Thread: Pistoleer/CH a decent combo ?
You can take it even farther and be a master CH and just have novice pistoleer trained. Health shot 2 comes with novice pistoleer, and that is the best special pistoleers have in my opinion.
That leaves you plenty of skill points to take a little bit of medic, and maybe even shoot up the rangertracking line to help you find babies.

But i bet when they grow and can take a punch or 2 they be very effective to have
Im gonna go whit Master Pistoleer Master CH since i rather be good at 2 things then a halfwit in manny , thats just my opinion
Thanks for all teh great answers btw , good to know some people still care about the newbies
Oh and i have a new question! Are there anny way to effect the growrate of pets ?
I was MCH /M pistoleer for a very long time before I started chasing holocrons. it is a VERY nice combo. as a pistoleer you get 5 damage types (energy, heat, acid, kinetic, stun), you have 2 armour peircing options (energy and acid). as such you're almost never left hitting a mob on a high resist, you can just switch to a gun they're vulnerable to. fanshot is super cool, as it's area effect. before the FS mob patch I would solo 5 or more dark adepts at a time with my creatures, a repub blaster, and fanshot.
the ONLY thing pistoleer isn't really good at is tank mobs like krayt dragons. such creatures can really only be effectively killed by commandos, swordsmen and riflemen (at least, that's all I know of that can do reasonable damage to them)
IMHO the versatility and just overall fun factor in pistoleer make up for the shortcomings. pistoleer is the only class that can effectively run all over the place while fighting and still hit their opponent with almost every shot (unless you're using a dx2).
in short, pistoleer/CH isn't the most powerful, but it certianly is fairly powerful, and it's a WHOLE lot of fun.
I was a commando with all skills in the flamethrower tree and mch and that got boring so fast. Plus the flamethrower is unaccurate as hell while moving and far away, not to mention no defenses of any kind. Im going up the pistoleer line and i already have all the dirty fighting skills in smuggler. Im kinda torn on what i will do because i will not have enough skill points to go mch mpistoleer with all the dirty fighting skills. So either i will have to drop medic or drop dirty figting. but dirty figting is so usefull with low blow and panic shot, not to mention last ditch. I mean is it worth it to go master in pistoleer? or would 0,4,4,4 be good enough with dirty fighting? im not sure what to do here.

master pistoleer rocks. the template you suggested there is okay, but you don't get any of the dodge bonuses, which are REALLY nice. also the speed bump at master pistoleer is VERY noticeable. lastditch is the highest damage pistol special in the game for hitting a single opponent, but in PvE at least fanshot is often better because it's multi-target. also, to spite the power of lastditch, I think a master pistoleer spamming stoppingshot will do more damage per second than lastditch without master pistoleer. stoppingshot is already a faster attack than lastditch, and the speed difference of not being master will accentuate that. basically I think it's a question of how much you love lowblow. if you PvP I think you'll find lowblow to be the better investment, but in PvE I think master pistoleer would be more powerful.

With just novice pistoleer trained, you start off a fight by sending your pet in, then stack health shot 1 and 2 on the target, then spam bodyshot2 until it dies.
The disadvantage to this template compared to the duel master is that you will get lower level missions. But your character is much more versatile in my opinion.

I'm currently an MCH with 2/2/4/2 Pistoleer and I'm heading for Master Pistoleer. I've had extensive experience with pets and Pistoleer, from the beginning of my character way back when the game was released. I've grown all this time slowly along the tree because I've been roleplaying a lot. That's not to say I haven't killed my fair share of everything. It's just that I haven't gone and fought 24/7 or on a daily basis at times, because as I grew with CH I learned that it's not necessary to fight creatures to acquire babies.Only recently have I started grouping with others and doing missions andthings. I can tell you Pistoleer is shaping out to be a very nice fighting profession. The farther I go in the tree the better it gets. Peoplemay not think so, but I believe Pistoleer can compete with the other fighting professions easilybecause it's the most versatile of them all and embodies everything you need for most situations. There was a time when I thought I was underpowered, but the higher I get the more it's apparent that thetop end of the tree is worth working toward.
A few days ago I started PVPing with my pets and Pistoleer and I've had a good time.I've had people tell me thatMCH is bad for PVP, but I'm determined to prove them wrong. I feel with Pistoleer and my specialized pets Ican hold my own with proper planning. I've already had my firstPVP win soloand have killed countlessstormtroopers. It's a continual learning process. If you're going to play PVP there's one thing you need to remember: Buffs and drugs make a huge difference. I've found that if a person isn't buffed or drugged Pistoleer works great, but if they are hyped up on drugs and buffed it's going to take a lot more than pets and Pistoleer to take them down, which is why you get in a group and play a support role; blasting from a safe distance. I told myself I wouldn't fall victim to the buff and drug addiction, but I fear it's my only chance of surviving in PVP. So the secret is finding the right stuff that works for you. In my opinion Pistoleer is enough for me and using buffs, food and drugs will help me cope. I think things will get easier for Pistoleer when the fighting profession balance changes take place, can't wait to see how that pans out.
