Malakili and Jacen Solo are what you need to focus on. These are truer instances of CH. If you stayfocused merely on what was ridden or commanded in the end SOE have decided those are the only talents CH deserved.
I can only imagine how boring taming and mounting will become over time.

Well, taming and mount-training do not a profession make. Obviously, if the devs decide they want players to be the means by whichmounts are provided toplayers, they'll need to retain a viable Creature Handler profession in order to have people who would be interested in having a character capable of doing so. But the parameters of what makes a "viable" Creature Handler career are fod for thought for a far-distant, uncertain future. Right now, we need to establish the sheer ubiquity of these exotic domesticated beasts, in order to defend the absolute "star warsiness" of our profession.
Honestly, I really thought a bright future lay ahead for Creature Handlers. Episode 3 really seemed to take the exotic creature dimension to incredible heights. Boga the varactyl was a heroic figure in her own right, and it seemed almost every sequence had some cameo appearance by yet another fantastic creature, from the Falucia Ground Beetles to the Can-Cells that transported Yoda to safety. I was beginning to think the popularity of Creature Handler in this game had actually inspired George Lucas to give these beasts an even more prominent place in his movie.
Anyway, this is one piece in the puzzle. I'd encourage you (or someone...) to build the point from the angle of Jacen Solo, and the exploits of Malakili, and the Witches of Dathomir in the variousStar Wars novels. I've only read snippets here and there of a few of the books, sothat task isbeyond me. But it sounds likea vital next step.
Talon Karrde tamed 2 Vronskr for use as pets. In later series (or was it the first),
theres talk about aplan to tame and sell vronskr as guard animals IIRC.
