IMHO having a level 35 or so pet fail to stick an intimidate against a level 270 (don't care to be exact on a krayts lvl,you still see the point)or socreature is not a big deal. If you think about it it works well 35 270, 35 270. There is a huge difference in these 2 creatures ...... 35 270, 35 270.

The Swordman you seen fighting the Krayt will probably use his mind hit 300-650 times. When the 4th ham bar for specials to drain from is here (curb), he won't be able to spam an attack 300-650 times. That's the reason end game content like Elders, Gorax, GDK and Krayts will in no way be soloable but require a good group. Another thing with the CURB is ending the mindham trap, mind will no longer be the weakest link, so who is to say post curb any of us will have our mind hits.

Post Curb we will see all of these TKA, Master Swordsman and Rifleman (Me) move on to pure fun professions instead of the top of the ubers.

Of course SoE changes thier plans often, but the street we're heading down nowleads to here.

I hope you are aware that under the current system a player with a master elite prof is considered CL25 by the system reguardless of weather or not they have buffs and armor on. So a CL25 player can land a state that a CL35 creature can not?

Anyone who knows me in game will tell you that I enjoy killing krayts. I kill lots of krayts usuially juvies cause they have the best risk vs reward. Well last night I decided to try my luck at fighting a caynon krayt and as luck would have it the 2 CL 35 slice hounds I bought just for this purpose were done growing. They had AR1 60% kinetic and both had the intimidate special. I pull it off by itself and send my pets in to intimidate the thing. In a min or two pets are down to 3/4 HAM, but no biggie they will land an intim soon. At 1/2 HAM i was starting to get a little worried. Finally with less than 1/4 HAM left I run intoa nearby cantina spamming the follow me command and save them from vitality loss. I go on my merry way (slightly ticked at this point)and walk up on a swordsman landing an intimidate every 4 or 5 tries. I guarntee you I probably had my pets spam well over 20 intimidates but not a single one of them stuck!

Next time I think ill try stunning it with a rifleman special and see if that helps. If that dosent work I dont know what to do.

I just hope the C/U/R/B fixes crap like this.

wouldn't be suprised if they fixed it so intim would stick every 10 times, and you would have to give up rifle because you have no more sp..be careful what you ask for...hehe

Guys, even if the CURB does little for CH directly, it WILL affect creatures. In order to balance combat they need to balance PvE combat as well as PvP. Since they have already announced the armor and weapon changes, creatures must follow. They necessarily must change every creature over to the new system. Yeah, this can be as simple as a calculation that says 30% resists map to 300 points of armor, and add another 300 if they have light armor, however, that in itself means that creatures will change drastically. I just don't see how we can say we won't change much at all when after the CURB we will all probably examine a creature to look at the resists and say "Huh? What does that mean?" (ok, a little exaggeration but still...) Just a thought...

i don't see how creatures "have" to be affected...if you cange the way the players use specials, and thier vulnerabilties..it seems the mobs could be left unchanged, just harder to kill..i don't see how the whole creature system has to be revamped, when the player system seems to be what is being changed...i have the feeling there are going to be a lot of angry/frustrated/jilted posts on or about may 5th..we shall see

yea i agree hossp

the only creatures I see being changed for the curb is the high end npc's they added over the last 9 months. Like the deathwatch bunker and stuff like that. most creatures have been balanced already other than ham structure. and right now who knows how the creatures ham will be vs how our ham will change since its all top secret lol.

I am not crossing my fingers for anything special since I have been let down too many times in the past.

i'm pretty much a pve player..so if ch stays about the same, that's fine with me...i'm more concerned with losing combat skills, i don't want to take 10 min to kill a rancor with a pet, and if i lost the ability to solo pve play, then i think it's time to move on...i am mentally preparing myself for this, lol...i group with i guildee to hunt large game, but the majoity of my time on, i go out on my own, and do pretty well, i would hate to lose that aspect o the game..if i can't keep both mch and a master combat, i think the combat is more important for the way that i play, not looking forward to haveing to surrender any skills

Hossp it seems to me that your making the assumption that the DPS(Damage Per Second)of CH will stay the same while the SPcost of CH will increase forcing you to drop your other combat profession (notice how I said other combat profession instead of combat profession) and leave your toon seriously gimped in combat. It is very possible that all creatures are going to be getting a signifigant increase in DPS or it may be that our DPS will stay the same but everything else will have a much lower HAM and all the other combat professions will have a signifigant decrease in DPS to compensate. In either case battles will be much faster and fights between creatures wolnt drag on for 10-20 minutes like they do now.

In short dont always assume what has been done int he past by the devs will alwayshold true for the future. The history of this game has taught us that they frequently change things.

yes that is pretty much what i am expecting..i always expect the worst, that way if it isn't as bad, i'm not as dissapointed...i live in new orleans, so each year i expect the saints to win about 4 games...then they go ahead and win 8..so it seems less aggravating, lol

I agree with you hossp, that we ought to expect the worst, then we'll all be happy when/if it isn't the case. However, even if creatures do not change at all, I think we are failing to recognize the being a CH will change necessarily. By definition if the combat system changes, we as CH also change, since we are part of that system. The %resist system is being completely thrown out the window, and so damage and resist calculations will be different. If those calculations are different, then necessarily creature damage and resists will be calculated differently as well. That is all I am trying to say with respect to us changing quite a bit... Anyway, we can only hope for the best, expecting the worst.

Thanks, I am trying to keep morale up. Anyway, I figured even if the devs don't want to change us, we have to change when the system changes no matter what... And by the looks of it, this thing (ready or not) is closer than we thought (potentially May 5th with the expansion).
