I'm running 2 to 5 fps around the busy starports so I'd prefer it if people keep their pets stored but wouldn't stick a CSR on ya or even send you a tell. I'll be gone within 10mins anyway.

See that's an attitude that I would acctually listen too. If I was hanging out at a starport and had My Graul Mauler (Hulk) out, and you asked me if I could store him, in a polite manner. Meaning you send me a tell saying something along the lines of...

"man, I'm having issues with my vedio, could you move your pet?" that wouldn't offend me, but if you are rude, hell. I'm Just gonna sit him down and start spamming trick 1.

Ack. I don't agree with the CSR at all. SOE should have put the ground-shaking toggle thingy in or disallowed the taming of pets with such actions otherwise it's fair use IMO.

Pets cause no significant slow down in your frame rate. It is one model with a color-blended texture and information about its current state.

A single player has more information that has to be transmitted due to customization and clothing than if I were able to call out my entire datapad.

Now as Wallach said, if asked politely I might store them, however I would still inform you that the misconception our pets cause lag is wrong. I would even be willing to test the difference in frame rates with you.

It's the shaking of the screen that is in question here. It is the ONLY thing that annoys people standing around while the screen shakes violently because a large pet is out walking around.

This shaking of the screen needs to be adjusted. SOMEHOW

I am a Master Creature Handler and I can bring out TWO Ravenous Torton turtles at the same time. Wanna see what an earthquake feels like? I can accomodate you very easily in this game.

Wanna get on someones nerves? I can accomodate you very easily. Wanna piss off alot of people standing around waiting on a shuttle? I can do this too quite easily.

But I don't. I got enough class where I dont move the big boyz around when they are amongst a group of people. But what if I was in a bad mood? BEWARE

It's very telling when our pets can be reported to a CSR and have a CSR respond with something like this. How could ypu possibly tell a profession that they have to hide their weapon?

That's like telling a commando they can't bring their weapon out because it annoys someone. Pets are our weapons. What if you were overt? Where would that have left you?...

i fail to see how causing a disruption takes anything away from the game. after all, in the real star wars universe they had disruptions! blaster fights and stuff ya know?

Seems to me the CSR should take that up with the DEVs. We didn't Ask for the screen to shake when the torton walks. Besides the player had the torton over to the side standing still. Sad in a way. All of my contacts with CSR's has been pleasent and they have been very helpful.

personally regardless if is a disruption or not, its the devs fault for making it possible to call a pet in the starport, and infront of it.
the CSR should go complain to the devs not a CH who has the given ability to call his pet, which sense alot of us roleplay, call his friend and his weapon! personally spamming shop waypoints and training spamming is more a disruption IMO.

And for roleplay EQ has just recently changed to allow pets to stay out when you zone or gate so you can keep your pet with you as you travel.

I dunno if i'm the only one around with this opinion.. but i agree with the CSR. When i am at a starport i dont want to see your giant pet mingling with everybody, its just another useless model to waste framerate and take up screen space. There is absolutly no reason to have your pet out other than to show it off like an idiot or annoy people with it... and as for the weapon argument, give me a break. Lightsaber's and laser rifles arent 3 stories tall. They also dont take up more processing power with useless animations, and they dont get left in the starport when you take your shuttle.

I AM a creature handler but i have enough respect not to be a jerk and aimlesly pull out my fambaa and torton in a busy starport. Maybe in a less crowded starport where someone asks to see some of my pets i'll go to the edge and show them, but i dont have them out just waiting for the shuttle, that's just plain rude.

Look for the last time pets have less to do with frame rates than parked vehicles and their effects, individual weapons; and multi-colored armors. If it is your belief these effects should be taken out that is cool. But if you are worried about FPS then you would be better to cry about 256 colors of anything, especially BE'd pets and armor.

I just find it oddly curious that a few people have stated that if they were asked to store their pet politely they would.

Didn't that CSR ask politely? I also notice from the chat that the CSR gave you an opportunity to present a reason why it should not be stored. You could have gievn an explenateion about a guild war etc. You didn't.

We all agree to teh EULA when we sign on. I believethis is covered in the scope of that agreement.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I think it is in poor taste to pull this type of pet model in a crowded area. Again that is just my opinion.
