Thread: I am disgusted in how the community treats CH's

I admit I don't like that CH's are dragging around such large creatures (in their datapads, no less) but it doesn't come from any particular hate against the CH profession, or graphical lag, or some such. It comes from a roleplayer's standpoint where the idea of somebody dragging a large, disruptive critter through a busy metropolis doesn't get the attention of authorities (let's face it, if you went dragging a pet elephant around DC and it wasn't part of a parade, you'd probably get in trouble). It's kinda out of place to see huge creatures running around a starport in a science fiction setting.

So would everyone else running through town with weapons at the ready. So would all the spammers congesting the popular starports. No wonder the NPC towns are empty! Who would want to live there?

Personally, I think the critters (especially the big ones) contribute to the atmosphere, whereas seeing everyone running about fully armed and armored hurts the immersion factor.

Well i usually use small pets (cats).. but what went well with the wookie protests for armour might work

for un-NERFing CH too. So i got me the three Malklocs...

Strange that CH get moaned at in busy starports for getting pets out... but when the same pets group to help get enraged rancor solomissions on Dathomir they are more than happy with them being around !

Strange how a big pet causes lag but 10 AFK spammers filling my whole screen with shouts doesn't. I guess its harder to complain to all those people who are away from their computer.

When people flame to me about putting my pet away due to lag I simply say "Get a better connection" and /ignore them

Dont let the dirt of the earth pull you to their level.

I'll throw in my two cents.

I don't pull out my pets at a starport, but I have had other instances of disrespect.

While PvPing with a guild once, I was told rudely over teamspeak to 'get my rancor's butt out of another player's face' so he could see to shoot...as if he couldn't move aside on his own. I was waiting for the right moment to send my rancor in. It was just an unnecessary comment. Another player in the same guild said "Ahh, MCH/Master Rifleman...I remember being there once"...as if the profession has lost its prestige and gets no respect from anyone. I suppose a counter-argument to that would be that we are very helpful to newbies who need to level up and need tank support in PvE, but that is another story.

But here is the biggest point I am going to make in my reply to this thread....

I feel sorry for BE's with all of this happening to us....why?

With MCH's on the decline, dropping for other professions, this inevitably is going to hurt the BE's business as well.

Here's my story:

I usually buy enough pet stim D's to last a couple of months. Of course, this was back before the best of us started dropping like flies. Now, on my server anyway, finding a BE to make you stim D's (or even B's & C's) is like pulling teeth. I started with a close friend, her response was "I don't hae the materials to make them with." I was more than willing to help her get them, but she logged off before I could get anything done. So, I come onto the forums and politely ask if anyone out there was selling pet stims anymore, because they were getting hard to find, and the advertised BE vendors had been cleaned out for weeks, some of them months. But to not find them ANYWHERE was ridiculous. My post was polite and to the point. I got no responses.

Where there were once long lists of pets on BE vendors for sale, there are fewer selections now. And if you want something really good, you have to custom order it from a BE willing to work with you. Fortunately, I have money at this point in the game, but there are many who don't.

I give the originator of this thread 5 stars. And this is one of those rare threads I hope the devs are reading, because it makes a very clear point. CH's are not only losing respect and dropping the profession, but this has already economically started to hurt many BE's, who depend on CH's for business.

And it will only continue to get worse if nothing is done for us. And I am going out on a limb saying this, but I have a bad, gut feeling in the pit of my stomach that the combat rebalance isn't going to help the MCH plight one iota.

Peace.

Why say get a better connection when their internet speed has NOTHING to do with your pet being out? It's video lag they are complaining about not internet lag.

You've never seen star wars have you? You musta missed the whole parts on tatooine where little jawa's were leading ronto through the streets or all the banthas, or all the dewbacks. Creatures are a HUGE part of star wars. Though having rancors and kimo's as pets is quite a stretch.

someone asked to fight my pet because i wouldnt store him away

so i came back with " ok so you want to duel my pet that you know you can beat because pets were nerfed beyond belief. You don't have to prove to me how big your e-balls are with your flavor of the month professions "

he was a tkm with fencer or something else

I had a good one over the weekend. I have been MCH since the week of release. I had a total stranger come up to me and ask me why I would master such an annoying and useless profession? As I was typing my reply he then asked me to mount his BE Bantha. My reponse was because I love to tell non-ch's that I do not train BE pets. lol He had been trying to get it trained for a week. With his attitude I see why he was having a problem.

Hehe, I think I only did this 3 or so times. Not nearly enough to be hated.

the best to me, and this is from a uber long time FPS player, so dont get offended is when these flavor of the month guys act like they are skilled in their pvp battles. That is a freaking trip to me.

I heard someone call a master swordsman a "Pro" the other day. This is not a game of skill, it is about grinding and finding personal satisfaction in what you are doing. There are no pros here, just peeps that put time into their characters.

Very humorous to me.
