Hahaha! Its all about the BE pets guys. As long as yall keep using natural pets, you'll continue to feel this way about CH.

Dont bother retorting unless you own a well made BE pet cause if you did own a WELL MADE BE pet, you wouldnt retort.

Well I can't see me coming back.

I restarted after a 9 month break when they announced the CU was going live (over a year late). In the last 6 weeks they've just added yet more bugs........

Like some others I have no problems fighting using BE'd pets I made myself, even with no combat skills I can handle CL 70 mobs, and with CH as my only offensive skill (giving me CL 61 with a little ranger) I wouldn't expect to be able to take on CL80+.

What hacks me off is the fact that so much of the professions (CH, BE, Ranger, etc, etc) are basically broken.

Specials don't work, the pet sizing is stupid and the thing that really gets my goat is that my pets can't keep up with me running on the flat.YesterdayI saw episode 3 (late, I know) - I almost laughed out loud when the varactyl ran parallel to Grievious' speeder.................

Almost every pet I've ever made or tamed from the wild has either been'resized' into a standard template (worse than the wild equivalent), rendered uncallable or otherwise messed up.

Traps don't work, pets almost entirely level based and combat now consists of pressing attack, autofire and going to make a coffee.

I'll keep glancing back to see if they've fixed the bugs - but on past experience it looks like it'll be another year at least (if ever) .

The absolute worst thing about this is that a lot of the bugs and problems are down to pure poor design, programmingand QA (and with 30 years in the IT business from Junior Programmer to Consultant, I feel I can say that).

How, with properly encapsulated code, does a bug like the 1(0) thing happen? How the hell did it get through testing?

Actually I've seen it before, and it's always got the same root cause: unrelenting pressure from mangement who don't really understand the issues involved.

"We need a new release to co-incide with release of ROTS, going live on this date and with this budget. It will happen regardless of technical feasibility..........".

I've been on the end of it myself several times.

First time it happened I worked myself into a months enforced sick leave complete with counselling sessions (I burnt out). Subsequently, in the face of monumental management stupidity I either waved 2 fingers or worked 9-5 (to rule........).

Sorry to wander off on a tangent there.

Developers do not write bad code unless there is a reason for it. Bug ridden software does not make it to live without a reason. Lets face it - all this stuff used to work...........

Tight deadlines and too much pressure are caused by poor management. Not having the right skills in the right place at the right time is poor management. The buck eventually always stops with the management because if someone isn't doing or can't do thier job properly it's up to thier boss tospot it and sort it out.

My own feeling is that somewhere along the line SOE wandered into the Dilbert Zone and there's a pointy-headed boss somewhere who knows bugger-all except "management" and "the bottom line" and is now calling the shots (into his own foot mostly).

My main char I had master CH for almost 2yrs.. I just surrendered it. You know what? I'm not missing it. Was so sick of all the bugs, all the problems, and all the false hopes.

I do have an alt though that is novice CH and it sucks to lvl CH!! I'm leveling pistoleer substantially faster. Not only that bug jezz pets grow slow!! I try to log in every day just to get the minimum grow rate on 'em, but it honestly shouldn't be based off of if a person logs in that character every day. I finally had a pet grow up and I was surprisingly 2 lvls above it and therefore got crappy xp for it. Sucks ass!

Plus pets are definately too templated. They all seem too stereotypical... But that does sound like it'll change a little bit. Is hard to say if the plans for a change in specials will be useful enough to make up for low health pets with low damage.

I might add: Why can't we see stats on our pets yet? I am very curious if wild pets have any decent Agro stat.. Being that seems to matter for a pet you want to keep agro. I have yet to have a wild tamed pet keep agro for long if at all once I hit the enemy animal. More wondering if this will be changed... can't remember seeing anything poste don this.

I have created a forum with a new possible solution for a CH fix. Its low maintenance for the devs, gives us lots of options and allows good players to distinguish themselves from bad ones. Together we'll turn our profession around! Take a look at the following link and please contribute!

It's funny, just about everyone I know who doesn't read the forums loves CH. And after they see my pets fight, they think about adding it. This weekend I got the pleasure of having my CL70pet tank a dune kimogila. The group took em down just before my pet got incapped. Little shaky with aggro in the beginning, but my pet managed to get the aggro at the end and I feel contributed to the win.

I also noticed something different lately. I didn't have my pet grouped due to the 8 ppl max but it seemed to be fighting at the groups level or something. It's only level 67 and taking on level 82s but not getting the big damage mitigation stuff.... Anyone else see this?

Yes, there's bugs, but all in all it's still an enjoyable profession.

For pet growth faster than 12 hours, I've seen it happen with pets being used in combat growing faster after the 12 hour period. Also saw it happen on test center once when I trained it a few commands right after taming.
