Thread: DOes anyone keep any spare mounts/pets in your data pad to sell?
I will just make a point here . . . while I do make money doing what I do, I think I do well simply because I am the ONLY person who specializes in non-CH mounts on Scylla. Don't mistake it as my endorsement that the mount industry is actually viable in any way.
~~The Secondhand Lion
Due to the state of CH at the moment I'm rather happy to still have people with mounts/pets around and its quite surprising how many still do.
What really does get my goat (no pun) is being happy to comply with people asking me to train/teach/mount/name and stop whatever I'm doing for them and getting hardly a word of thanks and not even an offer of a tip. I'd refuse the tip if offered as I've no need of it, but it really does reflect peoples views on CHs.
Also the fact that we have such limited space for pets in our datapad means I wont carrypets to sell.
"since the 'great nerf' I have sold one mount (5k) and trained 3 mounts (no tips!). How long ago was that patch? it's just sad. I don't even bother keeping extra in my datapad. The one that I managed to sell only sold because it was BE. My lowland brackaset was laughed at."
Hang in there lonebowler! I think you mount is cool and still haven't gotten around to getting one of my own yet.
I haven't sold a pet in months either. I do usually have a spat or two (still barely trained) in my dpad.
Just got my wasteland cupa last week and a regular for my buddy and am anxiously watching their growth. I've got my own giabt spat and bull bantha mounts too ![]()
There are a lot of things CH can do to increase their wealth, but selling pets really isn't much of one anymore, imo. Toys and meatshields are what my pets are really.
I'll pitch in, since I have a soft spot in my heart for mounts; I think it might be caused by a tumor, but oh well. *giggle* Anyway, I have a BE brackaset (DL 33), a savage humbaba (DL 25), a mountain dewback (DL 20), and a giant carrion spat (DL 12). I don't ride them around when I'm doing money missions for obvious reasons- money missions aren't fun, therefore you want to get as much money as possible during your buff time so you won't have to do it again anytime soon.
Aaaanyway, I do ride them when I go shopping. I do ride them when I'm going just about anywhere unbuffed and don't have to worry about the infamous "buff clock" ticking. I do ride them when I'm looking for babies. I have several different levels of mounts so that I can pull different levels of combat pets to support me. I like it. Also, I'm probably the cheapest person on Sunrunner despite the fact that I'm worth millions. To me, getting wealthy is the easy part; staying wealthy is what takes the skill. It's not about what you earn, it's about what you spend, or rather what you don't spend. Those evil developers aren't getting a penny more of my vehicle maintenance money than I'm absolutely forced to give them.
I guess none of that answers the question posed, though, which was whether or not I kept any pets to sell. The answer is a big no. I do keep one spot open (usually) to find pets for my friends, many of whom are creature handlers themselves. Believe it or not, our PA has at leastsix creature handlers that I know of in it (despite the fact that there are only about 25 people in the whole PA), two of us I know are masters at the moment and the otherfour are on their way. Anyway, if I should see a creature I know one of them would like, I'll tame it and give it to them. I've given away three or four rasps to people in our player city, as well.
The problem with relying on this as a business, however, is that businesses are all about income, and missions are a far better source of income for a master creature handler than anything else; with creatures and a droid, we have our own little army capable of generating an extra 88 difficulty levels. In a Dantooine city with Improved Job Market, that equates to a pair of Janta missions for around 26k credits each, the pair of which take a combined time of around ten or twelve minutes to complete. I don't care how good your sales pitch is, you simply won't be making 260k an hour selling cu pas. And that's what it really comes down to.
The most precious commodity in this game is not credits, it's time. Like life, however, the amount of money you have greatly affects the number of optionsavailable to youwith regard to how you spend that time. One three hour session per week nets me enough money to buy nearly anything I want that doesn't have the word "krayt"or "crystal" in its name, it allows me to pay the maintenance on every decaying item I own, and it allows me to contribute generously to the player city in which I live. Most importantly, though, it allows me far more time to go out and explore, tame, chat, roleplay, or pretend I don't speak Shyriiwook when a wookie with a scatter pistol wants his DL 10, 5000 ham, 50% kinetic bearded jax tamed. Credits are good, time is better, and havingthem bothis best of all.
