Depends what you want to do. You got all the combat answers above.

I've been doing BE for a couple of weeks and if you are more interested in the creature side instead of combat, it's a great mix. Ok, I got carbines also which helps to keep me alive longer.

My post seems to have disappeared---retyping it.../

Here's my template:

Master CH

Master Scout (dropping some of this to get Master Pistoleer, have +maskscent clothing to replace stats)

Pistoleer 1/2/4/2 (eligable for 2/x/x/x now, will get that to add +15 to dodge)

Medic 2/2/1/0 (2/x/x/x gives me first aid to stop bleeding, and my stim b heals are great)

Ranger 0/0/1/0 (for tracking rare babies, but it sucks, so I'm gonna drop it)

The best thing about Pistoleer is the stats you get that increase your chances of not getting hit. I dueled a BH friend of mine. He had a LLC doing 5-7k damage. I had the Pistoleer tree you see above. I'm a wookiee without armor. He had armor. The duel started and I /wookieeroar-ed him immediately which caused intimidate, then I started blasting him with fan shot. He shot at me a few times and I just side-stepped the lightning. I won the duel. I'm sure intimidation helped, but I was able to dodge his shots. We dueled a second time and he won, which shows me it can be a mixed bag. As for fighting PVE... Pistoleer supports your pets better than any other fighting profession, I think.

Definitely wait for the nerf patches coming for the fighting classes. Something tells me Pistoleer will be least affected.

My husband is a Master TKA and almost Master CH, and he loves it. I'm Master CH and Polearm IV, because I'm very ,very limited in skillpoints I can use for combat; I have to hold on to some Politician, and I'm going for Master BE as well. That works well for me because (when I hit) I can pack a decent whallop with little point outlay

Master rifleman and CH is very good.

TKA is the best class in the game til they nerf the snot out of it. It's comical how uber they are right now.

Yea .... it is comical, and stupid i think. So far 80% of the tka/tkm i run into have an ego the size of an 8yr old spoiled devil child. They group w/ a hunting party and then proceed to run striaght to the lair and aggro the whole thing. Ive also had my fill hearing how " I can kill u all and U wanna duel?"

Can u tell I hate TKA's .... workin with them anyway.

As to the solution of best mix with CH ..... im searching too and I keep thinking how handy med skills would be!

Master Pistoleer/MCH doesnt leave enough points for novice BH or novice commando in order to get a good pistol. so youre stuck with a DX2 or FWG5 doing 200 dmg per sec. which is completely pathetic compared to the other combat classes.

After i see what happens with the Combat Balance, I will drop Master pistoleer and get BH 0004 if they dont give us better pistols or better/fixed specials.

What was that guy talking about? I have skills points for MCH, Flame 4 from commando, plus novice medic and 1 box into it. I love that combo. I can flame something, hit peace, watch the damage tick away while its on fire, and go around healing my group. Plus in PvP, I may not have a ton of dodge skills, but once I hit someone with Flame 2 its like WAY more devasting because of the wounds people get!

Personally I found pistoleer to be way to weak of a profession by itself, unless you stack Bounty Hunter, which you cant do with MCH. Smuggler is alright to stack, but not enough offensive firepower in my opinion.

I really enjoy this template but i think it depends what you really want to do. like everyone else here i think pistoleer is the best combat skill for CH i am a (trickshot) or pistol techniques IV all of the cool pistoleer specials i also have pistol melee def 1 for those really close encounters. I also think Ranger is really important as a CH. Some ch's choose to pull missions tap liars for all there babies, but if you have ranger you will be surprised that once you get into the right areas there are plenty of static spawns around. I also have trackin IV on the ranger tree. another cool skill rangers have is they can get more info on creatures without alt tabbing to the swgcreatures.com site Mastering scout is very important to a CH having the additonal +30 to mask scent is essential once you are a master CH andare in the middle of 3 or 4 rancors or other aggro creatures getting detected is a one way ticket to the clone center.

Here's my template right now:

Master CH

Master TK

Master Scout

First aid 2

CH and TK go very well together. And by the way, TK IS a great profession, but people who say it's so uber apparently don't know how to beat us - run.

If you run, we die.

Master scout helps with IDing creature levels, resists, etc. First aid 2 is MANDATORY for both TK and CH. I love this template.

I asume that was directed at me. Let me rephrase I could take medic and 1 box like you did but I see little point. Stim B's arnt that good even the ones my master doc on my second accout wips up. Generaly I find it easier to just have my doc shoot me up with 2k+ buffs and wear good armor. Generaly keep a pixi and a gold hotkeyd for an emergency ham boost but when your health and action substats are up at 1800+ even with composit on you dont need healing when faceing anything you'd solo. I have artisan instead so I can at least survey sence I get more use out of that and my doc/BE dosent have the points to spare. just my preference although fighting style is very similar to yours. Sic pet, burn, wip out the marshmellos and roast em over the burning corpse. I just dont need to heal myself and I have an inside sorce for good petstims. My PVP experience has been a bit of a mixed bag though, flame is devistating when it hits but vs a stacked defence opponant thats an iffy thing.

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

pistola is the absolute worst choice for CH. the problem is the best you can get is lightAP pistols and most things that are truly worth hunting have light-heavy armour and massive resists. a pistol user on a mid-high level creature usually does less DPS than the pet...

rifle or carbine is the way to go. get a weapon that can actually do some damage with autofire and wont take a week to take down a 10k ham critter.

pistols are fine for durni hunting but even subCL10 pets can kill the things that pistols are good for shooting.

if you want to fight next to your pet go with a melee skill.

i usually stay at range with my rifle and call my pets back for healing and i can normally drop 3-4k of health into my pet before the creature catches up. then i run back another 64 and repeat if needed. with rifles a T21 on just autofire will outdamage a pistol user in PVE who is using specials every time.

when im out krayt hunting i see pistol users using VERY nice krayt enhanced "uber" fwg5 and the floaties over the krayt for their best shots are in the 25-30 point damage range of which only 80% is hitting a single bar. my normal autofire shots land for 2-300 on a krayt.

to me its a no brainer.
