other words, players are not supposed to be soloing Nightsister Elders, the Corvette, etc. At least that's how I read it.

Vert, that's how I'm interpreting it as well.

The problem here is that CH has been forced to the new baseline for the last four months, while everyone else is merrily soloing things that we can't even dream of taking on by ourselves with pets doing the tanking, because, like the prey, they're just too fragile to stand up to whatever combat skills we may also bring to the table. Taking on creatures and NPCs is just too easy, even for n00bies, because they've all been "rebalanced" before any of the damage dealing of the players has been.

Instead, the smart thing to do is leave the pets on the datapad, visit your friendly local doctor for a set of buffs, put on your 80% base composite, and go out and tank high end content yourself WITH NO DEFENSIVE SPECIALS AT ALL.

I did this last weekend with a moncal toon in pretty good ubese and soloed gualama lairs with only marksman skills to deal damage. EVERYTHING I took on conned red to me. I did this with NO doc buffs and regular self administration of stimBs. When I did it with doc buffs and 80% composite, a bite of synthsteak and not even to bothering to stim myself it was just as easy, and with slightly less advanced marksman skills.

When the rebalance hits, there are going to be a lot of very upset players. They're going to have to basically relearn the game, and I don't think many of them are up to Yoda's dictum: "You must unlearn what you have learned".

I thought they were doing the rebalance a bit at a time rather than whacking everything all at once with the rebalance.

Still, I'm a pretty quick learner, so I don't mind too much, as long as the changes aren't ridiculous.

Its sad and pathetic that some of you are actually enthuesed by his answer. Its a slap in the face. Hes telling you that you got straight up nerfed, and you will stay that way for atleast 3 more months. CH is a nerf magnet and the only reason you aren't getting nerfed now is cuase they spent so much time nerfing you in the past. Every publish up to pub 6 had a major CH nerf. They just got sick of dealing with the nubs screaming for CH to be crap, they got it and it will stay that way, period. If this combat rebalance happens and CH is viable again you'll see the nerf cries again. And you know they will listen, they always have when it deals with CH. This class is a joke and frankly will stay that way. I'm embarrased to have kept MCH for as long as i did after pub 5. I could've been out there soloing krayts during those 3 months.

MCH makes Master pike look like the biggest FOTM tehre ever was. Which is quite sad given that MPike is a joke in itself.

Vert,

I do not think you will directl disagree but to give what Sio is saying a little more background my friend did Act3 solo with a non-CH BE pet. I pulled out pets in every combo and could not solo it and now have lost any chance at an Act3 Badge. This tells me that something is wrong when everyone else was soloing it and now CH is locked out from mouch content. Mandalarian Armor is not wearable by we CH (nor do I think it should be). Our content is in the babies itself which is a non answer. We have been denied major content by the nerf considering everything. Forced grouping is the major flaw SOE came up with in EQ and it will also detract from SWG if it continues along the same lines.

TH has stated a pet should be equal to an additional party member in the past. I guess my next question of CH if he were to ask more of these is "What exactly is the role of a PET itself in the eyes of SOE?"

Profession interdependencies (or "forced grouping") is really a much larger discussion. IMHO, requiring players to work co-operativelytogether to accomplish larger PvE goals is really the hallmark of what separates MMOs from other game genres. Which is not to say players shouldn't have plenty of things they can do on their own... but if most of the game is that way, what's the point of having it online?

The tricky issue for us, though, is how does a Creature Handler fit into a group without dominating or being dominated by it? If a Creature Handler has the power of two or more non-CH players, hands down, then most people will be Creature Handlers (because a lot of players will migrate to wherever the power is -- the folks who move to whatever the "Flavor of the Month" skill template happens to be without developing any particular attachment to the profession itself). This is kind of how SWG started out, with a lot of people becoming CHs just for the power it conferred.

From what we've been told, I do think Creature Handlers right now have about the combat strength and soloing ability that's beingaimed for in general. The problem is that so many other things are grossly overpowered, making us look very weak by comparison. Fixing those other things is what the Combat Rebalance will address. That does place us in a difficult position until the combat rebalance actually hits (a positon we've already had to weather for many more months than originally forecast). I have been asking for things to help mitigate that, but there are finite development resources.

They could add "Creature BioArmor Serum" that could beused on CL 50+ pets.

This would be a BE schematicthat creates a 4-5 hour shot thatwould confer AR2 and armor piercing to the pet.

Both it and the non-stackable compnent would have a "Best Before" date.Thecomponentcould only be bought up until the Combat Revamp when that component would be removed from the game.

This would be a lotmore "Dev Resource friendly" (probablyonly a little moreworkthan the Deadeye Serum) than trying to revamp the entire class/creature system again, but it'd at least go part way to keeping us in the game until the revamp...

Puh-leeze...now taking bets that it isn't complete whenever pub 10.1 goes live and gets pushed back again...how many months of crap for what, 3 more babies, so rare they're almost mythical? i really want to go do some of the new things like the geo place, but the one time I tried it my pet and I got beat down, thank the deity of your choice that they didn't db my baby...
