First, you can only use full grown pets for analysis. Babies have no less than 1/2 their full grown CL, regardless if they're a day old.

XP is based on the total CL you have out, regardless of number of pets. So comparing 2 lvl 16's vs one lvl 32 isn't really getting you very far. It's roughly proportionate to the CL of the target, um, pretty roughly. A lvl 24 or 25 was getting me 1680 xpvs enraged rancors. A lvl 40 was getting me 1000 xp. On lvl 34 fambaas though, a lvl 15 gets me about 640 and a lvl 29 was getting about 300. That's about the same ratio on each target, but not the same across both targets. But the gross CL difference on the rancors is much higher, which may figure in.

There's no simple relationship between the numbers. I'm betting it's a base plus a percentage of the difference.

This is what I found while killing Enraged Rancors for about a month or so. For now I'll stick with 1 pet situations. XP here is that gained per rancor killed.

CL 1-15 pet: Seems to be a cap on how much xpa low level pet can get. Anywhere from 600-1200 xp with these pets (more as the level rose), but didn't use them too often as they died quickly.

CL 19 pet: My personal best pet to use - about 1400 ch xp.

CL 35 pet: About 1100 ch xp

There seems to be a peak CL to use against a creature, higher or lower than this CL and your xp dies off.

I'm pretty sure that with 2 pets you DO get half xp per pet, so you could get more with two CL 19 pets than with a CL 38 pet, at least against ER's. However, if you only use the one CL 19 pet, you would get the same xp as with two. I guess the theory is you can use a low level pet and ahigh level pet, the low level to gain you some xp and the high level to actually kill stuff.

Hey Devs...put down the burrito, drop the Maxim magazine while you're on the clock, & POST THESE FORMULAS. it's beyond retarded that you are trying to FORCE us to GUESS about all this. What, you think it's a 'challenge" or "gameplay"? It's GARBAGE. Just GIVE US THE STRAIGHT INFO, 100% of it. it's laughable that this has gone on so long & in ANY other game, no one would tolerate it for a DAY.

Do we even HAVE a corrospondent anymore? I know one already quit....

Odd, my level 42 only gets me about 320 vs. enraged rancors.

Wow. Does the player's own ability have something to do with it as well? Being a Bothan with Carbine/CH skills, maybe the game feels sorry for me.

Just to throw some more numbers into the mix...I finally put on MCH yesterday - hooray! -and I mostly finished my last two boxes while hunting Enraged Rancors with my guild. With a BE'd Kliknik (level 39 as of yesterday, 49 when fully grown) I was getting 1380xp per kill. I tried a few other pets, including a BE'd Rancor that's also level 39, and was getting a little less than half that XP with him. Very, very convoluted and confusing system.

As boring as it sounds, I actually ground (grinded?) my last 60k or so XP by taming/releasing crappy BE pets provided by my alt character. I used the alt to whip up a bunch ofKaadu's and threw them into a backpack in the house. Took my now-MCH dude in there and proceeded to just tame/train/destroy until I finished up that last box. If you can find a friend who's trying to level BE at the same time you're going for CH, you can help each other out quite nicely. You go kill things and gather meat, give it to your BE buddy, and he crafts critters youcan train.

when i leveled CH the second time under the new rulesi used one level 20 dewback it was far faster than two level 10 because i wasnt constantly storing one pet or the other and making sure BOTH pets survived the fight. invariably one pet or the other would fall in combat and only half XP was given for a kill.

logistically to get the same XP with 2 pets both pets have to be half the level of a bigger pet and this makes them more fragile and harder to keep alive.

the answer is to use the biggest pet that can reasonably survive a fight with whatever your hunting. it makes no sense to use two pets to level. your risking losing XP per kill if one of the pets goes down, autostores, or runs out of range just before the monster dies.

Ok so it's pretty much a given the even SOE don't really understand their own needlessly arcane formulas for a lot of things. Fine. BUT I am trying to get through the neverending grind of CH xp WITHOUT a master combat profession OR a big group to do the killing for me. Is it even possible? Would I just have to fight worrts & rills to get the whole tree?

No one seems to really know how exactly it works, at least SOE has never told us. Some people even get WORSE missions with a pet out than alone. Others get better ones. I get more xp with a weak pet against weaklings than using my best pet against equivalent creatures. Sometimes using a lower level pet agaisnt a stronger foe means more xp...sometimes, less. There is no rhyme or reason. At ANY rate, it's conclusive in one way: it's unintuitive, nonsensical, & stupidly requires lots of guesswork & luck. The best CH are Commandos who use heavy weapons to smoke mega-creatures once their pet gets in one hit. CLEARLY they have decided that CH is a secondary profession at best.

My MAIN question here is that no one knows how multiple pets work w/ xp. I can call up to 2 pets & have max level of pets 35. **edit** would be my best bet?? One level 35 vs. other level 35's? A level 35 against the biggest stuff I can handle? Two level 17's? Against what? 17's...35's...? The Devs have stated that having 2 pets out gives HALF the xp. This was a deliberate nerf to stop the Poke-Wars. YET I hear over & over that 2 pets is the way to go & using one big one is not as fast & THAT'S why I am behind others I see. They claim they did this as recently as a month ago (waaaay after the 2-pets xp machine was supposedly removed).

What's the deal? And does anyone know from an official source or do we have to try to hash it out through guesswork & hearsay?

There's no reason you can't group. Just goto dantooine and join a voritor hunter group. Use a CL20ish BE made pet with 60% kinetic resist. Make sure to bring a lot of pet stims. Get your pet to attack, when you know hes hit the target tell him to follow you. Then pick another and tell him to attack. You will get 900xp + per voritor. If you get in a large group lets say of 10 people, everyone gets 2 missions each, with 6 voritor's per lair. Thats 120 voritors, and 100k xp... Not bad at all, not to mention the money you will get off of this.

This is also a great time to raise camping xp if you need it.
